There are little complex harmonic moments that work very well.  Nice composition, choice of sounds and really terrific mix/production.

One Synth Challenge #136: Odin 2 by The Wave Warden

"Ooriv the weird professor was close to despair and wanted to give up so many times... He just couldn't do it and yet another village lay in ruins. He had followed the notes exactly. But every time he tried to create a Phoenix, it turned into a fire-breathing monster that knew neither friend nor foe. This time it hit Harold's flock of sheep... Only a few animals survived the attack. Fortunately, the creature turned back to ash in a few minutes. Was the merchant in KreVaRon ripping him off when he sold him the old manuscript from Ragnarök? He made his way to his old mentor Norat. He looked at the notes, but couldn't find any serious errors. Of course, as always, he found fault here and there. He was never completely satisfied with Ooriv's work, but that was always incentive enough to continue. Ooriv took notes and went back to his laboratory to try again. This time it had to succeed..."

I created this song in the last few days, it was a busy month. The synth itself is a decent one, could be someone's first synth as it's designed to learn. The controls are pretty basic and the FX section lacks some crucial parameters (like low/high filtering for reverb/delay). The synth has its own character though. It's reminiscent of 90's virtual analog synths with that characterful phase restart effect when unison mode is turned on. I could even make some cool rave sounds with it.

This is my new slow rolling darksynth song with doom/power metal influences as I think this sound fits the synth really well. I've been working with ODIN 2 few years ago. The synth has really good layout and selection of modules and I especially like it's feature of multi stage saturation/distortion that you get from filters and amp section. You can create a really thick analog style sounds with it. I also like the new UI and new features.

Track made for the 136th iteration of KVR's One Synth Challenge (OSC 136) in June 2020. The only synthesizer used for this song was Odin 2 by The Wave Warden (https://www.thewavewarden.com/). There are 11 instances of the synthesizer in the track.

This is the first time I have tried to build my own sounds from scratch - there is still a lot to learn! Odin 2 seems like a very powerful and easy to use synthesizer, however, so maybe I'll continue to experiment...

Originally posted as a submission for One Synth Challenge 136 in June 2020.

The goal was to create a track using Wave Warden's "ODIN 2" virtual synthesizer as a source for all sounds.

This track represents a naive joy of summer, interrupted by pandemic, disasters and mass riots in 2020.

This is mostly a mix and master revision. The original arrangement is preserved.

I'd like to say that ODIN 2 is a great synth. The possibilities are huge and I particulary liked the "analog gain staging" feature that makes everything passed through filters and amp section more fatter and characterful. I also liked the potential variety of digital sounds with different modules and I found wave/spec drawing oscs to be useful for some sounds I made. However, I was always comparing this synth to "Surge", which has a similar set of features but it's wavetable engine are much more flexible and it has slightly better LFOs. Still, ODIN 2 is outstandingly good at analog sounds.

I create music as a hobby, mostly ambient and electronic (retro inspired), but I'm open to (almost) every genre and style of music. I make music that is interesting to me and I like to experiment. It's usually hard to me to stay in the boundaries of a certain genre.

My music is royalty free, meaning you can possibly use it in your own productions such as YouTube videos, videogames, movies etc. I sell music in my shop (downloadable in lossless format), but you can get it for free when it's released. You can also subscribe to my page to receive all single tracks for free, it's way cheaper than buying them separately. The money I earn will be spent on music gear (software/hardware instruments, audio equipment, PC upgrades etc.). If you want you can even get all my music for free (using subscription trial).
