'I Would Have Left This Party By Now (If It Wasn't For You)' is the third single from my third album 'No Cages', which was released 4th July 2025.

The track will be released on Friday 1st August 2025 and will be available to download and stream from all major sites, as well as from my Bandcamp store.

'I Would Have Left This Party By Now (If It Wasn't For You)' is about being trapped in a situation you don't want to be in, whether that's a literal party, or something else, like the mess we currently find ourselves in in the world. 

It's a love song of sorts, about finding strength through love and the people you care about in your life, in this case, my wife Ali. 

The album 'No Cages' is available on limited edition CD, and to download and stream.

'No Cages' is my third album, and my first in seven years. 

It features the singles 'Simple Life' and 'Incomplete'.

It is my first collection of predominantly animal rights songs and covers topics such as intensive chicken farming, toxic masculinity, humane-washing / greenwashing, and the perception of vegans by a non-vegan world. The project also covers other themes such as loss and loneliness, how technology is disconnecting us from the real world, escaping from the human race, and the beauty of the ground beneath our feet.

It has been a labour of love, taking over two years to complete, delayed by various set-backs, most noticeably damage to my vocal chords. 

The album features over 40 contributors from across the world, including Vegan Queen V, Liz Mitchell (Terrorvision), Ian Haywood, Giles Bryant, and Chaos Collective (Blur). It was recorded at Half-ton Studios in Milton by Neil Rogers, mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Pixies), and features artwork by Tom Jones.

Tuesday's Gone

I recorded some sounds from a game of badminton I was playing and made a track out of it. The sports hall has some nice acoustics and reverb, but apart from that it was just an excuse for a simple melody and some intense sample mangling. Inspired by Orbital, and my good friends and fellow musicians Gav & Craig.

Gavin Chappell-Bates is a vegan indie-alternative-pop-rocker from Cambridgeshire, England. His music has featured on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2. He released his debut album ‘We Are The Ones’ in 2016, on R*E*P*E*A*T Records, followed up by his second album 'The Last One' in 2018. 

Gavin also co-founded Peace On Your Plate, a vegan musical collective, who made it to number 40 in the UK downloads chart in Xmas 2019 with a song of the same name. The collective followed this up with a full album ‘The Forest Garden’. He was also part of an electro-grunge duo, Star Pixel, who released the album ‘Hadron Kaleidoscope’ in 2022.
