Deemphasis is a french producer specializing in electro, acid and vocoder.
Originally from northern france, deemphasis was influenced in the late 80s by german, english, detroit and belgian techno sounds. in the 90s, he is very involved in the "demoscene" and uses "sound-tracker" to make music. Nowadays, he always uses the same approach.
it was at this time that he settled in clermont-ferrand, in the early 2000s, he began to do some concerts and he turned gradually to electro.

In 2010, deemphasis released its first 12 "ep" synthetic cells "on the umwelt label, newflesh records. Then, several ep and his famous album "mechanical beats" on ukonx recordings.

In this ep, deemphasis explores some of the feelings one can encounter in a post-apocalyptic world.
The opening title "my empire" is clearly oriented towards the dance floor and features a surviving robotic voice in a hostile environment.
An acid base consolidates the melancholy atmosphere.
The remix of "my empire" by the french producer "the observer" is a journey with some hypnotizing effects, deep experience and ongoing melodies take will take you to a different dimension, sounds rythmic, mysterious and variable... this remix are like a poetical description of some non-human race or nature of another dimension....

The b side begins with the track "obsession", presenting a long journey in the darkness. The mechanical rhythm sounds like a dehumanized factory fighting against continuous pressure.
The ep ends with a touch of hope, looking for a « rebirth », contemplating the galaxy full of stars.

TL Premiere : Deemphasis - Obsession [Radio Mars]

The first ABCD’s digital label release is entirely dedicated to the phenomenon of Izhevsk electronic music. It wholly - is an experiment where contemporary musicians reinterpret the heritage of Izhevsk perestroika era pioneers.
In the early '90s no matter what - a shoegaze-bands, playing their guitars with screwdrivers or an extraordinary proto-tryp-hop music - all bar none become a musical discovery, extolling the unknown factory town as the capital of electronic music.
"New Day of the Week", performed by ‘Intourist’, sounds as if it was recored by Eugene Gorbunov himself, instead of pioneers of the Russian shoegaze ‘Velvet And Velvet Dolls’ in '92.
Ufa resident Molodoy Chelovek, turns ‘Samchov Dronda’s” dark ambient "Vogel" into a techno anthem for empty factories, where now the roar of machines switches to the rhythms of drums.
‘Rites Of Passage’ - a solo project of an improvisation orchestra ‘Electric Dog’ member, comprehends the original "I, you, my reptile" by ‘Beautiful Coming’ as a gloomy echo of an industrial city.
And the young producers Caprithy and Kstcn's dou, tightly pours acid inwards ‘Virgo Intacta’ experemental electronics.

PREMIERE #819 | NNNN - Algae [Tapes From Future] 2020

3rd and last show for @noodsradio residency! Thanks for having me send waves thru Bristol’s beloved radio station!
For this one I wanted to have a live feel. This is the opening extract from my last show at ohm in Berlin for kookoo with my bestie Marylou @oiseaudanseur . There’s fuck ups in there too, it’s actually not my best mix sorry :s , there’s volume changes cus the sound engineers kept putting the volume down when it was over the limit, I uploaded “wrong” (what’s wrong anyways?) track ‘cus someone’s coming at you to say “hi!!!”, and that’s why it’s as it is. Hopefully will warm you up and challenge you a bit.

Solvent’s “RDJCS5ep” was originally released in 2011 in an edition of 300 copies, and quickly sold out. The EP was made entirely with a very special Yamaha CS-5 synthesizer, owed by David Borean, who now co-runs Suction Records alongside Solvent. This CS-5 was previously owned by Richard D. James and has the liner notes to Aphex Twin’s seminal “Selected Ambient Works Volume II” hand-etched on the bottom of it. Those etchings were photographed and used for SAWII’s artwork.

Fast forward to 2020, and David has decided to sell the Yamaha CS-5 - it’s currently up for auction on Ebay. We decided to use the opportunity to take some new photos, and to create a special 1-off repress of Solvent’s “RDJCS5-ep” to mark the occasion. Our 2020 repress is strictly limited to 100 copies, and comes in an all-new full-colour, reverse board jacket, along with two Yamaha CS-5 postcards. Like the original, our 12” repress contains an additional noise/drone piece at the end of side B. Entitled "Sandpaper”, this cut is individually hand-etched by Solvent, directly cut into the vinyl, for a one-of-a-kind cut/click/loop experience. Here’s what we wrote about the EP in 2011:

Occasionally one reads about some musical instrument with an illustrious past, such as Jimi Hendrix's guitar or John Lennon's piano, selling for exorbitant amounts of money at auction.  And typically, that's the last of it; the instrument disappears into some rich collector's display case, never to be heard from again.  Here then, is a bit of a different story. In April 2006, a Yamaha CS-5 monosynth once owned by Richard D. James (Aphex Twin), with the actual liner notes for his landmark "Selected Ambient Works Volume II" etched into the bottom, was sold at VEMIA auction.  The winning bidder was in fact a friend of Solvent’s, and the synth ended up residing not in a display case, but in Solvent's studio on generous long-term loan.

"RDJCS5ep” - a new 4-track 12-inch / digital EP by Solvent - is the result.  This is suction022.  Each and every sound on this record came from RDJ's old CS-5, painstakingly programmed and multi-tracked by Solvent over the course of several months. The limited capabilities and sound palette of this humble little synth provided quite a challenge but ultimately the results are not merely an exercise in technical synth-nerdery; "RDJCS5ep” speaks more of Solvent's musical kinship to thee Analord. The opening track "Curtains" bears similarity to early Rephlex signing Bochum Welt, while "Radiator," "Mould" and "Tassels" each contain hallmarks of the classic AFX sound.  At the same time, each track also sounds distinctly and unmistakably 'Solvent’.
