A very short thing that I did in FL Studio in just about 3 hours. I was getting kind of stuck, not knowing how to continue, so I just ended it and waited for some more inspiration. None came, and I was happy with it anyway, so here it is.
The dynamics aren't that good. Every note is practically the same dynamic. I'm trying to work on that, haven't quite figured it out yet, but it'll come eventually.

If you like it, well, good. That's good. Very good.
If you don!t like it, well... I can take it.

“Hanging Heavy” was inspired by The Weight After Water (TWAW) by Yan Qin Weng, a story very close to my heart. TWAW’s writing style involves the use of metaphor in three key ways: it’s used with great frequency as part of the text’s style, which bleeds into its function in the story as the very essence of their system of magic, in turn leading into the “curse” leveled against Aucis which becomes the henge for a main theme—the “weight” of Aucis’s guilt. This was very influential to how I wrote this song. I wanted to echo the use of metaphor in my own lyrics, so I played around with it more than I typically do. meet her / the wind and the waves

For those of you who've been around for a while, you might recognize this as the very first song I ever uploaded to SoundCloud. That version of the song now lives only on my hard drive. I deleted it due to poor recording quality. 

I've got a few songs like that, where the quality was poor so I took it down, or it's only ever been uploaded to Tumblr because it was my pre - SoundCloud days. I've decided that I want to go back and "remaster" some of those older songs because some of them, like this one, are still very special to me. 

Now about this song. This too shall pass. It's really such a weighted sentence. It's typically used as a calming phrase. 4 words that attempt to relieve your anxieties and remind you that the thing making you upset will soon pass. 

But I like to remember that it's also a warning. A reminder that the good things in life, the things you want, the things you desire, will just as quickly pass if you don't reach out and grab them when you get the chance. So carpe diem. Seize the day. Seize the moment. Live in the now. 

And don't forget that there are so many good things in life. We don't have to always live in the negative.
