The first of a series of mixes that charts the evolution of trance, from it's roots in the early 90s to the world domination of the turn of the century.  This one takes in some KLF tracks from 1988 and 1989.  A very different sound from the sound of modern trance but the building blocks are there - the hypnotic rhythms,  the sweeping synths.

[Hard House/Trance] Essential Guide To Baby Doc & Jon The Dentist (1994-1999)

1993 was the year that trance really solidified. I'm not sure your average clubgoer would be able to identify trance outside of a very small crowd, but. If you were in the right spot, the euphoric and melodic sounds of trance were just getting rolling. The music from 1993 is really quite amazing for the time and technology, some of which still sounds fresh 30 years later. Extremely rare, any info on it would be greatfully appreciated. Recorded off the radio, believed to be done in advance of Trade`s 11th Birthday in 2001. The tunes are more indicative of the hard trance that was around at the time rather than the harder sounds Emma was more reknowned for. Nicely mixed, really well programmed and some nice human touches on it that show that it wasn`t done on a sequencer. Lovely, thanks Emma! Thanks a million to Jamie Haig for sharing a wicked part of our musical heritage, another part of the rich tapestry, another piece of the puzzle. Thanks also to my son Daniel for sellotaping what was 11 seperate sound files together. Try as I might, I can`t find the joins, there aren`t any!

Trancentral had a musical identity that favoured relentless drive over uplifting melodies with a split of Hard Trance and Acid Techno that brought the squat party vibe to bigger venues across the city.
