The piano part consists of a single note repeated in the fashion that sonar pulses are used for locating submarines.
The cello and violin are meant to represent engine rumble.
The double bass plays almost subsonic notes to resemble depth charges.
On top of this canvas a simple sequence of melodic phrases are played on the Armenian duduk.

I like this, and its a great idea behind it to... gives it some coherence

This piece was intended to be a movement in "The Silver Chord", a suite in A minor for grand piano, violoncello and double bass.

This is the first piece of a series about rainy moods ... 
As I live in Hamburg - a city that has even more rain than London - I will find lots of inspiration ;-) 

I dedicate this piece to my friend and well-known SoundClouder http://soundcloud.com/lee-lucas ... for whom unfortunately things didn't went so well in the last weeks. Always remember Lee: rain is followed by sunshine ... and I hope that you will be better soon! Lee creates outstanding music and versatilely masters many genres.

As the tears of a weeping fish is not seen in the creek
and the flight of a crane renders no footprints across the sky
thus the coming and going of the mystic is not known

My quest is the unspoken, the timeless tacit phrases, the inherent and the inherited.

I am collecting the eternal dust of passed days and the imprints of wayfarers, rambling through the age-old deserts of inner search.

Gathering the resounding tunes of the parched wadis, where the ancient creeks with their greenery are now latent, and the remote landscapes where the rivers were once filled with rejoicing swimmers.

Picking the archetypal sprouting nomadic tones like dormant blossoms beneath sand and rocks.

Seeking out the caves of the ascetic minimal, the simplistic modal, the vibrant and sober longing and ecstasy, still resonant with the songs of our spinal flute.

Pursuing the archaic value of every individual note, the microtonal fragments and the spaces of silence roaming in-between.

I'm an autodidact, having no formal education or knowledge of music theory.

Born in Sweden, I've spent most of my life on the road throughout the orient and India.
As a hindu monk I hitchhiked between Sweden and India - crossing the Orient by all sorts of vehicles ranging from dromedary carts to lorries - whenever I needed to travel during those eleven years.
Though mainly I was rambling around India.
Anyhow, the Orient has made some impressions in my mind.

Never had a camera back then.
Never wrote any music.
All my impressions just piled up.
Now I'm tapping a few humble drops out of the barrel...
