Huggy Funk

Guitar player since 1988, I like rock in all its incarnations. 

This is a one man band project. All tracks are written, performed, produced, mixed and mastered by myself (except for collaboration where songwriters and musicians are properly credited).

Exploring music and sound possibilities on Linux. The search for software that can make me appear talented has failed so far; oh well... O:-)

In Garage Bands as a kid eventually shutting it all down to make a living in the Corporate World. After Life changing events and a shift in direction. Fired up the Studio, Writing, Recording new stuff as well as old, trying to Paint pictures with brush on canvas or words and music. Time to Express! ... WELL
Still looking for a musical niche', but It seems... OCD, Old Age ,and short term memory is leaning towards a bunch of ideas that end up being more like a collection of jingles and short (WIP)'S

I love to play guitar and making music. Doesn't matter how good you are. Music is a beautiful expression of yourself, its a piece of art, emotions and it brings people together. Anyway my father drove my mother nuts in the seventies with jimi songs on a phonograph record while she was pregnant with me. Some of jimis sound and music stuck with me after i was born and i like it since then. Im inspired by a lot of guitarists/musicians...hard to name em all right here. Beside Jimi i like guitarplayers like Johny Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, SRV, Walter Trout, Jeff Healey, Mark Knophler, Jimmy Page, Guthrie Govan, Alex Hutchings, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, BB King, Sam Cooke, Muddy Waters, Toni Abasi, Matt Scofield, Robben Ford, Joe Walsh, Philip Sayce, Kurt Cobain, Brian May, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Joe Bonamassa, KWS, Lenny Kravitz, John Frusciante, David Gilmour etc...Most of all i like to play the blues, blues rock, funk, psychedelic rock, and rock. Hopefully you guys like it...

Hey...Thanks for stopping by, I'm sure I've got something in my "Track List" that you will enjoy...From Reggae to Heavy Rock via Blues and I've even got a Retro TV Theme in there :)

Besides being taught the basic chords at the age of eight I am completely self taught. Sadly this also means that I don't read music, relying on my "ear" to pick out lines/playing styles/tracks etc :) But hey...I get by ok...don't I??? :)

Born, Bred, Raised and Living in Edinburgh Scotland. I'm a family man and fully trained Head Chef who never lived up to his musical potential...I'm sure that must stand for a few of us...yeah?

None of the songs uploaded here were written by me...aside from any I've reposted from other artists, I 'just' played the bass and 'sang' backing vocals on most of them. Recorded over the past 20 years, there are varied styles and varying levels of quality in the recordings, from bedroom demos to 'proper' studio mixes...take from them what you will, but I hope you enjoy :)
