Abstraal is a French duo with a shamanic sound. They cook up the sort of absorbing grooves that get you moving and always stir up a storm on the dance floor. Based in Lyon, Tutti & Castelz have been combing their powers for a couple of years now, but have ten years of friendship to draw on when casting their musical spells on dance floors all over Germany, Spain, France, England and Denmark.

“We are born from the elastic union of astral scientists in a secret lab” they say of how they cook up their otherworldly sounds: always with afro tinges, melodic synths and an ethnic feel, their music is never too dark and always designed for dancing late into the night. It has come on labels like Natura Viva Music, the vital Family Piknik Music and Click Records, with high profile supporters like Laurent Garnier, Black Coffee, Township Rebellion, Anna, Ida Engberg, Shall Ocin, James Zabiella all dropping & supporting Abstraal tunes in their sets.

Despite being a relatively new duo, this pair made an immediate mark: they have already had Top 20 hits on the Beatport Melodic House & Techno Chart with "Massalia" and a Top 20 Afro Track with "The Ancient One", as well dropping a big free edit of Kavinsky’s ‘Nightcall’ which also picked up plenty of plays.

Beyond DJing and producing, Abstraal are dictating trends in dance music in many other ways. "Based on Real Facts" is their monthly radio show on Datatransmisison and has seen them host guests like Glowal, Phunkadelica, Citizen Kain, Space Motion, Ivan Masa and more. As well as this, they run their own cult and pivotal parties in Lyon under the XLR Events banner and have done for seven years now. As such, Abstraal are deeply involved in dance music, shaping it in their own unique way and making a lasting impression with whatever they do.

For our next Chrom release we are happy to present you an EP from an artist who was already on our wish list for quite some time: Eleven Of July from Italy, a true artist with a large experience in electronic music. Old school trained, his strong knowledge especially of techno music makes him a multifaceted selector when it comes to fill dancefloors worldwide, being able to travel between different sub genres like ambient techno, melodic techno, raw industrial techno & progressive house. Eleven Of July is also a respected, well known and prolific music producer of dark atmospheric techno, having released on labels such as Krafted, Dear Deer, Natura Viva, Duenia, Isolabella, Awen, Rezongar,...

On his Chrom EP called "Dark Whispers" he presents us 2 originals. The title track is a super powerful ethereal/melodic techno gem. The second track "V Like Very Beautiful" is a bit more atmospheric, sitting between progressive house and melodic techno. Both originals are completed with amazing remix interpretations from Riggel and Pedro Mercado & Karada.

Riggel, also from Italy and the new alias of M. Caporale, is known from releases on Steyoyoke, BeatFreak, Project 13, Récits de Mars, Polyptch,... The Riggel project was born to explore new electronic melodic dark techno territories, influenced by the analog sounds of the past, proposing ethereal and deep sounds inspired by minimalist art ready for a new future. Riggel delivers a mighty deeper version of the title track "Dark Whispers".

And last but not least there is also a remix of the B-side track, from the hands of our royal duo Pedro Mercado & Karada. After 2 solo remixes, our label manager Pedro Mercado teams up again with his fixed studio partner Karada to do what they are known for: delivering another stunning progressive house remix!

After a 2018 debut for PHW Elements, Sebastian Sellares has made increasingly sizeable waves with his smooth and unique musical style. Already seeing his music signed to an array of high-profile imprints including onedotsixtwo, UV and Or Two Strangers, Proton Music's 'Zen State / Jinsei' was a further notable highlight in October 2020 including remixes from Matias Chilano and Bedrock's Nick Muir.

The title-track opener is a gloriously atmospheric offering that builds gently over a rhythmic foundation of rolling top-line groove and pounding beat. Filtered pads soon enter the fray followed by atmospheric birdsong effects and rippling arpeggiated synth line that resonate with the 'Dunes at Dawn' title. Rising to a spine-tingling zenith at the mid-point alongside deep, captivating bassline, the second half continues the rich melodic collage creating a sumptuous start to the EP.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic basis of the opener, 'The Stars Above' scintillates with its chugging rhythmic vibe and syncopated bassline pattern. Evolving through subtle percussive urgency, dreamlike pads float across the mid-range beside steam-powered white noise waves, before intricately programmed synth plucks complete the foundations. Before long, undulating arpeggios glitter in delayed patterns as counterpoint phrasing adds emotion and guile to create a contemplative offering.

'Nocturne' completes the musical triptych, revelling in a subtle melodic hypnotism that blends acid-tinged loops with flowing analogue motifs. Panning the stereo spectrum with plucked phrases, a magnificent combination of counterpoint melodies rise and fall across a nine-minute magnum opus that results in another string to Sellares' increasingly powerful bow.

Baime means fear in Lithuanian, but this story actually starts with joy. A joy of listening to music, producing music, and sharing music with the world. That joy ties Copenhagen-based Jens Christian Nørgaard and Mikael Melander close together.
Shortly after meeting at a Kölsch Q&A in 2015, Jens and Mikael formed a friendship that quickly turned into a partnership: Baime was born. The name comes from the initial fear of trying wild, new things and serves as a constant inspiration for the two to overcome their reservations and turn the fear of the unknown into joy; a joy that should be shared just like Jens and Mikael share a love for the same sounds; together in the booth, studio and on Blindfold Recordings. 
The small but dedicated Danish underground took the duo in immediately, and they quickly rose to fame by playing all over the capital as well as the rest of the country. Not long after their first studio session, they were invited to create their own club nights at Culture Box plus the late, great KB18. Soon thereafter, the duo was asked to play landmarks like Roskilde Festival, German clubs such as the renowned Watergate and Ritter Butzke and even the top of the Copenhagen Opera house. Whilst releasing their music on Sincopat and Watergate Records as well as being a frequent flyer on Jonas Saalbach’s Radikon.

PREMIERE: Ian Ludvig & Idd Aziz - Nature (Original Mix) [Connected]

'A welcome returnee to Proton Music, Matter has a host of powerful original and remix material to his name, both under solo and collaborative guises, making him a firm favourite with the label faithful. Through his "Pronoia" and "We Are Dust" EPs, the Australian shone a light on his creative talent in 2016 and 2017, while collaborations with fellow Melbourne resident, GMJ, have seen the duo light up the label with a trio of original EPs. Remixes of Dousk, Embliss and Michael A have shone a different light on Matter's talent as he now returns with a typically impressive sound, characterised by a whip-cracking kick and rolling groove. A trademark bassline full of power and emotion muscles its way across the low end as subtle melodic touches hint at elements from Molosh's original. A glorious progression, layered with textured pads, form the perfect foundation for the piano so redolent in the original to take its rightful place at the centre, as arpeggios from the Matter arsenal wax and wane across the top. Building to a rousing crescendo at the mid-point the sequence hits its stride again in the third movement to incredible effect.'

Having shared the decks with everyone from Cubicolor to Martin Roth, and having a debut EP on Bedrock earlier this year, Canada's juSt b is swiftly becoming a name too hard to ignore. Her debut release on Balance delivers an exceptionally cerebral track that will sit flush in many sets. Also featured are four quality remixes that take in everything from deep techno, to breaks and more…

The deep beat on 'Light Sweeper' is undeniable with its mysterious energy. Glacial synths sweep the top end while being punctured by pondering piano stabs. There is bipolar nature to the production: warm and enveloping in the lows yet cold and wintry in the highs. It's a steady rhythm intent on intoxicating you.

The @audioglider remix reconstitutes the original into a thick, almost Amen breaks like direction. The synths are blown up to an optimal size and layered into a melodic sequence, keeping the original mystery. The breakdown is progressive house bliss, melancholy without being saccharine, before crashing back into the rhythm with added vocal by juSt b and soaring strings.

@jameswelsh's deep techno take is filled with percolating percussive hits and melodic arps weaving in and out of each other with total abandon. Featuring a considerably bigger kick, this is one to kickstart the main room.

The @mattrmusic remix starts off minimal with a deep meta physical engine, a hulking rhythm that slowly moves forward. Two separate breakdowns introduce a rising melody soaked in emotion, and the latter explodes into a 4/4 pattern that will sound divine on a dusty festival dancefloor.

If you're after the perfect opening track, look no further than the elegant remix from @ev3rsun. With its delightful opening 2 minute sequence, it is one part ambient and one part secret waiting to be told. It breaks into a gentle rhythm that sets the mood for what's to follow.

Kiz Pattison has teamed up with the vocal talents of Asyn, on his first solo release with us. Come A Bit Closer, is a stripped back progressive journey! Pattison has purposefully made Asyn’s airy vocal the star of the show. With added trademark effects running throughout, we think that Come A Bit Closer is Pattison’s best work to date.

With releases on Renaissance, Balance, and many other respected imprints. Mattr has gained much respect with his progressive breaks sound. His remix provides a balance between day time parties, to sunrise settings, rounding off another fantastic release that we are very proud of.

"Parallels began as I explored synths, sounds, textures, and melodic motifs from my early days (even childhood) in dance music. I broke out all my old synths both analog and virtual analog, and dove back into classic sound design, wondering why I had put them down in the first place. This reconnection with my past taught me quite a few things, but most importantly: I learned to take things a bit less seriously, and not give a fuck.

I’ve always found it challenging to merge my two passions in electronic music: the dance floor, and the more heady home listening environment. That’s why I specifically decided to challenge myself further and include both sonic landscapes in one track: Parallels. It starts as a 100BPM idm-infused half time hard techno (in my eyes) track, that gradually builds to an electro-slammed full on classic trance revival moment. This is the first time I’ve fused both sonic passions of mine into one whole piece, and I’m very sure this will not be the last!

The EP sweeps across my musical mood board of everything from hyper emotive string sections augmented by modular synth patterns, to more whimsical tuned percussive ear worms. The most exciting part for me was the self discovery of understanding that these two wildly different sides of my musical curiosity can exist in parallel with each other, harmoniously and non conflicted. I proudly present Parallels in its entirety today, and look forward to exploring this concept even further."

Last but not least we invite the rising sound of Renga Weh, the German young talent provides a deep production that represents his style. The track stands out with a set of synths and playful percussions that layer into a crescendo sound waves"

This track is surely our personal favorite, last one was "Miracle d'Hwange" 3 years ago. 

Aitnema opens this record with its gliding melodies and psychedelic sounds. Acoustic drums meet electronic samples to create a hybrid and rousing beat. Mysterious tribal vocals dance around haunting synthesizers, intertwining the percussive layers intimately. It's time to dive into waves of synths 

STORY : 
Aitnema is the main track, after that the hero of the EP has discovered his new environment in the first track "Hiver", he now easily explores this new world in Aitnema! Freedom is the word !
He is full of joy, he thinks he has found his element, he learns from his environment and acts in accordance with it. Then came the "break".. Finally he realizes that by contemplating what surrounds him, he actually learns more about himself too, he realizes his smallness in this world. The individual alone is nothing but a snowflake on a mountain, as ephemeral as it is insignificant.

Finally during the second part of the song, it is the osmosis of his united discoveries that make him realize one thing :  it was by being free that he accepted to be a prisoner of his curiosity. This is how he sees happiness.
