Dj Abuelita is a love letter to my mexican ancestors. It is a blend of sounds from ancient Mexico & celebratory sounds of the indigenous voices of Latin America & North America. Mixing world, ancient, & contemporary sounds to invoke a relatable modernness with deep roots into the earth and cultura. The intention is to take the listener on a journey where they feel wrapped in the warm blanket of the culture in this music through being immersed in expressive rhythms & sounds that invoke movement, dance, & meditative motion. Accompanying a collection of different songs carefully curated by myself, Dj Abuelita sets also feature some original music & poetry of my own (Jade Sanchez) woven in the mix for a more personal touch & extra dose of feminine energy. The intention for this project is for it to be offered in select ceremonial containers, dance spaces, & womens gatherings. I hope you enjoy this deep heart offering from my soul to yours. Sonic love travels in many dimensions and as it relates to music, Marques Wyatt is a seminal pioneer and is undoubtedly one of the most respected DJ's in the United States and a West Coast legend. In addition to producing some of LA's most legendary clubs/events, many associate him with "DEEP," the illustrious event that he nurtured in his hometown of Los Angeles - thriving and continuing today for well over 19 years. He is one of the few DJ's that have managed to cross pollinate audiences and merge at least two generations of music fans on his dance floors. Thus, he is in demand at clubs, as well as on the festival circuit alike, stateside and abroad. Marques' unerring, knowledgeable selections are sure to stir up some emotions and known to turn huge dance floors into intimate rituals.
