The group, along with producer J-Swift, recorded their first album Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, then was later certified Gold by the RIAA in 1996.The album was highly acclaimed, and became one of the most praised and influential alternative hip hop albums of the 1990s.
While all of the Pharcyde sing as well as rap, their greatest asset has to be the voice of Romye, stage name Booty Brown. It's a high and reedy sound with a hysterical edge, giving the perfect start to the single 'Passing Me By', in which the group detail their unrequited loves (Independent edit).
