Jon Iverson meets Prins Emanuel, Golden Ivy & Inre Kretsen Grupp is an experiment bridging time and space. Recorded across decades and continents, the album merges ‘80s American home studio sensibilities with contemporary European kosmische.

After receiving hours of unreleased material from Jon Iverson’s reel-to-reel archive, Séance Centre’s Brandon Hocura conceived of having contemporary musicians ‘finish’ the vibrant sketches and demos that had been languishing since the ‘80s. Immediately, a group of musicians working in and around Malmö sprang to mind as sympathetic and exciting collaborators for this material: Emanuel Sundin (Prins Emanuel), Ivar Lantz (Golden Ivy) and Martin Blomberg (Inre Kretsen Grupp). They were inspired by the proposal and spent several days in the studio, weaving rhythms, textures, and melodies around loops and samples made from the original recordings. The resulting album expands Iverson’s percussive and atmospheric vignettes into wide-open 21st Century group-think cosmic music, adding violin, flute, kalimba, lap steel, percussion, guitar, organ, synthesizers, bass, samples, and effects. A sonic landscape that evoke’s Terence Malick’s Montana Badlands as much as Ingmar Bergman’s windswept Fårö Island.

On this edition of Musicians for Palestine Joseph Kamaru (KMRU) speaks on the sound of space. KMRU's music often incorporates soundscapes from cities around the world and in this exchange we hear about the layers of social, political and personal reflection that is involved in the musical process. 

KMRU @kamarujoseph speaks about listening and space in relation to awareness and in this context outlines the importance of unlearning colonial narratives that attempt to normalize systemic oppression and injustice. In this light KMRU speaks about the decision to join Musicians for Palestine.

Vol. 52 comes courtesy of Justin Cantrell aka ju ca, an Australia based musician and founder of the label Daisart. His deep interest in the finer details of sound is evident in his own music and the label he runs that most recently released Haji K’s quiet stunner of a record “Black Against An Orange Line”. Justin is also an avid digger of Australian music, and has some very exciting projects in relation to that coming up soon. His most recent album “Chasms” was released on Angoisse in February of this year and comes highly recommended!

Nick Klein has released a fine line of killer vinyls through labels like Bank Records NYC, L.I.E.S, Viewlexx and recently the tasty "No Shortage of Rope" on Helm's Alter. His record for us is called "Actor Network Theory" and is a monumental trip touching down in darker ambient stuff and slower techno for that party you need to go to when all this lockdown bullshit is over. Klein is based in Holland nowadays.
