In a time when we are all longing for some peaceful escapism, I am thrilled to share the latest Deep Mind Music mix from my friend Dream Software. A rumination on the passage of time and the evolution of earth, his mix is an instant a teleportation to the outer realms of our imagination. Soaked in sumptuous ambience, this uplifting mix calls to mind the utopic visions found in psychedelic daydreams. By the end of this one hour and 30 minute journey, I am left feeling much brighter and more hopeful than before 🍄⛅️🌍

Whenever we hang out, Dream Software and I end up having deep metaphysical chats about the nature of reality, consciousness,  our place in the universe, the magical potential and power of music, and all sorts of other fascinating topics. I feel a kindred connection with him in our relationship with music, our constant wonderment at the world we are living in, and our shared joy at pondering the big unsolvable questions about the inner workings of reality. Alongside being a deep and sensitive person and DJ, this year he has launched the Dream Software label, and he also crafts incredible visual worlds as AJAM, which I highly recommend checking out 💙

With this mix I’ve intended to sonically illustrate the passage of time; starting with the dawn of the universe, a cold desolate expanse of meaningful nothingness (or meaningless somethingness), scattered with stars and various chemical elements waiting their turn to be of use to the big metaphysical neural network that is everything. Then, on to the point when Earth was in the perfect balance to accommodate nature, life and evolution, and moving onto the thriving, organic eco-system we call Earth. Ending with a blissful, utopian vision that not only our planet, but our very existence thoroughly deserves.

Clear as spring water, the memory of Shoal's beautiful live set echoing through the Norwegian mountains, finally sharing the stage together at Monument (@monument-podcast) after meeting in Amsterdam several years ago. Those familiar with our dear friends at Harmony Rec (@harmony-rec) will be undoubtedly familiar with Kenny's impeccable body of work, and for the rest an eye-opening treat awaits. Here, Kenny gathers highlights from his recent live sets and newly recorded material, arranged and refined into a perfect contemplation of the crisp arboreal air, a vivid composition of body and sound entwined tightly beneath the earth. As we enter the midsummer-solstice season, I wanted to share this recording from a glorious sunny morning last year, now archived on Deep Mind Music ☀️

This is the set I played 8-10AM on Sunday at @comebyefestival in Wales for @umbilicalchords, in their cosy fuchsia~draped ambient dome.

Playing ambient in the early hours of a festival is always really special for me, as everyone’s minds are open and unwound, the gentle caress of nature is all around, and it feels the best backdrop for swirling into imaginal worlds 🌿

Hope you enjoy this wistful meander through tall breezy grasses, golden sunshine, and drifting clouds ~ a mix for daydreaming, nature-wandering, tea-drinking, sunbathing 🧡🌞🌾
