French producer Jats makes his Purified Records debut with his 3-track ‘Rituals of Dreams’ EP. Showcasing his powerful sound, this EP demands attention from the very first beat, exploring captivating soundscapes from the title track into ‘The Perfect Sky’, and ‘Lost Planet’.

The ‘Rituals of Dreams’ artwork features a stunning photograph of a zebra shark, captured by Daniel Nicholson. The zebra shark is a distinct shark species that inhabits shallow coral reef areas in tropical waters. Their unique adaptations include barbels for locating prey, a flexible body for navigating tight spaces and the ability to suck up prey with their small mouths and strong gill muscles. As they mature, they undergo a change in appearance, transforming from dark brownish with yellowish stripes as juveniles, to small black dots on a tan body. Zebra sharks are nocturnal foragers, hunting on small prey like fish, snails, sea urchins, crabs and invertebrates in crevices. They can grow to almost 12 feet in length and have few natural predators. Their main threat is human activities such as fishing for their meat, liver and fins. They are listed as endangered according to the IUCN.

Located on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, Daniel Nicholson is one of the globe’s most prominent professional underwater photographers. He seeks to share the beauty and magic of the underwater world to inspire conservation and change.

Closing 2023 with a breathtaking selection of new music, Purified Fragments returns for its seventeenth installment. Featuring three pristine productions, this compilation showcases music from Polish artist Rafa’EL (Soulmotion), Italian producer Birø (løst it all) and Argentine duo Cimmerian & Luciano F (Interconnect).

The Fragments XVII artwork displays a spectacular photograph of a jellyfish by Daniel Nicholson. Ancient inhabitants of the seas, jellyfish fascinate with their ethereal and often mesmerizing presence. These gelatinous organisms, encompassing a wide variety of species, have evolved an array of survival strategies, from venomous tentacles to bioluminescence. Their population dynamics, influenced by factors like warming waters and nutrient-rich habitats, underscore their adaptability to changing environments. Studying jellyfish's ecological roles is crucial as they influence marine food webs and serve as indicators of ocean health. Organizations like the Marine Biological Association contribute to the ongoing scientific exploration of jellyfish, shedding light on their importance in the larger context of marine ecosystems. Lack of comprehensive data makes it challenging to assess the conservation status of most jellyfish species according to the IUCN Red List.

Partial Press Release: The 41st release on microCastle welcomes Khen to the label for his debut EP. The young Israeli artist has been touted as one of his country's foremost electronic music talents. Undoubtedly a future global star, the long-time favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur has risen to his greatest heights in 2015, with a recent release on Lost & Found Records, preceded by similarly excellent material for Sudbeat Music and Parquet Recordings. Now closing the year out on a high note, Khen makes his long awaited debut on microCastle with the 'Pollen Spreader' EP, alongside a remix from the always excellent Luca Bacchetti.

The EPs third selection and also its title cut 'Pollen Spreader' finds Khen exploring the more subversive, electronica realm of his studio repertoire. The classically styled analog production flows through a myriad of indistinct motifs and subtle musical themes, eventually converging for several poignant moments. For Khen it was a track constructed to begin a long set with, as he describes "The first thing that went through my mind with 'Pollen Spreader' was that it was set out to be a track to start a long main set with. I focused on 808 samples for a steady groove combined with Hammond chords, Rhodes and analogue synthesizers resulting in a timeless feel."

The lone interpretation of 'Pollen Spreader' is provided by Luca Bacchetti who is making his first appearance on microCastle. The Italian artist and Endless label boss now calls Barcelona, Spain home. His diverse musical tastes have shaped his storied career, and filled his discography with immaculate creations on All Day I Dream, Crosstown Rebels, Ovum Recordings and his own Endless imprint. Luca carries inspiration from art, architecture and his world travels, all of which contribute to his ever evolving, border-less approach to production. His elegant craftsmanship has been touching the hearts and minds of electronic music lovers for years and he's turned in a splendid rendition of 'Pollen Spreader' here. While retaining the tough, analog appeal of the original Luca has created his own unforgettable designs, which come to life following a stylized first act of jangly hooks. After stripping down, the piece flows through a tension filled section of dynamic beats and new found vocal elements, before the poignant theme is unleashed for a heavenly finale. As Luca says " When I do a remix I need to get inspired and I need to find the right elements to develop my own vision, it’s a state of mind, a place which I can’t explain beyond a certain point otherwise I empty it of its content and meaning… With these 9 minutes, I hope to bring you there! Islove, it was important for me to musically reach back to my underground house roots.  Getting lost in a sea of A&R’s and indecision-makers, and going through an entirely new process of commercial record writing - with session musicians, vocalists, lyricists etc. - it was the opposite world of writing that I made my records (and success) from many years ago.  I needed to take a break and get back to writing these instrumental pieces where the riffs ARE the vocal lines, and the vibe was a sort of hypnotic mysticism mixed with late night mind bending chasers. ‘Into The Deep’ is a celebration of forward thinking progressive house music - a dash of eccentric and brash synth melodies juxtaposed with bright uppity grand piano chords and warped out arpeggiations.  This is a cohesive body of music here and I wrote this all from around August of 2015 until October (around 3 months).  The first single EP from this album is called ‘Into The Deep’ and it has a very rich sound to it especially in the baseline.  I used a custom series 80 Neve console to get that wide character and the whole piece just really glued together with my mixing approach on this one.  I love the synths in the midsection and the texture to those sounds.  Perfect for late night dark room mash out venues.  On the B Side is ‘Bumblebee’ and that one is a Space Ibiza terrace early night kind of vibe - big room sound, tight percussion and groove, and huge analog synth swells.  I hope you enjoyed this EP as much as I did writing it and if you can give your feedback that helps me very much!

Born in the city of Lille, France, Clawz SG has been a devout electronic music enthusiast for a long time and an old-school synth aficionado, having collected an impressive selection of numerous analogue vintage synthesizers. His debut release with Parquet Recordings in 2014, was a significant milestone with two cuts, 'Obvious' and 'Abyss'. From there, he has remixes & originals on imprints such as TRAUM, Natura Viva, Inlab Recordings, Blendwerk, Save Us Records and Making You Dance Records.

Multi-platinum record selling musician and record producer, Glenn Morrison is the archetype of the modern DJ/producer star. The 37-year-old Toronto native is as happy rocking an underground house party as he is performing at an exclusive oceanic rooftop venue; as adept at composing an international club anthem like ‘Contact’ as he is at concocting a pop dance record that strikes to the Billboard Charts in America.  His single ‘Goodbye’ has been Certified Double Platinum and went Number 1 for 11 weeks in a row on the Canadian Billboard Chart, as well as going Number 1 in Russia’s Billboard Chart.  It wound up taking over Eastern Europe and became Number 1 in 7 Countries to date.

He is signed to Sony Records, Universal Music Group and Sony Music ATV as a writer, producer, & recording artist. Morrison is a difficult DJ to pigeonhole and that’s what makes him such a fascinating talent. One minute his sound is ruthlessly minimal and funky; the next it’s washed in color and vocals and emotion.

Glenn has had an unusual career path. He started off as a classical pianist, a preteen prodigy, performing  – and winning – competitions. Then came a life-changing encounter with electronic music.

Production continues apace in the new mastering studio Morrison has built in Toronto, entitled Alpine Mastering (www.alpinemastering.com). Be it sound design for video game companies like Nintendo, EA Sports, Activision or Rockstar, or his own productions, he simply doesn’t stop making and playing music.  His latest partnership with IMAX has been a thrilling experience, pushing the boundaries of electronic music to that of sound-scoring live theatre visuals.  Glenn & IMAX unveiled this concept with a 3 part show series at the 2012 ComicCon event held at the Ruben H Fleet Science Centre in San Diego, and it was a huge success. “It’s been a liberating transition for me to make music for all different stylistic purposes, and I’m very grateful for having the ability to do what I love for a living” says Glenn.
