This is my own take on a beautiful song that I have been in love with for most of my life. It’s very special to me and my family. I recorded all parts myself in studio in Ireland, and it wasn’t then mixed and mastered in studio in Newfoundland.

03 Solas (Light)

Frank O’Connor was born in County Cavan, Ireland and started his musical career at the age of six. He has an innate talent as a pianist and has mastered other instruments including the tin whistle and guitar. He is a renowned composer, winning several awards in International Song Contests. With his life-long ambition to perform in the United States, Frank gave up his job as a law enforcement officer to follow his dream. O’Connor’s signature style was noticed during a performance in Orlando, when he was invited by Universal Studios to perform for the grand opening celebration.

His opening night performance resulted in a contract with Universal and his first solo album “Frank O’Connor Live.” O’Connor is an extremely versatile artist with a charismatic personality who has turned his musical style into an International export. In addition to recording a number of CDs, O’Connor wrote and recorded the soundtrack for the movie “Ivory,” which appeared in the 1998 New York Independent Film Festival. His CD release, “Journey to Tir na nOg” A Celtic Odyssey showcases his broad talent. With its bewitchingly melodic instrumentals, this collection of haunting songs instantly transports the listener to “Tir na nOg” – The Land of Eternal Youth. Journey to  Tir na nOg has recently been followed up with his new album “Celtic Paradise” which is available on the Global Journey label. Frank has been a resident piano player/entertainer at Lefty O Doul’s in San Francisco for the past 10 years. You can find him at Lefty O Doul’s every Thursday Friday and Saturday nights. Frank appears at the Gold Dust Lounge on Fishermans’s Wharf every Friday and Saturday afternoon from 4-7 PM.
