The musical journeys of Dance Spirit and David Scuba alike have been defined by a unique sense of perpetual evolution and sonic exploration. Now through the infamously spirited Desert Hearts Records, these two scene dominating entities have joined forces to produce one of their most prized releases to date, the ‘Dust’ EP. 

As its name implies, Dust is primed for the most tribal dance floors of the international House and Techno communities. From the spaced out percussive wonder of the EP’s title track, to the throbbing yet playfully distorted vocal samples of ‘Cactus Cloud’, right into the woefully experimental synth work of ‘Mirage’, the release delivers a murky dreamstate of massive proportion. 

Hailing from Barcelona, Christopher Mohn and Reagan Denius of Dance Spirit bring to this collaboration years of experience and countless releases on premiere labels like Maison D’Etre, Superfreq, Kindisch, Culprit, Akbal Music, and Endless. Their refined take on Techno calls on heavy layering and effortlessly rolling low ends to produce minimal yet vibe ridden 4/4 masterpieces. A renowned live show has landed them at Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Piknik Electronic, City Fox, Sacbe and of course on the dusty helm of the Desert Hearts Festival. 

David Scuba’s impeccable taste for swelling basslines and crowd carrying anthems has earned him an industry wide reputation amongst fans and heads alike. His invaluable founding membership of Mr. C’s Superfreq has seen David’s role within the label and partysquad sprawl from resident DJ to promoter - carrying him from Detroit and Bogota to Mexico’s BPM Festival and fabric London. He too has flexed his irrefutable knowledge of the life atmosphere at Desert Hearts Festival, playing one of the most talked about sets of the Three Year Anniversary Festival this past November.

German house masters Tube & Berger and Juliet Sikora have announced that they will be releasing the third volume in the 'It Began In Africa' compilation series on Kittball Records. For this, the label have teamed up with "The African Children's Choir", licensed their music and organised a selection of producers to remix them whilst contributing their royalties to the choir. The money will provide shelter, education and a new home for African children in need.

The first two compilations generated over 15,000 Euros which were used to support the choir and its social projects. The funds enabled the building of nurseries and schools to help children get away from life in the streets and this new edition includes tracks from Dario D'Attis, Flashmob, Josh Butler, Mat.Joe, Magdalena, Riva Starr, Walker & Royce and many more.

This is a deep and afro-tinged selection of house tracks that take us back to the roots of rhythm, embalming the earthy grooves with all manner of melodies, tribal percussive patterns, cosmic signifiers and more in between.

Fresh for 2020 we see long time friend and contributor Tobi Kramer making a comeback to Formatik Records with his new single „No Way“, providing new musical evidence and proof of how far his sonic evolution has taken this massively talented producer since he made his label debut back in 2013 – an astounding seven years ago.

With the title track „No Way“ Tobi Kramer explores the dark side of TechHouse, opening with hard hitting drums, a hefty build up and sharp, metallic percussions before a rolling low end hits relentlessly, accompanied by midrange focused sawtooth synths, acidic bleeps and an undeniably technoid attitude for peaktime abuse. Brutal.

Following up is „Aquarius“, the second cut on this single which sees Tobi Kramer on a hard pumping House tip, bringing on a seductive, shuffling groove, ecstatic, highly recognizable vocal sample, high octane bass power, drumroll- driven breakdowns and most importantly: a shit-ton of positive energy which is about to cause havoc on each and every dancefloor worldwide. Coming all the way from Birmingham / UK for his first release on Formatik+ is Sandor, a young DJ and producer on the rise who's already been making waves on the British scene with tracks signed to labels like Cr2 Records, Material Series and Shanghaied which have been supported by Jamie Jones, Ricky Ahmed, Steve Lawler and many noticeable names touring the UK circuit on a regular.

Opening with the title track "Drop The Beat" Sandor is entering uptempo peak time realms immediately and without any hesitation. Clearly taking influences from the Hardbag scene tempowise we see the Brit fusing scorching speed with distinct, uberly seductive bass grooves, a highly recognizable vocal sample as well as a minimalistic main motif in hypnotizing repeat mode – a stripped down approach that's more than enough to bang the pouring sweat out of each and every experienced punters body for a reason.

Furthermore calling the "Hotline" has Sandor providing more of his powerful trademark stomp, the obvious, yet fully twisted and borderline insane take on automated telephone hotline emulations alongside one hell of a bass groove, proving exactly why the young producer has made a name for himself within only a few years on the circuit. This is the hot shit!

Back for a second outing on Formatik+ after their 2018-released "Collage EP" is the musical triumvirate comprised of Reedjekt, JJ Mullor and Gili Jack – a conjunctional musical force which has been cooking up two new tracks in the studio for their new single "Bailap".


The title track "Bailap" sees the three producers on a hyperfunctional level of pumping, midrange-focused TechHouse, providing a slightly metallic drum foundation with sharp shuffling hi-hats and carefully layered percussive elements, hefty bass warps, expertly cut non-vocalisms as well a high octane drive for banging, tool-focused peaktime sets.

Furthermore Reedjekt, JJ Mullor and Gili Jack present "Bokst" as a second cut on this single, focusing on a cleaner, more technoid variation of TechHouse based upon a single two tone bleep motif, ever rolling bassline and raw modulated sawtooth synths for an ultimate brockout in dark underground warehouse raves.

Established in 2009 by Berlin-based DJs and producers Jakob Hildenbrand and Franziskus Sell, known, praised and recognized by fans and followers of electronic club music under their conjunctional moniker Format B, Formatik Records was initially installed as a homebase for the pairs own productions.

After their so-called Motor Funk-sound, a forward thinking take on pumping, straightforward, high octane electronic music represented both by releases on labels like Highgrade Records or Stil For Talent as well as an endless string of captivating live sets, had caught the attention of clubbers and media alike the pair felt the need to create a platform of their own that would grant them full creative freedom as well as unlimited quality control for a fertile and fecund future.      

Whilst taking care of the A& R side of things Format B teamed up with electronic music veteran Hawks Grunert on management duties, setting up an imprint that soon gained massive traction, became one of the major forces on the global club circuit and quickly grew way beyond the teams initial plannings and intentions.
 
With its core sound being defined by the powerful Motor Funk / Tech-Funk production of its founders Formatik Records soon became home and mothership for a vast array of likeminded producers and friends whose single releases are still rocking dancefloors all over the place.

Spreading the labels trademark sound further and catering towards the needs of an ever growing fanbase the label soon expanded and started to set up Formatik Records club nights and showcases all over Europe back in 2014, selling out  shows and leaving punters in awe whereever these nights are taking place.

Aside from carving out an in demand niche as club promoters the Formatik Records crew also started to take care of their artists bookings with their very own booking agency Formatik Booking which was subsequently renamed, restructured and relaunched in 2017 under the name of VIVID Artists which is now successfully handling things bookingwise for a good portion of the labels roster plus a carefully picked selection of other aspiring as well as well established artists and performers.

In addition to these musings the ever busy Formatik Records team established a second, rapidly growing musical outlet in 2017. Embracing a broader musical spectrum than its Motor Funk-oriented mothership, the freshly founded label FMK+ provides a home for a new generation of producers covering a wide range of electronic club music incorporating a musical spectrum including all things House, ElectroHouse, TechHouse, Techno and beyond. With more than 10 red hot releases within the first year the new FMK+ branch has received much love amongst DJ's and from an international dancefloor crowd and quickly turned out to be a launchpad for fresh, upcoming talent from all over the globe.

Branching out even further Formatik Records launched an additional subdivision in early 2018 – FormatikSounds. Focusing on the ever growing demand for high quality samples and grooves this specific and one of a kind label provides exclusive sample packs for DJ's and producers alike, starting operations with Format:B's “TechHouse Signature Cuts”, an acclaimed release which sees the upfront production team unveiling some of their best kept secrets soundwise, catering to the needs of every creator of contemporary club sounds of today.
