The ghostly ethereal band Pindrops, veiled with influences from the darker sides of post-punk and shoegaze, met 2019 with a forceful release titled Reflections on the German label Young & Cold Records. Lined with energetic rhythms and devious guitar riffs while still maintaining a palpably cold and mysterious character, the EP has brought the Vilnius trio into the spotlight as they gain momentum both in the local underground and in larger stages, supporting their biggest influences such as The Soft Moon.

"Reflections Remixes" is an endeavor to link the darkness of both post-punk and electronic music. In the Lithuanian underground scene, themes of melancholy and contemplation can be felt all throughout, regardless of whether the music is played by guitar or by a DJ in a club. This 8 track remix compilation was born out of eight local producers reimagining the music of Pindrops through their unique lenses of techno, EBM, industrial and ambient, translating the unifying factors into a more harsh, more euphoric, or a more club-based aesthetic. Varied in styles, these remixes not only reflect the emerging producers, but also serve as a reflection of our scene as a whole.
Lithuanian underground bastion Ghia is set to release "Reflections Remixes" on cassette and digitally on May 9th, first offering the energetic rendition of Geist by Ement, the burgeouning DJ and producer from Kaunas, to whypeopledance.

Back to the future, and enigmatic new producer Fall Forward delivers a smooth, rave tinted rework that is guaranteed to thrill the strobe-lit, sweat-drenched club crowd that inspired the original LP. An additional dub of the remix places the focus squarely on it’s clean, irresistible acid bassline.

Brazilian-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer Terr makes her Phantasy debut with the sensational single, ‘Tale of Devotion’.

Arguably one of the catchiest moments in Phantasy’s musical history, Terr delivers a wide-eyed vision of sincere synth pop pleasure, backed by a sublime Prins Thomas Diskomiks.

Undoubtedly indebted to the visionary modulations of Giorgio Moroder, Phil Oakey and Wendy Carlos, ‘Tale of Devotion’ flawlessly captures the romance, ecstasy and opportunity throbbing at the heart of dancefloors for the past fifty years. No mere nostalgia trip, Terr delivers a soaring vocal performance that proves to be the warm, ambiguous heart of the track, driven by bubbling, cosmic electronics and flashes of orchestral melodrama.

Prins Thomas establishes a contrasting groove for the latest in his beloved legacy of ‘Discomiks’ reworks. Our next mix series contributor needs little introduction. A third of Hessle Audio, alongside Ben UFO and Pearson Sound, Pangaea has been an essential fixture of the electronic music scene for over a decade. Whether through releases on Hessle’s influential imprint, or as a distinctive and celebrated DJ in his own right - Pangaea is undoubtedly a huge player in shaping the characteristic UK club sound.

Similarly as influential a character at Dimensions, Pangaea has appeared at every single festival since our inception in 2012. Over the years, Hessle’s presence has grown to be a crucial part of the Dimensions experience -  through their boat parties to memorable Moat takeovers. Melbourne-based electronic enigma ATALEIN is back with a softer pastel-tinged edge to her usual hardened industrial electronica with her new single “Mirror”. The single comes after a period of time living in Berlin where she was able to work on her craft and find a new way to express herself. 

With her new single, ATALEIN (Laura Semple) is exploring a lighter, brighter side of her musical talents. After escaping to Berlin last year for a period of travel and musical exploration where she bathed in the debauchery of the German capital by night and spent her days exploring its colourful cultural offerings where she learnt to finesse her style and skills as an artist.

‘S.L.F. Versions’ – a set of cutting-edge radical reworks from Aïsha Devi’s widely-praised EP ‘S.L.F.’

Hotly-tipped Chinese scene stalwart 33EMYBW delivers a thunderous percussion-heavy take on ‘Two Serpents’, and rising Indonesian duo Gabber Modus Operandi overhaul ‘Uupar Theory’ with pummelling kick drums encircling frenzied, swirling synths.

Nordic maverick Varg adds jungle breaks and pitched-down crunch to Devi’s pitched-up ethereal voice, whilst lauded JA collective Equiknoxx Music‘s vibey avant-dancehall version gives shout-outs to Devi from vocalists Gavsborg and Shanique Marie.

In addition to acclaim gained for ’S.L.F.’, over the summer Devi toured extensively, performing at some of the world’s most prestigious and forward-thinking events. At Dark Mofo x Atonal in Hobart, Australia she premiered her new AV show ‘∞E=TRv’ – an innovative collaboration with visual artist MFO using light in space and reflective surfaces. 

Centred around Devi’s transcendence/continuum energy formula and inspired by Planck’s Constant in physics, these special shows have wowed and inspired, as have AV events staged with Emile Barret, and Devi’s solo shows - where audio takes centre stage.
