The Cognitive Dissonance EP is the result of months of psychedelic sound design blended with a Neurofunk style that gels it all together. After playing with psytrance production for the first time in a decade, trying to create the signature sounds found within the genre while making a track in memory of TN.EXE/Astroscope (Tenille), the mission was to implement them into neurofunk/techy drum & bass. This is what gives the release its unique feel and vibe throughout.

The journey was years in the making; it's a culmination of life experience and passion for sound design. The primary inspiration for the release can be traced to years of psytrance and drum & bass festivals and events, and the inspiration was drawn from trying to meld these together.

The release is dedicated to Tenille, James' late soulmate and close friend to Ross, a Drum & Bass DJ who loved both Psytrance and Techy Drum & Bass and was created just a couple of months after she left us in late 2020. After building a life together in Melbourne, Aus and then moving to China and representing Unchained Asia, Tenille and James both played gigs together all over the country and travelled the world attending various festivals. One festival that left a real mark was an event in Germany called Freqs of Nature, this was a 7-day festival held at an abandoned WW2 airfield a couple of hours out of Berlin, featuring Heavy Neurofunk artists and Dark Psytrance artists. The vibe was psychedelic, but ominous at the same time, a tone that is woven throughout this release.

In a world that is driven by profit, greed and Instagram selfies, Linden Scott was infinitely blessed to grow up amongst the tribal roots of the Transkei where rhythm and melody is as abundant and true as the grains of sands along its shoreline. His early music production entailed only a cheap guitar and a west African djembe drum until he pursued a formal foundation in piano with Royal Schools of Music. Inspired from this blend of the orchestral classics, with the filthy basslines from modern production suites, he curated the sound score for Movement's Dance School's ballet, The Secret Garden, which had sell-out performances at the National Arts Festival. 

With 20 years of experience in the DJ industry, Linden Scott has shared the stage with a host of international and local artists, free from the chains of pop culture "under the influence" of a record box that's buried deeply under a pile of classic orchestral, cinematic, kwaito, rock, hip-hop, punk, jazz, rap, minimal techno, dnb, deep house and psytrance. 

Influenced by live electronic acts such as Rudimental, Goldfish and Goodluck, he is in a constant pursuit to shape the industry so that one day it will no longer be acceptable for a DJ to pitch up at the booth with just a flash drive and no live instruments.

Because music is not his profession. It is his passion.
