Feat.Fem: Wie bist du zum Auflegen und Produzieren gekommen?

Carlotta Jacobi: Ich habe mich schon als Kind sehr für Musik interessiert und durfte Klavier- und Gesangsunterricht nehmen. Als Jugendliche kam dann das Interesse für Clubkultur hinzu. Obwohl das Schreiben eigener Musik für mich immer wichtiger wurde, kam ich zunächst nicht auf die Idee, selbst elektronische Musik zu produzieren oder aufzulegen - vermutlich weil diese Rollen in meinem Umfeld überwiegend (cis-)männlich besetzt waren. Erst über den Umweg des Radiomachens habe ich gemerkt, wie viel Spaß mir Audioschnitt macht und dass der Schritt zum Musikproduzieren doch eigentlich nicht so groß sein kann. 2014 habe ich mir dann erst Logic und später Ableton sowie meinen ersten Hardware Synth gekauft und mit dem Produzieren angefangen. Damals wäre es sehr hilfreich gewesen, eine Gruppe wie die FLINTA*-Ableton User Group zu haben, um mich mit anderen über Produktionsfragen auszutauschen. 2017 hat mich dann eine Freundin gefragt, ob ich nicht auch auflegen möchte und mir meinen ersten Gig verschafft. Seither treten Produzieren und Auflegen in eine aus meiner Sicht sehr produktive Wechselwirkung.

Wie sieht eine Digging und/oder Producing Session bei dir aus?

Wie meine Producing Sessions aussehen hängt von meiner Stimmung ab und ob ich inspiriert bin - oder nicht. Wenn ich bereits eine ästhetische Vorstellung oder Idee im Kopf habe, fange ich meistens damit an, mithilfe einer Kickdrum eine Art "rhythmisches Bett“ für den Track zu bauen. Dann entscheide ich mich für einen meiner Hardware Synths und gehe auf die Suche nach einem Sound der zu der Stimmung passt, die ich mir vorstelle. Am liebsten mag ich es, wenn sich meine ursprüngliche Idee in diesem explorativen Modus weiter entwickelt und verfremdet. Um diesen Main Synth herum wächst dann meistens der Rest, etwa ein zweiter Synth, Percussion etc.. Mithilfe von Effekten bearbeite ich die Elemente dann noch weiter. Das Hin und Her zwischen Ableton und Hardware macht mir dabei besonders Spaß. 
Wenn ich mal weniger inspiriert bin, finde ich es hilfreich, mir sehr genau ausgesuchte Produktionen anderer anzuhören, die Tracks zu analysieren und mir zu überlegen, wie einzelne Elemente entstanden sein könnten. Das bringt mich dann meistens auf neue Ideen. 
Was das Digging nach neuer Musik betrifft habe ich relativ klare Vorstellungen welche Soundästhetik mir gefällt und durchkämme verschiedene Plattformen danach. 
 
Feat.Fem: Hattest du einen bestimmten Gedanken oder eine bestimmte Stimmung im Kopf, als du deinen Mix aufgenommen hast?

Carlotta Jacobi: Der Mix ist recht feurig geworden, da ich darin Musik spiele, die ich eigentlich für Clubkontexte vorgesehen hatte (und aufgrund der Corona-Lage keine Gelegenheit dazu habe). Es hat mir unter den Nägeln gebrannt, diese Musik trotzdem zu spielen und damit eine Stimmung nach Hause zu transportieren: Sie spiegelt meine Sehnsucht nach einem losgelösten Moment auf dem Dancefloor wider. Außerdem enthält der Mix zwei Tracks von mir, die im kommenden Jahr auf meiner Debut EP erscheinen werden. 

Feat.Fem: Wenn du ein anderes Genre produzieren und/oder auflegen würdest, welches wäre das?

Carlotta Jacobi: Ich habe im letzten Sommer für ein Projekt des LOFFT Theaters einen Soundtrack produziert. Daran würde ich gerne anknüpfen und habe große Lust, weitere musikalische Projekte in einem experimentellen und künstlerischen Rahmen umzusetzen. Ich würde zum Beispiel gerne mal den Sound für eine Installation produzieren.

YUTA (Liquid Drop Groove/JP)

YUTA is a DJ/Organizer/Label owner in Japan, started his career since 2004.

His own Psychedelic Techno label Liquid Drop Groove was established in 2016 with a vision to create a space and soundwave that mimics a ripple made by a single drop on the surface of the water.

YUTA’s playfulness and visions are evident in his transformation from a leading Retro 90’ Goa trance DJ under Matsuri Digital, to his Psychedelic Techno project Liquid Drop Groove.

His music, which he describes as “Acidy Trippy Techno” and “Psychedelic Downbeats” with build up and cinematic flow is a result of his over 15 years experience as an artist, performing at major festivals such as Eclipse Festival (Australia/Indonesia/USA), Ozora (Hungary), Modem (Croatia), Tribal Gathering (Panama) etc. And numerous clubs in Asia and Europe where The Block (Tel Aviv), Shine (Madrid), OIL (Shenzhen), Lantern (Beijing), and many more.

YUTA is running his techno label podcast on RadiOzora by Ozora Festival, wrote some articles on electric music Japanese media such as Clubberia. And he is providing DJ mix for Japanese overground FM radio and some underground podcast.

Having travelled in the world and reached the realization that “Life = Psychedelic”he is on a mission to continue with the concept of “Reforming Consciousness”

Consistently releasing high quality music since the mid- nineties, Jeroen is always right at the sharp end of the techno-spectrum.
This can be found in his releases on his own imprint Search, as well as on labels such as Axis, Token, KEY vinyl, and Figure, to name a few. While continually evolving, his music always remains true to that typical Search-sound.
In 2021 Jeroen contributed music for a conceptual modern dance project for the famous Pinacoteca Museum in São Paulo, Brasil. He also took part in a theater show working with a choreographer, dancers and an video artist, performing his liveset combined
with modern dance and visuals.

Jako, że ostatnie podcasty były szatańsko mocne, a nie samym czołgiem człowiek żyje, następny mix przygotował dla nas Piotr Figiel. Piotrek jest chyba najgrzeczniejszym naszym rezydentem, ale jest także mistrzem produkcji i mentorem wielu producentów którzy uważają, że głośniki są ważniejsze niż adaptacja sali, oraz że w masteringu wszystko da się poprawić. Mix ten jest zlepkiem tracków od samych polskich producentów, więc szanujemy podejście.

Piotr Figiel - producent muzyczny, live actowiec, dj z Krakowa. Wcześniej kojarzony ze swoich wydawnictw pod aliasami DCM i Peter Feegle, od 2014 działa pod własnym imieniem i nazwiskiem. W swojej twórczości Piotr łączy przeróżne inspiracje skupiając się na techno, IDM, oryginalnym sound designie, dobrym brzmieniu i graniu hardware'owych live actów. Jego produkcje wydawane były w wielu polskich i zagranicznych labelach, występował ze swoimi live actami między innymi na Street Art Festival, Ars Cameralis, Tauron Nowa Muzyka czy na legendarnym Instytucie w Warszawie. Piotr jako dziennikarz radiowy prowadził na antenie Off Radio Kraków audycję "Essentia Electronica", która w latach 2015-2021 stała się jednym z najważniejszych źródeł informacji i promocji dla krakowskiej sceny muzyki elektronicznej. Oprócz działalności solowej, Piotr w duecie z Dominikiem Gawrońskim tworzy projekt Krakowitz, skupiający się na syntezatorowo-melodyjnej stronie muzyki. Piotr zajmuje się także produkcją, miksem i masteringiem, pomagając artystom osiągnąć wymarzone brzmienie ich muzyki.

Piotr Figiel - music producer, live act performer and dj from Krakow, Poland. Formely known for DCM and Peter Feegle projects, since 2014 Piotr performs under his own name, focusing his work mostly on techno, IDM and hardware based live acts. His music has always been an eclectic mixture of different influences, original sound design and great sound. Piotr's work has been released on many Polish and international labels, among many dj and live act club gigs, Piotr also performed at Street Art Festival, Ars Cameralis Festival, Tauron Nowa Muzyka and was honoured to play on the legendary Instytut festival in Warsaw back in 2017. Piotr has been hosting the „Essentia Electronica" radio show at Off Radio Krakow station in 2015-2021. The show became one of the most important promotion hubs for the local electronic music scene, artists, collectives and clubs in Krakow. Apart from the solo music activity, Piotr teams up with Dominik Gawroński, creating Krakowitz - nostalgic, synthesizer-based, melodic music project. Piotr also works as a producer, mixing and mastering engineer, helping many artists to achieve the dreamed sound of their records.

Dycide is a Deep-Techno and Drum and Bass producer/DJ based in Munich, Germany. He produces electronic music, which is best described as intricate rhythms combining various percussive textures while keeping a subtle atmosphere. This creates a very minimalistic sound without losing the importance of storytelling. While his other passion, the art of programming, lets him experiment with generative art, both in visual and auditory work. In 2018 Dycide co-founded the audiovisual label IO together with his close friends MTRL & Polygonia. The label already counts many successful releases and has gained a deep following over the years.

"The warmth of the sun on my skin, the sound of music that blends with the sound of the surrounding environment, the surrounding smiles.

I had the pleasure of playing at this beautiful festival, located in a valley with a stream running through it and surrounded by trees.

Three days of complete immersion in nature and music, where I played live for the first time with this musical project, for me, it was a great emotion to propose my music live in this way, it is certainly a moment that I will always remember with joy.

For me, it was also the opportunity to meet many artists and friends for the first time after years of contacts only via internet and to meet many new ones.

I can't wait to come back for the next edition, but this time to dance."

Hydrangea - First Smells Of Spring

The creativity of Forest On Stasys is Influenced by tribal minimalist techno in the nineties and the deepest and most abstract techno currently. In his tracks the most seductive elements are the use of resonant basses perfectly combined with long and reverberated pads, extensive sonorous landscapes that are modified by continuous movement of LFO, solid grooves and strident percussions.

But not everything that comes out of his head is created with an intention to be used on the dance floor. He has a great admiration for drone and ambient tracks, without a rhythmic pattern that predominates, where the main factor is to captivate the listener with melodies that can be marked by a strong melancholy or with notes that give a certain feeling of satisfaction depending on his current mood.

At the beginning of 2019, he released his first  work 'A Vision Of Light' in Danza Nativa, where currently he is one of the pillars of the label based in Buenos Aires.
