original tracks and 3 remixes by our label mates Frolov, Itwo5
and newcomer Sombra

PELIKAAN is a French producer who has built his musical project across the capitals of
Europe he has had the luck to call home: Paris, London, Madrid and today Rome.
With his music, PELIKAAN invites the listener to fly along on a quest for sound, a journey
that the artist wishes to be exploratory and spiritual - but most importantly, fun.
Being somebody who's never been too keen on putting things into well-labelled boxes, his
style remains undefined, lying somewhere between downtempo, trip-hop and electronica,
but not hesitating to take inspiration from other genres.
Arbitrary Impressions will be PELIKAAN's second EP. With this work, the artist intends to
draw a musical self-portrait, with each track representing a certain aspect of life.
We Were Young can be seen as a nostalgic homage to time passing by. Both chilled with its
bouncy baseline and wild with its airy arpeggios, the track is meant as an unapologetic
celebration of the energy of youth, with all its candour and stubbornness alike.
Ghost is a wink at the opportunities that we believe to get permanently closed as we make
our way through life. It starts with a solid groove to hang onto, like a window on the horizon.
But halfway through, everything seems to collapse before the exploding into a new energy,
reminding us that nothing is fixed and new paths can always be open.
Treasures is an invitation to gratitude, to enjoy what life has brung to us so far and what
more is to be discovered. The track follows repetitive rhythmic arpeggios that accelerate
periodically, like waves crashing on a beach, with each one of them leaving behind its dose
of inspiration and experience, like little treasures that one should learn to cherish.
Rain Dance is a celebration of the most unexpected aspects of life, it starts with a steady
beat over bass drones but suddenly opens to synth-wave style arpeggios, mixing elements
that have little to do together in appearance to create something entirely new.
Finally, Rabbit Hole represents a dive into the divine, when the inspiration strikes and we get
in the zone. With its extra long break, this track intentionally doesn't respect the standards
of electronic music production, as an ultimate reminder that rules are here to be broken.

Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

Juan decides when we move. He doesn’t like to wait for the others, ‘til the harvest is done. Move with people and soon they’re gonna ask for favors. We have no favors to spare. No one does. We are dried up. It’s August now, and it hasn’t rained since March. We leave in the early morning, when the day is coolest and our escape goes unnoticed. The Earth splits open on our trail, begging for water as if we are gods. But water is hard to come by, and thirst leaves me cotton-mouthed sorry. We are dried up, torpid in this heat. At the new orchard, the incondite worker-shacks lean. One against another. An oversized house of cards fermenting in the sun. The insides are ovens, hot enough to bake clay into pans and roast the human soul. We snip and harvest until my fingers cramp, my back seizes. My thoughts turn botryoidal. Grapes transmorgrify from sweet, round globes to bursting pustules of mildew and rot. Sweat whisks off of Juan’s naked shoulders. We are dried up, shriveled to a raisin. Back at the shacks They have real showers Not just wells And picnic tables to eat outside. If we finish harvesting in three days, the farmer will take us to the ocean. On the third day, a bus carries us to the end of the world. Everyone strips to dive off the edge. Baptized anew spirit, we play until we tumble, Carlos swashbuckling with tiny shell-blades, Maria twirling pirouettes, A festoon across her collarbone, a garland in her hair. I swim through the waves, and cry when the bus leaves. And my tears turn water to wine. P A N is surfing on majestic waves. This is his third offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can teach you the mysteries of the Ocean. M.Age.Project and Tolga Maktay are looking for seashells in the deep and calm blue sea.
