My Friend Dario is back on his home label Hell Yeah with a new EP that continues his journey through Balearic beats. Sonica Jonica is an homage to the Mar Jonio coast on the Ionian sea and will appeal to fans of his NuNorthern Soul release last year.

The title track opens up with looping synths rising up from below in dramatic fashion. They're filled with tension as the chugging drums and fat bass roll on and after a break in the heaviness, the dark disco groove returns again. 'Marittimo' then cuts loose on jazzy chords with tumbling toms, percussion, shakers and marimbas all bringing a sunny open-air sound.
'Old But Gold' is perfect dance floor disco bliss with its leggy drums and splashy hits run through with curious and colourful synth sounds. Last of all, 'Acid Mosquito In Summer Night' mixes up 60s psyche, dark funk, freaky disco and expect percussion into an ever-evolving workout that sounds like little else.

With this first fresh EP, My Friend Dario has served up some perfect grooves for summer.

Oslo's Sommerfeldt returns to home label badabing diskos with another trio of terrific disco,
house and dub cuts.
Sommerfeldt has been cooking up his own fresh Scandi-sounds for more than 10 years. He has landed
on this label as a solo artist but also with the likes of Sigmund Floyd, while also releasing on labels
including Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp, Beatservice and Paper Recordings. He has remixed artists such as
Amp Fiddler and is a mainstay of the club scene in Oslo who always brings the party.
He opens up this EP with the superb 'Tell Me What To Do' featuring Oslo's Toshybot, an artist with
several aliases who is a member of collectives such as Legs 11. Their track has a warm, wavy bassline
and balmy cosmic pads up top while a muttered vocal adds sensuous words to the deep and steamy
groove. It's an intimate atmosphere that also comes as a dub with more organic percussion and extra
synth sparkle.
Sommerfeldt's solo cut 'Horseriding on the Beach at Sunset' is then an excellent eight-minute excursion
with subtle melodies rippling out into the sky as another deep but dynamic groove rolls below. Chord
vamps build the tension and add to the sense of journey as this late-night charmer carries you away to the stars.

After his first release on Why People War Compilation in March 2022, Montessori is back on the Lithuania-based label Why People Dance with his brand new EP "Smelling a New Flavor." Leftfield-leaning acid, techno, and indie dance mixed as the futuristic and reborn sound of a progressive vibe. Label A&R Jaroška invites Athens' very best, Anatolian Weapons, to make two remixes and complete the whole collection of new and dancefloor-ready flavors.

Montessori is Alfredo Cardenas' project inspired by alternative and post-rock energy, new wave & post-modern techno vibe, and production techniques. Add gnarly Mexican Suburb life where artists seek to find meaning in the arts to this unique mixture and share this vision with the rest of the world.

Ralph Lawson and his 2020 Vision Recordings have created a vibrant trail of releases, making it one of the most loved and respected imprints in the industry. Here the landmark label continues its quest to present quality leftfield electronica to the dance world with LA based band ASHRR, who mark their debut on 20/20 in fine style, recruiting original dub pioneer Scientist into the studio to create a series of Live Dubs of ‘Fizzy’.

ASHRR was born in 2018 amidst the vibrant musical landscape of Los Angeles and is made up of Ethan Allen, Josh Charles, Steven Davis. Masterfully combining vocal harmonies that illuminate the euphoria of those hazy 70s grooves. Space disco, post-punk, electronica with touches of alternative soul. Think Roxy Music jamming with ESG on a warm sunny Sunday in Central Park, and you’ve got the vibe.

Hopeton Brown aka Scientist has been at the forefront of the dub reggae scene since being an integral engineer at the legendary Tubby’s Studio owned by King Tubby in Kingston, Jamaica way back in the ‘70s. Scientist went on to produce countless reggae hits at the equally renowned Channel One for artists including Johnny Clarke. Linval Thompson and Barrington Levy.

Two versions of the ‘Scientist Fizzy Dub’ grace the record with edits courtesy of Ralph Lawson and ASHRR themselves. On the flip, Felix Dickinson returns on disco dub duties with a previously unreleased extended version of ‘Fizzy’ following the release of the original remix on Crazy P Curate Vol. One that caused a whole heap of damage at festivals like Love International last summer.

The extended version is an epic 10-minute disco excursion that conjures up visions of ESG live at Paradise Garage. ASHRR also offer up a brand-new creation made for the dance floor and DJs in the form of their 'ASHRR Soundsystem Mix’ which serves as an exclusive treat on the digital package.

Beyond The Struttosphere is a sonic collaboration between two London-based DJs combining their considerable musical production experience with an insatiable passion for cosmic chugging dark disco.

The cosmonauts embark on their most ambitious journey yet with the release of ‘Odyssey-10’ on Emerald & Doreen records. True to its name, the lead track evokes an epic space voyage propelled by driving arpeggiators, chunky layered percussion, high-octane guitar hits and the signature BTS chug bassline. 

The tune progresses into a tectonic breakdown heightened by
spacey Juno chords before launching into a dynamite crescendo that burns contrails through the atmosphere. 

Remixes are provided by two bastions of the scene: Mexican dark wave star
Vongold introduces lustful celestial vocals into the mix, dialling down the tempo, and repurposing the track into a post-punk acid chugger that takes no prisoners. French dark disco connoisseur Badknife applies his masterful touch with a second remix, cranking up the throb and deploying interstellar synth arrangements that will have you reaching for your seatbelt.

The duo venture into uncharted territory with ‘Satellite Cities’, a collaboration with cosmic queen Miss Zagato. Undoubtedly their funkiest production to date, this galactic chugger is a hypnotic blend of funky guitar plucks, electrifying stabs and groovy riffs, underpinned by Miss Zagato’s intoxicating lyrics that transport you to the moon in a hypersonic X-15. Building in momentum and complexity, the track climaxes with a mesmerising vocal chorus, elevated by cosmic synth melodies and a resonating mid-range bass that will echo for aeons to come. 

The original is backed by a sublime remix from Spanish electronic virtuoso, Ivan Fabra, whose take re-imagines the track as a pulsating Balearic dancefloor anthem loaded with powerful drums and ethereal pads that melt into the sunset.

The EP concludes with ‘Storming Heaven’, a sonically charged acid trip that adventures through the cosmos, guided by a weighty chugging bass, a psychedelic 303 line, tripped out guitar chords and an array of cosmic FX. The tune traverses two mystical breakdowns before ascending into stratospheric planes with a euphoric synth sequence and a staggering guitar solo courtesy of long-time BTS collaborator Stannard Procedure. Strap in!

Kohib is back in Beatservice action, joining forces with vocalist Karoline Stensland on the delightfully deviant 'Take One'.

Since releasing the mesmerising 'Today's Tales Of Tomorrow' last year, Øivind Sjøvoll took a short break from his Kohib project to deliver some heavy dancefloor textures under his Ransel alter ego. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long for Kohib's return, and he picks up where he left off with a typically refined slice of subterranean immersion.

Fans of Sjøvoll's back catalogue will know to expect the unexpected with each evolving release, and, true to form, the producer, DJ and party promoter keeps audiences on their collective toes with a distinctly floor-focused turn.

'Take One' sees crunching house drums power aberrant bass and detuned synth lead as brooding acid and tension-building strings add to the nocturnal mood. Karoline Stensland pitches in with a stirring vocal performance, flitting between snarling spoken word to searing soul as verse transitions into chorus.

Driving, elegantly sinister and steeped in soul, this is certified dancefloor fire from Kohib.

Kicking 2024 off with an incredible edit on our 'X-PRESSINGS’ edit series by London-based sonic duo Beyond The Struttosphere. They're currently dominating, showcasing their considerable musical production expertise and unwavering passion for cosmic, chugging dark disco.

Their debut EP released on Gouranga Music found much acclaim among Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s A Love From Outer Space online fraternity, also appearing on Juan Mclean’s (DFA Records) contribution to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space mix series.
Propelled to newfound heights, the cosmic duo have since released a number of highly lauded EPs, remixes and edits on esteemed labels and now of-course on our ‘X-PRESSINGS’ edit series.

Beyond The Struttosphere’s music has made sonic reverberations around the globe and has been remixed by notable legends of the scene including; Rebolledo, Rigopolar, Vongold, Badknife and Mufti to name a few. The cosmic cowboys have been deep in the studio recently, working on new material, with live guitar now a mainstay of their productions. Their trademark sound combines resonant chugging basslines with reverbed guitar riffs, syncopated arpeggiators, 80s-inspired synths, vintage vocal samples, Italo drum fills and psychedelic 303 sequences.

 ́Meadows ́ is Sommerfeldt and Sigmund Floyds second collaboration on  ́Badabing Diskos ́, a hypnotizing house track that, allthough inspired by closeness to nature, securely fronts their right of disposal in urban territory.

Sommerfeldt has long been a solid player within the Oslo underground circuit. He previously released as  ́Sommerstad ́ and  ́De Fantastiske To ́ on acclaimed labels such as Paper Recordings and Full Pupp and has remixed everyone from Way Out West to late legend Amp Fiddler.

The recognizable vocals of Sigmund Floyd comes from his many album releases with legendary dub disco orchestra  ́Palace of Pleasure ́ and his more recent housepop band Legz11.

Sommerfeldt´s second solo EP on badabing still has the minimalistic deep house feel, but with a heavier and more bouncy groove that will shake up any club. A deep rumbling house cut with uplifting repetative synth chords, underlaying soft basslines and most convincing vocal hooks.

`Maedows ́ was written during the last days of summer, surrounded by breathtaking scenery in the Norwegian highlands. «Life can sometimes push you off edge and inside the triangle of fear, love and hate. This track is running away from it all and into the Meadows as fast as your legs can carry you. Because occationally, the grass is actually greener.»

 ́Meadows ́ is the perfect reminder that summer is getting closer.

Beatservice Records offer up something rather special this time out, with Flash Atkins arriving on the label with no less than three remixes of Third Attempt's 'Keep Your Head Up'.

Producer Flash Atkins should need little in the way of introduction, the Manchester-based artist having served up countless dancefloor moments over the years - most often on the legendary Paper Recordings. He's known for crafting glittering, disco-centric sounds, and has worked with the likes of Kathy Diamond, Leilani, George Demure, and Danielle Moore among others.

Here, he delivers typically refined versions of 'Keep Your Head Up' from label regular, Third Attempt, a track lifted from last year's brilliant 'Momentary Bliss' album. The main remix toughens up the drums to add a little more thrust to the dreamy instrumentation, with spacey overdubs and staccato synths adding a gently psychedelic quality to the memorable strings and piano licks of the original.

The 'Dub' version strips back the orchestration to allow the rhythm to take centre stage as a distorted riff carries the groove across a floor-focused arrangement - a hypnotic motif that carries through to the gorgeously atmospheric 'Reprise' mix, where the drums give way to the celestial harmonics and evocative vocal textures.

Three magnificent interpretations, each of which is primed to enhance various shades of musical mood - from the main room to the back room and far, far beyond.

Trym Søvdsnes´ excellent track ´Goodboy Acid´ pushes that classic norwegian west coast hybrid of house and disco. Rumbling dubby percussion with psychedelic vocal offerings. Norwegian label LEK releases a compilation of "smooth" electronic productions. 

"During summer of 2023 we got the idea to unite norwegian and georgian producers to a compilation for the further enhancing of our nations bond. Rather than just asking for tracks, we sent out an invitation commisioning everyone involved to make a smooth track. As per usual on LEK, there were no limitations in terms of genre, but the track had to be somewhat relevant to the floor.

The total variety of different expressions far exceeded our expectations, and we are proud to present this compilation ranging all the way from deep dubby downtempo, party house, electro in many forms, and multi-crossovers."
