As a mallet player/ percussionist, I really liked this composition. A great sensitive ambience is established. It's so nice to hear the purity of the tone of the vibraphone. Excellent.

ANother wonderful experimental piece, like mega slow doom jazz.

I like how this requires we sink into the moment and listen intensely to the nuances and slow speed, breathing more deeply. Perfect timing for me. I needed this today.

Giorni trascorsi rivolto nel fango
il freddo scalfisce la pelle vissuta
la sua voce affonda nell'indifferenza
ritenuto sporco, quasi un esser di troppo

La vita che sfugge velocemente
prima di gustarne a fondo il piacere
un colpo di polso, baglior di pugnale
dichiarano Gorgo
martire maiale

Se c'è un sentimento

di questo mondo che gira in un cerchio
di fuoco sbiadito, l' umanità

Echi lontani di terre africane

La Troisième Valse

As the crowd rushes the stage,
all the cobwebs blow away,
and the memories of your fears, 
flooding back.
As the see-saw rises out,
from the sand pit in the ground,
you see obstacles between you and the floor. 

What comes up always comes down, always a friend who hides his frown,
you can never see him coming till it's late.
Oh, the ground approaches quick,
and you're not ready for it,
as you're bouncing and you're landing on your face. 

Up and downs.
This is life?
Can you take it in your stride.
Ins and out.
Side to side.
Can't seem to get the balance right. 

As the blood pours down your face.
You can see they've raised the stakes,
and there's nothing left to do but have a crack.
Though kept down you raised me up,
in this world of buttercups,
to and fro-ing as the balance works us out. 
The see saw crashes down,
when one side seeks the ground,
yes it's easy to forget about who you owe.
But to play games on your own,
is a fools errand you know.
I'll lift you back up if you keep it safe for me. 

Up and downs.
This is life?
Can you take it in your stride.
Ins and out.
Side to side.
Can't seem to get the balance right. 

Oh, the nerves you feel for days,
that will just not go away.
Or the thoughts that keep lying awake at night.
Or, a day out on the sand,
and your feet on salty land.
Are just different edges, same old butchers knife.

Always Another Dawn

Igor Iofe is a
composer whose musical
paths lead to diverse stylistic destinations. Currently Igor's focus in music is Armenian traditional duduk repertoire which he performs on trumpet. He brings the beauty and warmth of the duduk into his trumpet playing.

At the Conservatorium van Amsterdam he studied with  Wim Hendrickx,Richard Ayres,  Fabio Nieder,Willem Jeths and Jorrit Tamminga. Igor attended masterclasses with Misato Mochizuki, Dmitry Kourliandski, Tristan Murail andTan Dun. His music was performed at the Composers’ Festival Amsterdam (2012 and 2013), Atlas Academy (2010-12),  Looptail XXX and at such venues as De Link, De Duif, Het Bethaniënklooster, Het Veem, STEIM, Muziekgebouw aan 't Ij and CvA in Amsterdam and other cities of the Netherlands. His piece Y+Ywas performed by the Joint Venture Percussion Duo at several venues in the USA and Europe.

Parallel to his Classical Composition studies Igor studied Composing Music for Film with Jurre Haanstra and graduated as a Master in Composing for FIlm at the CvA. During his studies he wrote music for several movies which were shown at the Beeldbuis Filmfestival, Keep an Eye Film Festival, VERS Awards, Cinekid Filmfestival, M2M Filmfestival and Pleinbioscoop Rotterdam.
