Cook Strummer has complied the latest Berlin Gets Physical but first comes a second EP taken from it with two fresh cuts.

This one opens up with a collaboration between Daniel Jaeger - a German underground mainstay who has put out a huge number of high quality tunes over the last decade - and fellow house talent and Jaeger’s brother Valenti. 'Quarantine Cowboys' is Valenti’s first ever release but is hugely accomplished with a superbly low-slung groove, a dirty bass guitar and hiccuping beats. It seduces in its own sleazy fashion, with filtered spoken words adding to the steaminess. It all adds up to a fresh house sound indeed.

Berlin-born Pardon Moi and Feinstoff founder, multi-instrumentalist and touring DJ Freudenthal has a dark wave sound that is all his own. Here he pair up with DJ and producer, Nowhere People, an artist who has been on the scene for a decade now, releasing on labels like Blaufield Music and Imprint Rural and playing regularly at the likes of Kater Blau. ‘Cipher’ is designed for strobe lit dance floors and comes with lashings of wave influences as this track proves. It’s a stark cut with slapping hits, rugged bass and rave lines that amp up the energy levels, as brilliantly cosmic synth patterns unfold up top to bring the light and ensure maximum impact on the floor.

With this second EP, the scene is now set for the arrival of the full compilation later in September.

Three years after Reno Wurzbacher’s entry into the series, Cook Strummer now offers up his own Berlin Gets Physical, a collection of all-new and exclusive tracks.

This collection will come digitally but also as two different vinyl versions - one will be available publicly, the other is a special edition produced together with the Belgian gallery, Mazel Galerie. The cover art for it was designed by Lyon-based street artist, Brusk and the original will be auctioned by the same gallery in Brussels.

Berlin-based, Belgium-born Strummer has been a Get Physical associate for several years. He has dropped various singles including the standout 'Rising' which also featured on the Words Don't Come Easy series, and always crafts the perfect mix of rhythm and melody with plenty of hints of his homeland's famous cold wave sound. He often uses his own voice, drum machines, synths and guitars in his music, and since his debut album in 2018 on LOK Recordings, he has had high profile support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Adam Port and Ame. This summer, he dropped 'Atmosphere' on Obsolet Records which proved another successful outing and now Berlin Gets Physical finds him digging deep into the famous city's freshest and most essential house sounds across 15 well-sequenced tracks.

His own new offering 'For Berlin' kicks off with a dark and edgy vibe, gothic vocals and tense drums. Glitchy hits and blurting synths add to the prickly atmosphere and immediately lock you in while Los Cabra & Manuel Sahagun's 'Italian Groove' then takes off on waves of serrated dark disco synths and Freudenthal feat. Nowhere People continue that macho disco vibe with the rugged chug and cosmic rays of 'Cipher.'

The twinkling 'Bad Karma' by Marvin Jam & Le Mythe then allows you to catch your breath with a slower, more spacious dub disco sound and the twanging bass riffs and exotic effects of Daniel Jaeger & Valenti's 'Quarantine Cowboys' rebuilds the atmosphere with some innovative house blues. The mid-section brings brain-frying synth work on 'Out Of The Blue', bubbling dub house and disco courtesy of dramasquad's sprawling 'ziggy' and percussive deep house looseness from 'Abayomi.'

After KEENE's rubbery and rolling Afro sounds comes more cosmic house richness from Dan Buri and Max Joni & MUKKIMIAU, the driving tech of Red Pig Flower & Lulla and heady sounds of Mike Book. There is a raw house heaviness to FreedomB's 'State of Shock' and things shut down with Electronic Elephant's tightly coiled minimal drum funk on 'Ask Yourself'.

This on point collection is an authentic snapshot of the contemporary underground sound of the Berlin.

After two hotly-anticipated releases, Aiwaska is back on Bar 25 Music with the new record ¨Harmony¨, made in collaboration with duo Abandon. His production expertise has seen him deliver releases for such esteemed dance music imprints as Exploited, Crosstown Rebels, and House Music With Love. It’s also bought him to collaborate with a whole host of legendary vocalists, such as Robert Owens, Roland Clark, Egyptian Lover, and Aquarius Heaven.

No wonder, Aiwaska has a global fanbase and has performed at many established venues such as Burning Man Festival and Odessey. He has also recently started his own monthly radio show with the reputable Ibiza Sonica Radio. His work has been highly praised by both Mixmag & DJ Mag over the past year or so, and a promising future lies in store for him, no doubt.

Abandon was born in 2019, the same year their very first EP “Queen & Priest“came to light on the label Dantze from the label boss NICONÉ. Minoas Cirillo and Timothée Toussaint share the same taste and vision for electronic music, so it was obvious for them to create this project in the beginning. Just like this collaboration with Aiwaska that came across naturally. As a result, we have a six pieces  EP — two tracks, “Harmony” and “Afterlife”, three versions of each called Day Mix, Night Mix Sundown. Together, they collect every mood you can think of while listening to a good Melodic House record.

A lot has happened in the last 20 years of dance music, but one constant has been Get Physical right at the sharp end of the scene. The label has become a globally recognised symbol of quality, renowned for its always varied and vital house output. Forming the backbone of the label's vast catalogue is the influential in-house DJ mix series, Body Language. It is a snapshot of exactly where the underground is at and has been assembled by tastemakers such as Azari & III, Catz ‘N Dogz, Dixon, DJ Hell, Francesco Tristano, Nôze and of course label-founders Booka Shade, DJ T., and M.A.N.D.Y..

Next to that there has been a constant stream of innovative, dance-floor ready singles, crossover club classics, seminal remixes and a number of standout artist albums. The label has always stayed true to its house roots, but with a rich array of influences taken from the worlds of disco, deep, tech and melodic house. Along the way, Get Physical´s core artists have been joined by red hot new talents including Alinka, Thandi Draai, PAUZA, Yulia Niko, Birds Of Mind, CIOZ and Monkey Safari. There have also been carefully considered forays into thriving house music scenes in Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Croatia and India: dedicated compilations and EPs have highlighted those region's most exciting new talents and given them a global platform. 

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal. It was true in 2002, and it will be true in 2025 and beyond.
