Rubina & André are a Cascais-based duo carrying the sacred lineage of house and techno’s earnest history as an extactic communal practice through hypnotic acid tones, jackin’ rhythms and squiggly basslines from analog hardware – TR909, TR808, TB303, SH101 and analogue effects. Locked, sometimes for hours, into shapeshifting harmonic, textural and rhythmic improvisations their “secretly” mythical appearances garnered them justified praise as one of the most exciting live acts working on the sprawling field of electronic music

Antippode is what happens when two drifters from the farthest corners of a continent fortuitously meet halfway in a random island. Antippode is the convergence of two harmonic and diametric forces under the Mediterranean sun. Antippode is about the unexpected, the sharing and the flow of things.

Antippode's machine-based electronic music performance combines arranged sequences with a great deal of live improvisation in order to generate the rich textures and compelling rhythms that define their distinctive sound.

Delving into the boundaries of their hardware synths, samplers, stomp-boxes and other unlikely paraphernalia, the Russian-Portuguese duo uncovers sonic realms that may emerge under the shape of high-voltage techno live performances, as they may present themselves under the guise of dreamy, otherworldly sound design works for drama, dance or new media.

Based at VIC // Aveiro Arts House, VIC NIC is our freshly baked circulatory device for sonic, visual and written artworks, aiming to stimulate togetherness, experimentation and co-creation by facilitating the research, production and dissemination of unique world views.

On the backroads of DIY culture, we will keep pushing this safe harbour for the wild at heart towards the creation of possible shared futures by openly facilitating the flight plans of time travel artifacts. We hope you join us.
