Je plains le temps de ma jeunesse,
Auquel j'ai plus qu'autre galé,
Jusqu'à l'entrée de vieillesse,
Qui son partement m'a celé.
Il ne s'en est à pied allé,
N'à cheval: hélas! Comment donc?
Soudainement s'en est volé
Et ne m'a laissé quelque don.

Allé s'en est, et je demeure
Pauvre de sens et de savoir,
Triste, failli, plus noire que meure,
Qui n'ai ne sens, rente, n'avoir;
Des miens le moindre, je dis voir,
De me désavouer s'avance,
Oubliant naturel devoir
Par faute d'un peu de chevance.

He! Dieu, si j'eusse etudié
Au temps de ma jeunesse folle,
Et à bonnes moeurs dedié,
J'eusse maison et couche molle,
Mais quoi! je fuyoie l'école
Comme fait le mauvais enfant.
En écrivant cette parole
A peu que le coeur ne me fend.

Ou sont les gracieux galants
Que je suivais au temps jadis,
Si bien chantants, si bien parlants,
Si plaisants en faits et en dits?
Les aucuns sont morts et roidis,
D'eux n'est-il plus rien maintenant:
Repos aient en paradis
Et Dieu sauve le demeurant!

Et les autres sont devenus,
Dieu merci! grands seigneurs et maitres;
Les autres mendient tout nus
Et pain ne voient qu'aux fenêtres;
Les autres sont entrés en cloitre
De Célestin et de Chartreux,
Bottes, houssés com pêcheurs d'oitres:
Voyez l'état divers d'entre eux!

Michael McKay Combs is a Veteran Singer songwriter who has played with many big names in the country and rock industry! Joining his first band at the age of 15, Combs took to the stage like an immediate pro! He fronted many rock bands early in his career and landed a development deal with a major label in 2003. After the band fell apart Combs moved to Nashville after graduating college and begin paying dues in the country world. While in Nashville Combs accomplished many things and landed a small publishing deal. Making many TV appearances and recording with some big name producers, Combs was well on his way to making a big name for himself. However, Combs mother would fall ill and after his last deal fell through, he returned back to KY. After a couple years out of the spot light, Combs begin writing again and is making a big comeback. The future is now looking up again for Combs and he doesnt plan on stopping any time soon.
