Italian DJ/producer Gabriele Toma readies his deep and funky ‘Lit Bit EP’ for Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this June. 

With his releases on Sticker Music, Be On Records, and SK Recordings picking up support from big hitters Dennis Cruz, Michael Bibi, and Jamie Jones, the Puglian born Gabriele Toma prepares his debut for Jones’ Hottrax with the knockout house three-tracker ‘Lit Bit EP’. 

Across the EP, Toma works vocal snippets and detailed production flair with ease, exemplified on title cut ‘Lit Bit’ which brings squelching percussion around a funky bassline, peppered with breakdowns designed with giant sound systems and crowded rooms in mind. 

‘Back It’ sees robust drum work take centre stage, bringing sustained energy with its hard-hitting low end. ‘Go Stupid’ sees the Italian round things out with a cheeky banger, the mangled hip hop vocals dominating the track while a carefully considered arrangement and more, closing the release in refined style.

Terence Fixmer returns with a new EP on his label, Planete Rouge, following his critically acclaimed album on Novamute/Mute.

Electronic music producer and DJ Greg Sanders AKA Distance returns with his third long player ‘Dynamis’, set for release through Tectonic Recordings on 21st October. 

Alongside recording ‘Dynamis’ over the past four years, Distance has been writing and producing for other artists including Riz MC, Jeb Loy Nichols and Jon More of Coldcut. Working with these artists helped open his mind to other styles of music and led to him veering away from his 140bpm roots. The productions of A$AP Ferg, Drake, Schoolboy Q and earlier Arca and FKA Twigs were a big influence, alongside the soundtracks of Hans Zimmer and Cliff Martinez. 

“I get inspiration from everywhere and deliberately try to ignore what is happening in the scene I'm most involved in. ‘Dynamis’ is influenced a lot by film scores, I have geeked out massively to create great dynamics in all of the tracks, sounds are heavily automated and processed to really give the music life.”

Building on the remix project of Null + Void’s (@nullandvoidmusic) ‘Where I Wait’, the third part of the project invites the one and only Alva Noto (@alvanoto) to provide his magic to Kurt Uenala’s standout track from last year’s album.

Carsten Nicolai needs little introduction, but it is fair to say that his Alva Noto project has collapsed the boundaries between techno, noise and soundtracks over his long and illustrious career.

Here he dives into ‘Where I Wait’ with precision tools, producing a thick, atmospheric electro rhythmic bed for Dave Gahan’s iconic vocals. The track finds a deep groove and sticks to it - the analog richness of the synth pulses a result of his unending quest for sonic brilliance.

The Alva Noto remodel dub strips away much of the vocals, but leaves fragments in place, dubbed out and sparse.

Also included on this release is the Aristókrasía Version in collaboration with Iceland’s Úlfur Eldjárn (@ulfureldjarn) - previously surfaced towards the end of last year following the Cryosleep album, but here given a new lease of life in all its rich, neoclassical grandeur. Sweeping strings replace the electro pulses, and provide a totally new perspective on the track.

ALPHABET invites the spectator to immerse themselves in the multiple relationships that, through language and its digital translations, maintain words and things.

After many collaborations this new record by Anne-James Chaton and Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto speaks a new language, generated by the fusion of objective poetry and minimal music. From the dialogue of the graph and the glitch a poetics of the code is born from which arises a representation of the contemporary world.
