This song came out of a season where I was unraveling years of damage. When you’re in a relationship that twists your sense of self, you start to mistake chaos for love. Slippery Grip is what it sounds like to wake up to that — to feel someone else's grip loosen while you're trying to remember your own strength. There’s a strange pain in letting go… and a strange peace too. This song doesn't resolve everything. It wasn’t meant to. But it finally gave me a voice in a story that was trying to erase me.

I wrote this in a good mood. That’s the irony.
Sometimes, when you’re far enough from the pain, you can finally speak the truth without shaking. This wasn’t about losing earbuds — it was about losing trust, and what it feels like when someone takes something they know brings you peace, and they do it anyway.

This song didn’t come from a place of heartbreak. It came from the ruins left behind when heartbreak becomes identity theft.
For a long time, I didn’t understand what I was grieving — I thought it was a relationship. But it wasn’t just the love I lost. It was myself. The self that bent to survive. The self that kept trying to rewrite the story to make someone else the hero. The self that disappeared quietly.

“Silence Inside” was my reckoning. It started with anger — a justified fury — but the deeper I went, the more I found confusion, shame, and a strange kind of numbness. Like looking in the mirror and realizing the reflection has no center.

The spoken part? That was the first thing I wrote. It wasn’t lyrics — it was confession.
The rest of the song came later, layered in with the realization that the damage was designed. That love, in the wrong hands, can be used like a weapon disguised as shelter.

I wrote “These Streets” after a drive through Richmond — the place where my past used to breathe beside me. What hit hardest wasn’t what I remembered — it was what I didn’t feel. I knew exactly where the emotion should've lived. I even had the moment queued in my mind: “And this is where you cry.” But it never happened.
The streets still held the echoes, but the comfort was gone. There was no cinematic breakdown — just a quiet realization that the version of me who used to belong there… doesn’t anymore. And maybe that’s healing. Or maybe that’s just time doing what it does.
So I took that numbness and laid it down like track marks. Beat by beat. Verse by verse. “These Streets” is the result of that drive home — no longer looking for closure, just acknowledging the distance.
