With over 15 releases in the archive the Italo/Berlin based label is now about to drop it’s first ever compilation; ‘Italian Dance Wave’. Bringing together some of the secret weapons that label boss Franz Underwear has had tucked away in his record bag with brand new tracks from the likes of Clap Rules, Bottin and Riders of the Lost Arp this compilation packs a mighty punch with its 22 tracks. 16 of the finest cuts that have been causing damage on the dancefloor will also be released on vinyl alongside the CD and digital release.

Back in 2018, Lumière Noire celebrated its first anniversary with a compilation featuring thirteen exclusive tracks by an eclectic group of electronic musicians – a family portrait of sorts. A few months later, a second volume of From Above, compiled by the label’s artistic director (and DJ) Chloé, once more brings thirteen established acts together with promising upstarts.

The first compilation was the embodiment of the label policy advocating for both artistic excellence and a widening of electronic aesthetics – bopping from deviant house music to adventurous IDM and to the rigor of dancefloor techno, among other electronic explorations.

Some of the artists featured are now closely associated with Lumière Noire, while others were more established performers such as Benedikt Frey, Lauer, Jonathan Fitoussi, Il Est Vilaine, Dave e Brun (half of Swayzac) and Frank Agrario, as well as upcoming artists such as C O N T R A (a side project by none other than Iñigo Vontier), Sutja Gutierrez, Théo Muller, Markus Gibb, Bajram Bili, and a sprinkling of UFOs circling the genre (Suuns’ Ben Shemie, Drvg Cvltvre, and electroacoustic combo Lumi).

This group photo laid down a number of paths for a label in perpetual evolution. Since then, the Parisian entity has continued to grow within the international electronic scene, releasing Local Suicide’s Leopard Gum EP, Iñigo Vontier’s first LP, and planning another slew of releases for 2020.

The lineup for this second volume of From Above is once again equally intriguing, offering a crescendo-like track listing over a double LP format, which is a feat of sorts for a «Various Artists» compilation.

“Possédée” - by C Love! When you ask her fans, “When do you listen to C.Love?”; you will get a cross-section of responses. They are hiking through lush tropical trails in Hong Kong, they are at a rooftop celebration in Morocco, they are in a dark and sultry red-lit underground in Berlin; but no matter where her tracks are amplified, they pave roads that wind, climb and roll seamlessly into our ears through to our hearts and minds.

Her stand-alone method of laying out musical architecture blends waves of familiarity with the strange and unusual, each track with its own unique purpose and design. To feed her creativity, C.Love is known to combine audio clips she has picked up through her travels alongside collaborations she has prompted in make-shift global studios and experimentations produced with her artillery of instruments in her Yucca Valley workshop. From the deep hum of the self-made Didgeridoo, to the Theremin and the Sonica; each track is born with its own intention and personality, some fast and funky, some exotic, mysterious and downtempo.

C.Love currently lives in the California desert, splitting her time between music production and emergency medicine. She continues to open herself to opportunities that allow her to share her unique interpretations and passion for music that inevitably leads to an all-nite party. 
In conjunction with legendary Berlin-based !K7, SOS VOLUME 1 is a 14-track eclectic compilation showcasing dance music from some of the best producers working at the moment including rRoxymore, Violet, Lara Sarkissian, Umfang, LCY & Minimal Violence - lovingly curated to uplift and celebrate the global electronic community in a time of deep uncertainty in the music industry.

A limited run of vinyl will also be made available. Proceeds from the compilation will be donated to three womxn focused charities:

The duo has always made a great case demonstrating how “inspiration” from the creative works of others can truly be made into something new and totally distinct from the source material.  But whether you know the source material bears major influence on what their interpretation is going to even sound like to you.  In other words, you could be hearing the same song as another listener is, but if you’re familiar with the source material, you’re going to also be hearing that, while someone who isn’t familiar with it won’t.  Most of their listeners have no idea this is even going on, or could even be allowed.
I figure I follow In Flagranti quite closely, but I only make a connection here, or a connection there.  Sometimes this happens immediately, other times it’s taken years to notice.  Most connections I will never even be aware of, and I don’t listen for them, they just stand out to me or they don’t.  Sometimes I only discover the source material long after I’ve been familar with In Flagranti’s take on it, which you’d think would detract from the latter, but for me, it only adds to it.  In Flagranti’s musical interpretations show a certain ethic and a philosophy that parallels their approach to visual content.  It’s so “meta” that I’m at a loss to describe it, except to say what I often do:  Warhol would be In Flagranti’s biggest fan if he was around to witness them. – truckerdisco.wordpress.com

Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”
