Climbing Up

I composed this piece in February 1995 for a musical colleague whose young daughter was very unwell. Finding the score again whilst sorting music from long ago in my files was a poignant moment of retrospection. I hope you will hear a tenderness in the gentle shape of the melodies of the piece, a range of warm colours in the chord and key changes, and a sense of beauty in some of the textures.
