Time Machine is a radio program on Refuge Worldwide, where myself and @geoffreylarue have one rule and one rule only: we can only play music from the same year. We also like to read facts on Wikipedia about said year, engage in playful banter, drink mezcal, and give away stupid prizes because we think we're a morning zoo show. You don't have to be caller number seven. You just have to be caller number one.

1984 really was a year to remember, and our exploration of it even more so! As always, Time Machine is a very special collaboration between myself and @adytoledano, which is recorded live from Neukölln at the @refugeworldwide studios on Weserstraße 166. Congratulations to our contest winner for correctly answering that Andrew Ridgeley's father worked for Canon in spite of the fact that I deliberately (?) kept referring to the forgotten member of Wham! as Andrew Ridgefield! We hope you like your Last Christmas T-Shirt! We must of course offer special thanks to Dalida (RIP) for her INCREDIBLE French-language version of Last Christmas (Reviens-Moi), to the bar for all the mezcal, and to our producer George's cheese plant, for encouraging us to be as cheesily 1984 as possible.

The entanglement of worlds might be one of the most important ideas and revelations that are shaping the cosmology of our era. A realization both of the dissolving of boundaries, borders, and limits and the growing complexity of bonds that hold us together as individuals and as collective entities. The borders of our own bodies, of the spaces we inhabit, of layers of time superposing, become a porous and sticky element where interiority becomes global, frontiers are set in by state brutality, and ghosts arise. Borders cannot be perceived as delimited lines but as a rich and tumultuous creator of trouble, life, and force. This immersive session curated by Diego Delgado is not strange to this contemporary topos and is derived from a porous sensibility made of loops, distortion, and noise that translate a nonlinear idea of time. Condensed in an hour, ‘Step a cross the border’ is an invitation through sound to inhabit a sensitive space built upon the desire of blurring boundaries that extends to musical genres and technical limits. A space inhabited and repossessed by lost times, future sounds, and dense imaginaries of the in-between. 

Diego Delgado is a graphic designer and visual artist. He was born in Madrid and had been living in Berlin since 2018, where he started his own music project under the name of CICCONE. For years, he has been filming live music and artist portraits that have shaped an extended and aesthetically variated archive of Berlin’s music scene, all hosted on his web octubre.tv

Geoffrey LaRue is a visual artist and record collector whose interests include comic book aesthetics, homespun fashions, and Godzilla. 

They are also passionate about disco music. In their spare time, Geoffrey also studies stage design at Berlin's Universität der Künste and also co-hosts a wacky radio show called Time Machine, which airs on Refuge Worldwide because why not?

Accompanying this page is a podcast Geoffrey curates entitled "Suck It Online With All Your Friends", which is dedicated to exploring a wide variety of vintage sounds and is also a bird survey.
