We interrupt our techno streak for a short update on Aebeloe's new collection of rare and exceptional music to both listen, sway and vibe to. "Tilo" is somewhat of a mini­-album clocking in at 6 tracks that are bound to please home listeners and classy DJs alike. If this is your first encounter with his one-of-a-kind sound, you're in for a treat.

Natal Zaks has been a strong pillar in the foundation of Origami Sound since the very beginning; his music took many various forms, from the duo Averos to his latest EP under the Escar guise, but all of them were merely avatars of his truest form, Aebeloe. This is his third EP under this alias and his first appearance on Origami Sound following his releases on our Farver imprint.

Since the music itself is impossible to describe and shows many facets and passions of this genius composer, let's just say Tilo is a magnificent piece of uplifting electronic music that proves once again that Aebeloe really is in a class of his own.

Amsterdam's cult producer and DJ Steven van Hulle a.k.a. Awanto 3 likes his samples vibrant, his drums wobbly and his synths sweaty as a summer breeze. The MPC wizard returns to Dekmantel delivering a new club cut bursting with wonderful weirdness and a very special surprise. 

For some of you 'Pregnant' may sound familiar. Due to popular demand, we have decided to reissue this 12:42 stomper that was part of Dekmantel's Anniversary Series back in 2012. Don't be a fool and pay silly Discogs prices. We've fully remastered the 2012 version, so make sure you get this baby second time around. 'Pregnant' continuously builds around a vocal that keeps you locked in, while the carefully constructed synth progressions showcase van Hulle’s keen ear for melody. Fire on the floor guaranteed.

On the flip, van Hulle serves-up a fresh cut. 'Star Butchers' is a jazzy deep house gem, that's most likely to end up in the bag of people who admired 'Pregnant'. The bonus 'Darling Edit' of 'Star Butchers', is on the deep and dramatic side of things, and easily equally as good. The track is a co-production between Awanto 3 and the mysterious but talented Darling on keys.

After the success of last year’s multi-edition album release ‘F O R M A T’ via The Vinyl Factory, the critical acclaim of his ‘Science Fiction Dancehall Classics’ On-U Sound compilation and the ‘Metal Dance’ series for Strut, Trevor Jackson is back in 2016 with the long-awaited return of his much loved PLAYGROUP project.

“Inspired by the hedonistic early days of house, disco, post punk, electro and dub, these tracks reflect a unique moment in time”, explains Trevor. “The emergence of underground club culture in New York, London, Chicago, Paris and Northern Italy was driven by pioneering DJ’s playing a wildly diverse soundtrack to a passionate, dance driven and open minded audience. It was a sensory overload of chemicals, bass, smoke, sweat, sex and danger; a testament to the non-air conditioned, non-i-Phone infested and non- corporate clubbing days of yore.”

Targeted directly at the modern dance floor, many of the tracks were freshly re-edited and tweaked with the assistance of Sasha Crnobrnja from In Flagranti. Ed DMX lends a helping hand on one track, two feature the vocals of Mike Z from the seminal new wave band Crash Course In Science, and a young Kieran Hebden (AKA Four Tet) plays guitar on the final EP’s lead track.

Released as series of 9 limited edition vinyl-only EPs over a period of 9 weeks, the 30 tracks featured are a collection of reworked demos and unreleased recordings. Still sounding as relevant today as they did when initially created during the writing process of the debut PLAYGROUP album from 1997-2001. 
Packaged in a collection of 9 individual sleeves that, as a full set, combine to make a single image featuring a photo by legendary photographer Bill Bernstein, they’re as much a testament to Trevor Jackson’s visual ability as his musical one.
