After a partnership with Be Well Festival/Public Broadcasting Music Television (PBMTV) during 2020, I started a weekly show on PBMTV.org showcasing DnB new releases along with some subgenera focus as well.

PBMTV show - Episode 1 - January 12, 2021

Sideswiping the part of the human genome that safeguards a stronghold of ambivalent memories, is never an easy task. Through a dynamic execution of future-focused melodies and strangely-distant sense of the faintest familiarity, Divination Recordings’ artist Spekski has reentered the throne room by reminding us all of the beast that sings inside. With an eclectic songwriting style and a sense of unapologetic originality, 2021 kicks off with retro synth stabs and a longing for closure. Do we stay here, or embark upon the start of the rest of our lives? 

Engineered by an enticing parallel of dark provocations, this technical, yet treacherous example of radical self-expression does what timeless music is supposed to do. It speaks for you. As the symphonic parallel of each spirit blindfolds bystanders with a sonic promise of false regularity, the subsequent rise in energy becomes an ever-changing clockwork of inconceivable proportions. As the kick rolls bleed through like an impending Déjà vu, a profound synergy of 80’s top line and pummeling bass riffs create a collective compound of absolute introspection. Stop. Open your eyes.

At Overview Music we are exceptionally proud to present the next instalment in our curated LP series: Zone.

Last year’s Zone 1 was a VA compilation of epic proportions and we’ve really kept our foot on the gas for the sequel, delving into D&B’s underground to A&R some of the best talent around.

Zone 2 sees a veritable who’s who of up and coming artists, like En:vy, Cauzer and Offline, rubbing shoulders with some Overview stalwarts (hello again Gran Calavera!) alongside some of the scene’s leading lights, like Trex, Objectiv and Molecular.

Everyone’s brought their A game and the LP is, to put it mildly, packed to the brim with 21 absolute weapons. We could go on and on about it, but you should really just experience it for yourself. Prepare your ears and strap in for the rollercoaster that is Zone 2.

DMR - Basic Bitch

Programme Notes:

Tentatively a Robin emerges into a woodland clearing, rustling her feathers, singing and stretching her wings (bar 1). Her right wing hangs more limply than the left, she can move it, but not well. She abruptly attempts to take flight (bar 9), only to fall back to the ground. Confused, the Robin pauses before continuing to sing mournfully and flap her injured wing fruitlessly (bar 12), becoming increasingly distressed. Resting for a second the Robin recalls wistfully the feeling of flying (bar 29), before the memory becomes bittersweet. Determined she prepares herself to try once again, hopeful and singularly focused on achieving her objective (bar 42). She launches herself into the air,
hovering briefly (bar 61) before slowly sinking back to the ground. Hopping indignantly (bar 64) the Robin starts to fall into despair (bar 67), despair building to terror as she thinks of the many predators that inhabit the floor of the woods (bar 74). 
  
She pauses the rest once again, singing, but it sounds hollow (bar 48). Steeling herself she prepares for a final attempt (bar 96), taking off and rising further than ever before, high above the trees (bar 104). She falters and starts to descend (bar 108), however from up high she can see her nest in the trees below. She struggles towards it, getting closer and closer before finally touching down gently in the safety of her woodland home (bar 120).
