Thank Goodness for Piccadilly Records: their weekly mail-out saved the day. Watch out for the raucous opener from Lightfoils, but then you can ease back in your seat for Bdrmm's more poppy sounds and some dreamy electro pop from White Flowers (think Cocteau Twins meet Low). AT this point you should put on your (House/Electronic) dancing shoes for Shinichi Atobe and keep them on for Lee Kelly, the slightly quirky sounds of Erol Alkan, Rival Consoles, Gabriele Poso, Kalbata & Mayaan Nidam, before chilling out to the closing sounds of Ian Eccles-Smith. I'm a big admirer of White Flowers, and I do like the Erol Alkan and Ian Eccles-Smith tracks, but Lee Kelly's "Our Place in Time" gets this week's best track pick. BBE Music revisits Gabriele Poso’s well recieved 2018 solo album ‘Awakening’, with brand new remixes from Opolopo, Seven Davis Jr, DJ Crab and Clap! Clap!.

Reworking Poso’s sumptuous cover of the Roy Ayers classic ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’, Swedish powerhouse Opolopo, transforms the track into a disco/funk behemoth, complete with distinctive synth licks and a bass-line so suggestive that it borders on scandalous. The multi-talented Seven Davis Jr give ‘Mi Amigo’ an energetic treatment which ramps up the tempo and places Poso’s intricate and frenetic drumming at centre stage.

DJ Crab turns in a sensitive, smooth and somewhat mournful deep house version of ‘Words Never Work’; a suitable soundtrack for sunset reverie.
Italian producer (and Paul Simon collaborator) Clap! Clap! embraces Gabriele Poso’s afro-latin percussion to the max, transforming ‘The Night Falls’ into a delightful sub-bass driven workout for the dancers.

Finally, Seven Davis Jr returns with an alternate take on ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’, laying down a solid house groove, whilst staying true to Gabriele Poso’s sweet and subtle arrangement.

One of the more balearic, lower tempo picks on 3AM Spares, the new compilation from Andras and Instant Peterson on Efficient Space. Hazy bleeps, piano stabs, wistful trumpet and tasteful guitar sounds like a collaboration between Jose Padilla and Higher Intelligence Agency.
