Let It Fly

In addition to being a fine guitar player with a tremendous sense of humor, Ian Tait cooks.  Both on his Strat and in the kitchen.  He's a very fine professional chef from Scotland whose specialty is pastries.   Not blowing anything up your Kilt when I say fine.  So when we put this together, Cooking with Ian seemed to be the perfect title.  Loved working together with him....you'll really enjoy his funky and tight playing.   Thanks so much Ian...great fun

A little later we have some dessert to share with you - Smooth Move - a simply I-IV jam that modulates a few times. I was amazed at how quickly Ian Tait took what I gave him and turned out this song.  I sent him the basic blues structures of this song and in 48 hours he had the lyrics, vocals, and guitar all on top of the track.  AMAZING!

Bedtime Blues (Featuring Ian Tait)

A brand new ambient ballad mix of the original 'Sink Into Oblivion'  featuring Ian Tait on the lead guitar. The song is originally intended to be a Chillout and meditative , but Ian's guitar work has added an unexpected rock ballad flavour to the song !!. It was great experience working with Ian on this collab. Please share it with your friends and let us know what you feel

Sink Into Oblivion (Ambient ballad mix Feat. Ian Tait)

Together.    A remarkable gathering of more than twenty of my favorite SoundCloud musicians.  Guitars, keyboards, basses, tenor sax, clarinet and vocals. Together's musicians are serious creative instrumentalists and are inspirations to so many.  Many are recording artists.  The finest players I know here.   So many are simply remarkable.
   
Together represents what SoundCloud is about, and how effectively musicians can work across the world.   Musicians who have never ever even spoken with each other, but recognize each other by their sounds and the notes, rhythms and phrases they play.  Pretty damn cool.

12 countries are represented here  -- Canada, Dubai, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and the US.   

There are two sections to the piece - a blues piece and a modal fusion section, with soloists across each part, showcasing their distinctive voices.  Vocalatti's beautiful singing is woven throughout the piece - her words and voice really pull us together.  The wonderful keyboard head during the opening and closing was composed and performed by Calaminus, who also has added the great organ comping you hear throughout.   The first and last soloists are brilliant musicians and soloists, as are so many throughout.    

It's been such a pleasure to pull this together over the past 3 weeks.  So sit back and enjoy a true SoundCloud experience.

Voodoo Funk

Always loved the funky groove tracks from the 80's...usually played by ridiculously talented, geeky looking bands...you know the ones I mean...as the cameras zoomed in on them...their embarrassed smiles, lots of nodding to each other, the odd hand in the air to signal a change...anyways back to the music :)

Had fun doing this though I'm not too sure about the mix...it's not sitting how I'd like it to but it still sounds fun...Enjoy my friends :)

About a month ago I released a solo flamenco nuevo piece for acoustic guitar called The Ornament of Solitude in the style of Soleá. I felt that it could have an alternative instrumentation by adding a string section and some extra percussion here and there. This is regularly done by the flamenco guitar greats causing a more ballad kind of feel to the music. 
As I like both versions, the original pure guitar and percussion one as well as this more romantic version, I decided to share this one with you as a reprise and surprise. Some of you already had a sneak preview, but now here it is for every one to hear...

I hope you will appreciate this new take on my earlier release and as always very much appreciate your shares, comments and likes. Thank you!

It is not my best vocal but I really love the groove and wish you an Irie weekend - one love and respect !

Here's my original track I made after a long long time...
dedicated to the loners who had envisioned a design for his/her ideal city during late modern times, which has never been realized because of its radical idealism and criticism against the reality of materialistic world.

It's an instrumental blues rock, but actually, I wrote the draft at first as a song with lyrics a couple of years ago, but I couldn't finish the lines, and let it alone... then almost have forgotten... but I found it on my HD a few months ago, then have revised it as a completely instrumental version...
I hope you enjoy. Any feedback will be appreciated...Thank you in advance.

 - All were played and recorded in the studio (live, open-mic-rec)

This time, I didn't use any distortion effector...instead, done with minimal overdrive of amps to avoid the undesired turbidity of sounds while picking the several strings at once, since I found that my strat had the problem with intonation tuning on the high position, which I couldn't adjust myself...

- Guitar: Fender USA Stratocaster '58 extra re-issued(tuned to one semitone dropped down)
 w/ Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Amp.
>> Lead(on the right) & Some other small fills (various position): 
 Front-PU, w/Boss CS-2, Vintage CE-1 & Maxon AD-9. 
 Additionally, Boss BF-2 for Choir-like fills.
 >> Rhythms (on the left): 
 Half-tone(front-middle PU), w/Maxon RTC600, MXR Phase90 & Maxon AD-9.
- Bass: Fender USA '66 Precision-Bass 
 w/ Fender Bassman Amps, plus Boss CS-2.
*All effectors were anterior use to amps. 
- Drums: Tama Acoustic Drum Kit w/Zildjian Cymbals (6-mics rec).
- Mixing and a few minor edit (revision) of drums : DAW.

Hey...Thanks for stopping by, I'm sure I've got something in my "Track List" that you will enjoy...From Reggae to Heavy Rock via Blues and I've even got a Retro TV Theme in there :)

Besides being taught the basic chords at the age of eight I am completely self taught. Sadly this also means that I don't read music, relying on my "ear" to pick out lines/playing styles/tracks etc :) But hey...I get by ok...don't I??? :)

Born, Bred, Raised and Living in Edinburgh Scotland. I'm a family man and fully trained Head Chef who never lived up to his musical potential...I'm sure that must stand for a few of us...yeah?
