The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom and one of the world's greatest libraries. We hold over 13 million books, 920,000 journal and newspaper titles, 57 million patents and 6 million sound recordings. Open to everyone, the Library offers events, temporary exhibitions and a Treasures Gallery that displays over 200 items, including Magna Carta, a Gutenberg Bible and lyrics by The Beatles.

I've been writing, performing and recording music since the early 1990's, though since 2000, most of my work has been as Hoochie Fig, with creative partner Keith Paton (Hoochie Fig has its own Soundcloud profile -see the links above).

This space is for my solo projects, which don't fit into the Hoochie Fig bag; and for my pre-Fig music, which I am currently digitizing and  re-mastering from multitrack analogue tape.

So, they'll be some odds and sods appearing here, some of it pretty lo-fi. Hopefully though, it'll all be entertaining for one reason or another!

Hello and welcome to the Bells of Scotland web resource, which at this point is hosted through Soundcloud.

The purpose of Bells of Scotland is to map the communities of Scotland, through the sounds of their bells.

Within a community the sound of a bell can make someone feel a sense of place and a collection of such sounds could create a collective sense of home for many people.

Such sounds are unique in modern times as they have been unchanged for many decades.

The project receives no funding and is not affiliated with any professional body or organisation and will run for as long as is possible in an effort to accumulate the whole country.
