Growing up in a remote village in the heart of Russia, Inga listened intensely to early Bunker Records, Cybernetic Broadcasting System (now intergalactic.fm), Trax, and UR recordings which have set the scene for her seductive sound: a mix of blistering atmospheres and dark emotions, flirting with a wide range of genres like Industrial Techno, EBM, New Wave and Disco. This young talent is gaining a fast-growing reputation from Den Haag to Berlin, from Cologne to Tel Aviv, and completing a circle of influence as a desired guest on Intergalactic.fm. Not only a great DJ, Inga is also a truly restless producer, constantly recording lunatic jams and wild rhythms in a world of no musical compromises. Expect great things to come this year when she starts releasing and opens your ears. Currently under the wing of the Bunker Records team. The music she serves up comes from a place of love and knowledge in equal measures – no cheap thrills, just pure musical joy.

Absolutely menacing acid from Bordeaux’s Djedjotronic in a new two track EP "RANDJO," joined by labelmate Cardopusher and Defekt. Following his haunting “Strapon” EP earlier this year, "RANDJO" proves it wasn’t an isolated excursion into darkness- in fact this could be Djedjo at his darkest. Summer is over, the temperature is dropping, the nights are getting longer, and it might damn well be believable that its all this release’s fault.
Most are unaware that Al Jourgensen of Ministry, in their pre-guitar days, worked in the same studio as many of Chicago’s early house greats- that studio was TRAX- and you can almost imagine them collaborating when listening to Phuture “Acid Tracks” or Rude Boy Farley Keith’s “Give Yourself to Me.” Djedjo x Cardopusher's "RANDJO" comes from this imaginary (or not?) pairing, with a spoken word house-is-a-feeling type sample echoing over some proper EBM analogue muscle and hate. Machine gun reverberated kick drums and crushed swooshes cement the industrial influence, pun intended, resulting in a track sure to top playlists of timeless dark acid. Djedjo X Defekt's "LANCE" continues this house-industrial exploration, but this time with a relentless single note arpeggiator that morphs and twists throughout the track, hypnotizing the dance floor, using it’s redundancy to build tension until it peaks with delirious detuning synths and electro pattern drums. Jorgensen and the Chicago house guys perhaps never did end up working together, but Djedjotronic, Cardopusher, and Defekt did-- with very worthy results.

Futureboogie​ open their 2017 account with a new release from ​Lizards​, the Newcastle based duo otherwise known as Lee Forster​ and ​James Hadfield​. After appearances on labels like Leng Records, Join Our Club and ​Not An Animal Records​, Lizards strut their stuff across two original tracks, whilst man of the moment ​Lord Of the Isles​ weighs in with a superb remix. The percussion driven house of ​“Tzatziki”​ kicks of the release, wrapped in warm and inviting pads and piano riffs. Shades of old school Chicago house meet sun-kissed Balearic vibes on this early morning riser, as the heavyweight bass sounds curl around the raw drum programming and illuminating keys sprinkle over the production. On ​“Aloof”​, the tempo is taken down somewhat, as a bass line wanders over a steady kick and otherworldly ambient sounds and hushed vocal clips lazily glide over the 4/4 arrangement. As the track unfurls, more melodic and percussive elements come into play, blossoming into a something quite epic and unique. With a slew of releases for quality imprints like ​Permanent Vacation​, ​Firecracker​, ​Mule​ ​Musiq​ and ​ESP​ ​Institute​, Neil​ ​McDonald​, ​AKA​ ​Lord​ ​Of​ ​The​ ​Isles​, serves up a deliciously chugging version of “Aloof”. Gurgling bass and marching handclaps are dowsed in dramatic synth sweeps and glacial tones, as the good Lord takes us on a monumental ride.

Marc Houle will kick off 2017 with the launch of a new three-part album series on his own Items & Things label. An autobiographical studio project, the three albums cross several moods and styles, showing the different sides of Marc Houle, both as a person and as an artist. 

In the first album of the trilogy, entitled Sinister Mind, the Canadian artist serves up nine storytelling tracks that once again stand as a fine testament to his studio skills. This most evocative long player starts off with ‘Don’t Think of Me’, a paranoid cut with chattery claps, brooding bass and foreboding vocals that is brilliantly unsettling. 
The title cut then settles into a mid-tempo techno groove as synths thunder in the background. It is a sparse and moody affair that speaks of desolate urban landscapes. From there, ‘Maskatron’ builds the pressure with gurgling bass, alien percussive sounds and more unsettled grooves before ‘Loafers’ gets trippy with some modulating synths that burrow deep into your brain, and ‘Failure’ resets the mood with a super slow motion dark wave synth cut that has echoing vocals drifting off to the distance. 
The second half of the album marries ‘Bassorrific’'s mechanical grooves and robotic melodies with the heavy and doom laden atmospheres of ‘Dark Tom.’ ‘Conbular’ then comes over all spooky with tumbling drums and bleeping synths popping and spitting in loose limbed fashion. 
Last of all, 'Paligama' gets busy and goes directly for the dance floor, with bubbling rhythms, rubbery drums and dry hits. 

This is an album that marries sci-fi imagery with derelict metropolitan soundscapes. It is evocative and escapist and is a fantastic way to start off this trilogy.

PREMIERE : Trudge - When The Rain

La Belle Records strike again with a fantastic new EP from Golden Bug featuring a superb remix from artist of the moment Moscoman. This is a second sizzling single from the artist’s still standout V.I.C.T.O.R. album from last October.
The EP is divided into two parts: ‘Krokodil' (which comes with its own fantastically fresh and brilliantly bizarre video) and ‘Amazonia’ are from Golden Bug’s VI.C.T.O.R album late in 2016, and ‘Gomina!’, ‘Visage’ and ‘Division’ are brand new tracks made in his studio in Barcelona in recent months. ‘Krokodil' opens the EP and is a prickly, synapse firing disco-pop tune with capped up vocals, slithering synths and colourful stabs that really pop. The excellent ‘Gomina!’ is another electrifying mash up of pixelated synths, chugging drums, post-punk vocals and whirring analogue machine sounds that never sit still for a moment.

Australian producer, singer, and songwriter cln released "Breathe" at the end of April here on NEST, offering an honest look into the emotional and melodic depth of his creativity. Written, produced, and sung by cln, the record draws comparisons to the rawness and sentiment of multifaceted musicians like James Blake with its breathy vocals and sleepy harmonies, leading Billboard to declare that "cln's 'Breathe' stops you in your tracks with quiet beauty."

Three months later, "Breathe" has been given the remix treatment by three very different artists: Point Point member and Record Record co-founder DEVOTED (pka Devoted to God), the experimental, no rules duo X&G, and über-talented Kentucky-based house & disco producer Ellie Herring.

Scuba is the production and DJ alias of Paul Rose, the curator of Hotflush Recordings, a label, which having released some of the most important tracks of the formative period of dubstep, has grown into a leading player in the wider world of electronic music. A celebrated and influential DJ, Scuba was voted #25 in Resident Advisor’s 2011 poll of the world’s Top 100 DJs and has also been nominated for several categories in DJ Magazine’s Best of British 2011 Awards.

Earlier this year Scuba released his ‘Adrenalin’ EP, picking up radio plays from Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank as well as Mistajam, illustrating how his sound has mutated into previously unexplored areas. Alongside ‘Adrenalin, Scuba also released his addition to K7!’s DJ-KICKS series which has made notable appearances on several "Best of 2011" lists.

On the 27th February, Scuba will release his third album through Hotflush. Entitled ‘Personality’ and featuring 11 brand new tracks, it takes in a wealth of genres across contemporary dance music, proving once again Scuba’s place at the cutting edge of the electronic music scene. Preceding his LP will be ‘The Hope’; pushing on from the tense atmospherics of previous Scuba material, the single fizzes with claustrophobic bass pressure and menacing narration. Backed by an exclusive non-album cut 'Flash Addict', ‘The Hope’ will proceed the album on the 6th February.

Originally from London, Scuba relocated to Berlin in 2007, and released his debut album, 'A Mutual Antipathy' in 2008. The stylistic synergy of the album cemented his position as one of the most forward-thinking producers to emerge from the London bass scene. In the same year, Scuba founded the massively successful SUB:STANCE night at the legendary Berlin club Berghain. SUB:STANCE has since launched in New York with a look to expanding further in 2012.

Scuba’s second album, 'Triangulation', was released on Hotflush in early 2010, joining the likes of Mount Kimbie, Sepalcure, Joy Orbison, Untold, Sigha and George Fitzgerald on its enviable roster.

With ‘Personality’ due for imminent release and plans for a live show in the works, Paul Rose's constantly developing world seems set to keep on turning in 2012.
