'Bow Shock' is the second taster from forthcoming album, 'Staccato Signals', following 'Fossils'. 

While the latter encapsulated Chatwin's innovative marriage of strings with his arsenal of analogue and modular synths, 'Bow Shock' is the album's most prominent example of Chatwin's use of brass - folded and buried within his industrial electronic template, pushing the palette of sound further into the composer's own unique hybrid of electronic and acoustic.

Following her acclaimed debut album ‘Penelope One’ for Optimo Music in 2017 and ahead of sophomore long player ‘Penelope Two,’ London based antipodean vocalist, musician and soundscaper Penelope Trappes here makes her track ‘Carry Me' available to stream or download.

Despite its dark and dramatic funereal march, lyrically ‘Carry Me’ is positive, exploring a subliminal knowingness that love is the only guide through a chaotic and sometimes painful life.

Originally from the Northern Rivers of NSW, Australia before moving to New York and developing experimental electronic projects Locke and Priscilla Sharp, plus her best-known incarnation with partner Stephen – The Golden Filter. 

Under the latter moniker the duo released albums with Brille, Vinyl Factory and Optimo that were praised by The FADER, Pitchfork, NME, Gorilla Vs Bear and Resident Advisor. Additional endeavours included sound-tracking short films and feature films.

When a wedding band threatened them with legal action to change from their previous name, Heat Wave, the duo decided to take the name of one of their newest songs - Hearts and Rockets. That day Hearts and Rockets, the band, was born. How many times would you like us to say Hearts and Rockets?

To celebrate the shedding of skins, they've decided to release the song that is now their namesake - download it for free here, or pay what you feel at their BandCamp.

SPACE by Activities of Daily Living will be released by Tender Collection. Tender Collection is an artist run, Narrm (Melbourne) based, queer-feminist label. Their mission is to support, promote and distribute experimental, electronic and punk sounds from feminist and queer identifying artists.  

Space is the follow up digital EP to ADL's self-titled and self-released debut tape. The EP features two new tracks as well as two remixes of lead single Space, by Papaphilia and Rebel Yell. 

Activities of Daily Living are a minimalist synth-wave duo. Their music features cold synthetic repetition and the sharp bite of social critique. Space sees the duo continue their upfront and personal songwriting with pumping base lines and pulsing drums.

I grew up listening to Wire and went back and rediscovered Colin Newman’s solo work after listening to This Mortal Coil’s covers of his tracks. I then immersed myself in his work, particularly his album “Commercial Suicide” and fell in love with “I Can Hear Your…”  entranced with its hypnotic and foreboding tone - desperate, yet with a real conviction of strength. 
My interpretation was to remove the sense of strength and expose the vulnerability within the song”

Taken from the limited 7" release 'Carry Me'

Included exclusively with the 7” is a CD featuring ‘Carry Me’ modified by Serbian enigma Abul Mogard into a taught and purposeful 13-minute drone masterwork - As played exclusively by Mary Anne Hobbs 6 Music on August 30th.
