We premiere some high-caliber techno from none other than London-based Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent who joins Synthetic Sounds for a five-track EP with a remix from DJ Dextro. We feature ‘Two Zero Four’ a quintessential Advent production as Cisco turns the swing right up and craves out a minimalistic piece of classy techno, further cementing his name in the history books of techno.

Synthetik Sounds returns for its fourth release, following the release of Annika Wolfe‘s Saudade EP in early 2023. For the occasion, the team welcomes the UK-based Portuguese techno and electro icon The Advent, who brings The Plug Formation, a 5-track techno offering with a special remix by DJ Dextro.

With a long list of classic techno records under The Advent, Cisco Ferreira & G Flame, the UK-based producer has become one of techno’s most fascinating talents and enigmas. Honing in on a locked and loop-driven sound that has inspired a new generation of techno producers, and his impact is still felt to this day. Formative releases on Tresor, Confiorm, Kombination Research, and more echo through the history of techno.

We premiere ‘Two Zero Four’ – a hard-edged look into The Advent sound as Cisco showcases a stomping rhythm and a heavy stab that is meant to shake you out of the hypnosis. The London-based producer adds the classic Advent swing and signature claps, slaps, and snares, giving it tension throughout the ride while dosing us with a boost of energy that is needed during a marathon set.

Four Four Premiere: The Advent - Two Zero Four [Synthetic Sounds]

Synthetik Sounds is a brand-new techno record label, curated by 6AM Group, Synthetik Minds and Indonesian techno artist Ecilo.

Through their extensive work in the Los Angeles underground techno scene, 6AM Group and Synthetik Minds have cemented themselves as two of the most-respected techno brands on the global scale. By featuring a big selection of the world’s most sought-after techno artists alongside a roster of impressively talented home-grown acts, their WORK warehouse event series have become a meeting point for techno aficionados near and far. Further, both are partners at COMPOUND and RE/FORM, two of the West Coast’s largest techno event concepts, further underscoring their pivotal role in the current techno scene of North America. 

Jakarta-based Ecilo is a techno producer and DJ who has gained vast experience since he began his work in the techno space back in 2007. On top of an extensive touring schedule, Ecilo has received the ultimate nod of approval from none other than Jeff Mills, whose label Axis was the home of his 2021 Uncovert album. Other notable Ecilo releases can be found on Developer’s Olympian, Edit Select’s eponymous imprint, Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, Emmanuel’s A R T S, Planet Rhythm, and more.

With a cumulative near-four-decade experience in the electronic music industry, Synthetik Sounds aims to be a home for techno artists whose sound remains true to the ethos of underground techno. 

The imprint will focus on building bridges between North America, Europe, Asia and beyond, acting as a platform for artists whose output leans both on deep, hypnotic techno as well as darker, and harder soundscapes of the genre.

The first release is an EP titled “Protech The Skyline” and is scheduled for April 22nd release, featuring five original tracks from Ecilo that firmly underscore Synthetik Sounds’ vision for the label: quality dance-floor focused techno fitting for the dark warehouse spaces 6AM and Synthetik Minds curate.

I've been listening to electronic music since I was old enough to tune into the John Peel show on Radio 1. Peel first introduced me to Chicago House, Detroit Electro and Rap. I would listen to an entire show with my finger hovering over the record button of my 'tape-recorder' close to the radio speaker just to record whatever 3 electronic imports he would play each night. I wish I'd kept those recordings.
From the moment I first heard 'Roxanne Shante' I sought out everything I could ranging from Kraftwerk, Mike Oldfield, Kurtis Mantronik, Africa Bambata, Grandmaster Flash, Gorgio Morodor, Axel-F, Jean Michel Jarre and just about anyone who used a synth to make music! With the arrival of House in the mid-late 80's the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Steve Silk Hurley, Adonis and many more American underground House producers, the music had developed into a new, seriously exciting phenomena.
Music progressed at pace with House and Acid imports driving change, the UK in particular underwent an epiphany of sorts in the 80's and 90's. From Break-Dancing to New Romanticism, the music developed, finally morphing into the early genres of Acid Trance, Techno and Progressive Trance. Heavily influenced by American and underground Dutch and German artists and with the advent of clubbing and non-speaking mixing DJ's, it opened up a Pandora's box of new music, influences, sounds and styles. What that amounted to for me (and most others like me) was an ever-growing range of electronic music that was continually breaking free from pigeon-holes and mainstream pop culture. Electronic music had become the new classical music of a generation.
I can only say that electronic or computer music has evolved beautifully in the past 40 years and I love it as much now as the day I first heard John Peel play fantastic American imports.
I'm not anything more than a bedroom DJ and electronic music enthusiast. I have the greatest admiration for those who DJ publicly and seek to build a following or career from DJing, but that’s not a path I’ve tried to follow. I do love to put together great tunes, so for me using this sort of platform for sharing music is perfect for me. I do mixes both on my decks and using Ableton, as sometimes I find it easier to create a journey through that medium. 
As for making music, I’m slowly finding my way around Ableton in order to bring life to the musical ideas rolling around my head.
