“Originally largely meant to be a tribute to Noize Creator's Ballet of the Chicks remix, attempting something of that broken rhythm and seeming random breaks/speedcore switch ups, it gradually took on a life of it's own and is now essentially a cacaphonic journey through varying extreme patterns with just a bell melody to hold onto. All that with a slightly fed up/ depressing tone conveyed through the vocal samples and the bell at times. Here we go, again... another pattern, another drop, another switch up, no 8 bars the same.........................

It started as a different track (Here We Go), which I abandoned due to a fairly horrible stab choice. 
I would ideally one day polish up that track (also 250 bpm carnage), and create another 2 mixes of this one (a long ambient mix (just bells, bass, Jethro Tull guitar, vocals, more storytelling) and a simpler structured, breakbeat hardcore/techno sorta thing - kinda like a lot of nasenbluten tracks, 4x4 then breaks then both (more straightforward old schoolish rave). Anyway....................”

Here is the recording of my set closing down the 10 Years of Varispeed party at the Clock Factory, Bristol, on 30th August 2024.

I had intended to release this with the full video, hence the delay putting it out, but time and tech have got away from me, and the video still isn’t ready. So, I thought I would just get the audio out there for your enjoyment.

Nearby the Blackbird (2025)

This work grew out of a curiosity and interest in going visiting and travelling sonically alongside blackbirds. It was created with a series of early morning field recordings made during a two-week stay in Graz, Austria in 2024.

The title draws inspiration from the documentary filmmaker and feminist theorist, Trinh Minh-ha’s concept of “speaking nearby,” which embraces a mode of relationality that listens and responds, not by speaking "about" the other, but by sounding "with" them in sonic proximity.
This work invites listeners into a reflective space, as it explores the complex (im)possibilities and (mis)understandings that emerge when sounding nearby another voice; in this case the voices of blackbirds.

To celebrate the release of the Telepathic Fish compilation, we have a special ‘O Is For Orange 2025’ Bleep Mix from DJ Food.

"A version of this mix first appeared in 2013 at a night to celebrate the release of Boards of Canada’s ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’ LP release. It then morphed into an Audio Video DJ set that I toured around the UK in 2019, playing the Bluedot festival to a packed tent that year. The idea was to thread Boards of Canada’s music with original sample sources, tracks they’d remixed, fan remixes or songs that fitted their sonic blueprint.

I recently resurrected and refined the mix for a gig booking, updating it into a new version. This happened to be a week before I was due to deliver my guest mix to Bleep and it seemed to be too good an opportunity to pass up. I abandoned the mix I was going to deliver and put down the first hour of the ‘Orange’ set including a video mix to go with it. I used stem splitting apps to deconstruct some of the tracks into unique versions before video mixing it all on turntables using Serato then editing the footage in Premiere." - @strictly

Assembly (2017)- “Assembly” opens with short gestures of sound entities and their silences. These individual “sound organisms” slowly accumulate and unite by growing boisterously into Noise music. In the piece, the individual characteristics of the two opposite worlds and their relationships are investigated.

Towards (2018): Sound-movement continuations and discontinuations are explored with samples taken from various string instruments coupled with generated electronics. This piece is an inquiry into the notion of “towardness”. Could there be a towardness in arrivals?

Based in London, Elif Yalvaç (née Hazal Elif Yalvaç) is a producer, composer and guitarist from North Western Turkey. Her journey in sound started as a young girl getting enthusiastic about electric guitar and retro game audio. She has had an over a decade long presence in music with international appearances, especially in the UK, Iceland, and Norway, through solo and collaborative works and performances, music critic reviews, and radio features.

Having worked with others (including the Brooklyn-based label NNA Tapes in 2020) and independently, Elif pushes the boundaries and believes in the value of organic connections in the music scene, defying the obstacles posed by algorithms or capital-oriented PR agencies and their stakeholders. Her latest solo album “Vection” was released in April 2024 by Amsterdam-based label Moving Furniture Records under "Eliane Tapes" series dedicated to pioneering electronic music composer Eliane Radigue. 

Elif’s upcoming solo work features elements of speedcore, noise, IDM, drone, and ambient music, drawing on her versatile approaches and background in music, from using a Game Boy or from guitar playing and singing in rock and metal contexts to sound design with her own software tools for ambient music. Both in studio and live settings, Elif uses a number of instruments including a handmade synth that she calls “Freakbox”, her standard and baritone guitars and pedals, as well as software such as VCV Rack and Ableton Live. She values minimal setup in performance and making the most of limitations, while always attempting to explore and learn tools and instruments to experiment with.

Elif collaborates with others extensively, including Norwegian ambient music artist Kristoffer Lislegaard, her avantgarde metal project Diaries of Destruction; her collaborations with her partner Jordan Muscatello (electric & double bass), her contemporary ambient project with pianist Philamelian, and Green Drift with Expert Sleepers, and primarily with Michael Bearpark. She has performed with a wide range of artists internationally including Eraldo Bernocchi, Colin Edwin, Jon Durant, and Jono Podmore.

Alongside her performance and production efforts, Elif curates and hosts “Talk to the Chip”, a podcast on pioneering electronic music on Resonance FM with Jono Podmore. She is the curator of the bi-monthly live electronics event series “Heart of Noise Cambridge” at Cambridge Junction, and "Electronics At Eight" series in Milton Court Concert Hall in London for Guildhall School. Elif holds an MA degree in Music (Sonic Arts) from Istanbul Technical University, with a thesis on the creative and aesthetic value of limitations in the context of Chip Music. She teaches electronic music composition and production in Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she is the pathway leader for Electronic Music in EPM.
