“Reunion”, the debut album by Alex Barck created quite a stir last year. Now two 12inch releases make sure that this stir is not fading away by any time soon. Two 12inches that include remixes by the current creme de la creme of electronic dance music production.

After Osunlade delivered already last year an outstanding rendition of the album track “Oh Africa” it’s now up to Amsterdam based producer and DJ Full Crate to get his hands on this declaration of love to a whole continent. Masterfully he accomplishes this endeavour while weaving Christine Salem’s voice along a twisted shuffle beat and drives the track to the next level by adding stabbing synth chords. Full contact!

On the flipside the enigmatic British production duo Mao take us by surprise with their reinterpretation of “Doubter”. All of a sudden Jonatan Bäckelie finds himself in a dripstone cave. The massive beat framework props the whole track from not being torn down by the never ending echoing vocals. It’s with this courageous proposition that Mao for once and all ensure to be one of the production teams to look out for in 2014.

For the digital release Barck ordered another two additional remixes. Ada (by now based in Hamburg and on Pampa Records) doesn’t even make a move to adapt the track for one of her infamous techno sets. She rather sets for a sound that is labelled now PBR&B or Alternative R&B. This woman is not only on a roll, she is highly involved to redefine electronic music. This remix is a testimonial letter.

In a similar way Tokyo based producer Phil Gerus is putting his head above the parapet. Up to now his productions and remixes were always to be found near the crate tagged chillwave. But now he takes a giant step towards the future. He acts like a goldsmith, cutting the vocals to its crystalline form to restructure them within a breathtaking arrangement spiked with samples. A masterpiece.

Niki Sadeki (@nikisadeki) is a DJ, musician, and the host of the monthly podcast series 'Allure' on Frisky Radio. She's also the founder of Deep House Vancouver (@deephousevancouver), a platform dedicated to showcasing DJs, musicians from various genres of electronic music through carefully crafted podcasts, premieres and releases. Due in no small part to her popular online mixes, she has steadily gained recognition within the dance music community. With her dedication and untiring perseverance, Niki has managed to put herself on the map as an up and coming DJ and musical artist within a very short time. With music at the forefront, she has been travelling globally and playing in renowned venues in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dubai, Kyrenia and Berlin. 
 
Hence, in this 113th edition you'll notice her focus on deep, melodic and ethereal dance music, conveying her expression of life to listeners and engages crowds through her live sets when she’s behind the decks, and through dozens of podcasts and studio mixes. It is the beginning of a new era. After moving to Berlin 1 and a half years ago, I had a long and difficult pause where I was simply figuring out life. And so, with it, Getting Deeper also went into hiding. Slowly but surely, with my own resurrection I am happy to resurrect Getting Deeper back into life. 

Marking the resurrection is this stunning Live set by Padouc. I don’t do Live sets very often, simply because I don’t get many submissions and also because it is very hard to find a good quality live set that is suitable as an online podcast; one that is fitting to the ears and headphones of those of us who are moving, pausing, and taking a break and sometimes spending secret, special moments of joy in our own little caves. 

So what makes this set so fitting and so special in its aliveness? It is simply as alive as a live set can get:  a post-electronic, psychedelic infusion of sublime and ethereal textures. Beautifully crafted, with a consistent and patient progression that will take you on a slow and transgressing journey of self-love (that’s if you enjoy it).

 Moving to the dark Quito district under melodic Cumbia. Restoring in Madeira under the gentle motif of the Portuguese divas. We are bathh attendants in a hammam in the Turkish quarter of Topkapi, clapping for antique beats. Drinking warm tea under the hot sun of Tehran. Dancing with gypsy children in suburbs of Bucharest under dexterous folk.Oyeeeeee.
