have had writers block for a long time and haven't had my laptop I record on in a few weeks. here's a little super janky draft of a new thing, probably needs to be longer, another chorus bit?

My new song ‘Into Elysium’; a sad, dark indie pop song that I wrote, recorded and mixed all myself in two days. I used to instruments for this song; my guitar and my keyboard as well as a couple of drum beats. I am very happy with it. I am a huge fan of songs that end in a crescendo which this song does so keep listening till the end. I created a music video using vintage footage for this song which is available on YouTube, it is pretty sweet and nostalgic so I hope you can find the opportunity to give it a watch. As some of you know, this entire project is done by myself and I cannot monetise my content so please feel free to give a donation which is found in my links. What I like is very much a journey of self-discovery. Upon finally being free of an unhappy relationship, I came to the sudden realisation that I now had the opportunity to (for lack of a less cheesy term) “find myself”. Often, it's only after breaking out of a toxic relationship, that we realise where we were, and how we mould ourselves into comfortable spaces just to fit in and cope. What I Like takes us through the daunting yet exciting prospect of starting from square one and building a better, stronger and more genuine you.

What I Like

Our album, “Nobody Likes Me” is about just that—those intrusive thoughts of self-doubt that appear when you’re at your worst, and they tell you: nobody likes you. Most of these lyrics are coming from that irrational voice, when you question yourself if you’re stupid, undesirable, ugly. In the album we explore what happens to your relationships when you can’t keep those thoughts out. How it strains your love life, your friendships, your self-esteem and self-love.

“Hate Myself Around You” and “Nobody Likes Me” are the two songs leaning into those thoughts of self-doubt, while “911”, “Feeling Small”, and “I Know” splinter off from that, sort of like the aftermath or side effects. They explore themes of getting older, wondering if you never really fit in, realizing you didn’t and maybe starting to trust that voice. Then we conclude the album with “I’m Not Confused”, which actually started as an antidote to all of that, me really writing to myself all the things I needed to hear, remembering my power and embracing healing. The whole album is very depressing, but I think that song is a way out of all of that.
