Revered UK house producer Jimpster steps up to remix an Andrea Ljekaj track which is taken from Ljekaj's recent Croatia, Get Physical! EP.

Andrea Ljekaj has long been Get Physical Music's man on the ground in Croatia - a party promoter, DJ and producer who knows the scene inside out and showcases the best of it on various compilations for this label. His latest outing featured the original of 'Wonders Never Cease' feat. Je Veux which is included here. It's a compelling mix of broken beats and bass-heavy deep house with great swing and alluring female vocals.

Jimspter is one of the UK's most venerated house artists with a career that spans multiple decades. He is the man behind the respected Freerange label and someone who has always brought fresh invention to deep house. His musical take on the genre is rich and emotive and he has always been an in-demand remixer.

His first fantastic remix rolls on deep, warm drums and allows the full vocal to unfurl up top with an irresistibly pained sense of soul next to the lithe keys and heart-melting chords. He also provides a dub that uses the vocal more sparingly but to just as great an effect.

This is an intimate house package for cosy dance floors and special moments.

'This June, Daniel Jaeger and Andrea Ljekaj bring their fresh perspectives to Cook Strummer's standout 2020 single 'Rising'.
The original of ‘Rising’ was part of the Words Don't Come Easy Vol. 7 compilation and aimed to get dancers in a state of transcendence. First up to remix it here is Berlin's Daniel Jaeger, a respected artist with an impactful sound on labels like Criminal Bassline, Katermukke and Bar 25 Music. He retains the warmth and organic feel of the original, but layers in an elastic bassline that gets you moving. The filtered vocals have a mournful edge, while the synths rise up and down the scale to bring a sense of hope.
Andrea Ljekaj is one of Croatia's most accomplished artists. Since 2019 he has run Croatia Gets Physical, which unearths and promotes the best new artists in his homeland. He also releases on this label, Oddity and Elrow, and has a powerful sound that often comes tinged with dancefloor euphoria. His expressive, textured take on 'Rising' has a darker feel, with pained vocals and prickly percussion churning over a menacing baseline. It's a gritty track that brings a freaky vibe to the floor.'

Get Physical shines a light on exciting Croatian talents with a fourth EP of local music. 

This fantastic EP opens up with Jan Kinčl, a multi-faceted Zagreb-born DJ, producer, live act, radio host, promoter, and label owner. He has been shaping his native scene for the last 20 years with music on legendary labels such as Sonar Kollektiv and Far Out. His excellent 'Suede' is a deep house groove with lush synths and jazzy keys that take you to a classy sunset party on the Adriatic sea. Laseech is a younger artist but with an equally important influence thanks to bestselling releases on Lumberjacks In Hell and support from the likes of Soul Clap, Chez Damier, and Horse Meat Disco. His 'Pink Sky' is built on a bubbling, broken house groove cut though with sun-worshipping synths, lush xylophones, and a beautifully warm sense of soul. 

Andrea Ljekaj is a multi-award winner with a powerful sound who heads up the Croatia Gets Physical project with A&R and local events. He is working on his debut album, but before that comes 'Fragile,' a masterfully languid, raw track with stumbling drum work, crisp hits, and real synth tension that keeps you locked. 

DJ Jock has been releasing music since his teenage years and on top techno labels, including Carl Cox’s Intec, Phobia and Suara. He is a techno mainstay who counts Adam Beyer and Carl Cox as fans. Here he serves up the excellent 'Only You Can Make Me High,' a euphoric, hands-in-the-air piano-laced breakbeat anthem that is unashamedly emotional. Finally, Ana Antonova is another Get Physical regular who has been lighting up her native scene as a DJ, producer, and promoter for years. From house to jazz to soul, she does it all. 'Oblo' is perfectly deep and dubby, with deft keys layered into the heavy drums and booming bass to make for a cavernous, all-consuming trip. 

EP 4 is a vital collection of tracks that captures the unique essence of Croatia's electronic sound.

So there we are. Teenage years are over, the wild times are still ahead, though. Keinemusik turns twenty – all hands in the air! In celebration of this biographical moment of glory the whole crew is circling up in brotherly and sisterly embrace. Make an high-angle shot, what does it look like? Like a ring of course. So therefore youʼll find the signet ring on this picture discʼs A-side. 

The flip is tagged with what this symbol of companionship is leaving, once itʼs used properly. So thereʼs a signed and sealed big up to everyone who has supported keinemusik so far. No. 20 prettied itself up a bit and commends itself as a nice little collectorʼs item. Still as a decent spinning item as well, containing these pumping features: 

On A1 (aka the ring side) David Mayer opens up with “Machinedrum Calypso”, a relentless Tech-monster with classy percussive decoration, lurking single notes, malicious synths and a roller coaster ride of breaks and full tilt. Perfect opener! 

Next in line is “Think”, falling out of &MEʼs never failing machines. Initially, the kick tends to hide behind some cryptically cut vocal-scraps, but once itʼs grooving at full level, thereʼll be no dry corner left on the floor. Add some sub-bassy guts massage and some highly effective break-stuffing and you have a picture of this guyʼs current sure shot. 

The seal side contains another surprising new Adam Port-cut. “Burana” starts out as a funked out, crackling Disco-beat-skeleton, incorporates a tongue in cheek bassline and some offset hi-hats and once in a while is raising up to cloud nine of synth-paradise. Devoid of any vocal trace there is a potential secret favourite grooving from second row. 

Rampa is aiming for an unlike feisty spot landing for the grand finale. His “AY” offers microscopic fiddling on his percussive tribal rataplan and some decent feverish shaman dance. As a counterpart, he inserts an übercool bass into the background and if needed, an übercool bass into the foreground as well. One glimpse should show that ʻpeaktimeʼ is written all over this bitch.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output.
