The A side, Body Action has been causing quite a stir since it was included in Medlar's excellent Solid Steel mix last year. On the flip Aya Chan is a brand new cut but channels Medlar's love for classic 80's labels such as West End & Prelude.

@LozGoddard joins Team Bad in the third installment of the @Quartetseries with the B1 cut, “Home”. Stepping away from his usual sample-oriented and fairly lighthearted sound, he contributes a hypnotizing, synth-heavy stomper. This groovy number revolves around an arpeggiated acid lead with a soulful vocal that fits perfectly despite the contrast. A secondary arpeggiated synth line whirls and mesmerizes while aggressive snares and machine-like claps propel the groove. Some tension is relieved temporarily with warm chords and a top end string before resuming to deliver the punishment on the Good Guys.

Esa joins the Dekmantel ranks with his Aweh EP, which employs traditional Gogo vocals and modern kwaito beats while paying homage to Cape Town’s 1990s importer of early house music. ‘Rent-A-Disc’ on the B-side takes its name from the aforementioned music outlet, which was a key source of music discovery for Esa's father.

SB PREMIERE : Valentin Lafont - Low Tide [BONN]

Watching Me is the second Funky Espresso production on Smooth Operators. This house track has a Mediterranean vibe, crafted for summer dancefloors. Produced in Berlin, mixed and mastered in New York, remixed in Buenos Aires, it captures the groove from around the globe.

The track was born when Funky Espresso was jamming in their studio with Argentinian singer Priscilla Omil, looking to create a track that embodied the feeling of long lasting dances by the beach on summer nights. Paul Griesbach on his legendary sax and Paul Rowley on his guitar joined in and gave “Watching Me” an additional Balearic flair. The track was sent to Brooklyn-based producer Federico Chiesa (OORA), who fell in love with the vibes and decided to mix and master it adding some dancefloor presence to the soulful track.

Upon receiving the track back in Berlin, Funky Espresso sent it out and started receiving amazing feedback. Bill Brewster, London-based legendary DJ, was taken by the track and suggested that they reach out to Buenos Aires-based producer, bass player of 2020 Soundsystem, Fernando Pulichino to work on a remix. After a quick exchange, Fernando had the great idea to take the track in a more raw and funkier direction.

Together with the broken beat remix from Berlin-based Andrew Ashdown (Bridge Guy) and the acapella version celebrating Priscilla’s beautiful vocals, this release is the total package for summer playlists.

Funky Espresso is Marco Esposito and Aziz Hashmi. Their first release “Born for the Night” came out on Smooth Operators (SMOOP-002) on November 17, 2017.

The Austrian electronic music label fortunea records is back with a new 12“. Viennese label-member "Peletronic" is the key figure on this record.
His intention was to limit himself in the use of external samples, without loosing on his own signature style. He tried to achieve this by recording all essential parts by himself and by flipping those snippets later on in a sample-jam manner.

The opening track "Blyss" is an infectious deep house groover.
Shredded filtered vocals, a bouncing bassline and a sun rising pad are the main characters of this piece.

Salzburg’s globetrotter Demuja is also present on this release by contributing a remix. He did a classic NY style house music treatment of the title track. It peaks with stunning strings and stabs and has a lot of potential for being heard during this years open air season.
The B-side of Peletronic's EP also features the original track "Wrapped In Silk". A gently calm down tune for afterhours. The slow tempo supports the vibe of silky pads and dreamy vocals.

And to wrap it all up, this track has been remixed by a second well-known Austrian artist. LeSale brings the mood of the original perfectly over to the dancefloor and adds some acid flavor to it.

Overall a great selection of music for this summer, made up by all Austrian artists. Check it out!

Etur Usheo is back on Feedasoul Records with his latest work, 'groovedown'. This two-track EP is jam-packed with Soul and Funk. As the name suggests, 'Down in the Groove' presents a solid bassline inspired from Funk that overlaps a classic House 4/4 rhythm. 'Hip Shaking' on the other hand, introduces percussion elements in addition to the horn section and the soulful vocal samples that add up to a groover.
