Section 63 - Corrosive

After releasing a single on Insomnius Music in 2023, https://soundcloud.com/section-63 now returns with his first 4-track EP, ‘Corrosive,’ on the label. The producer stays true to his distinctive sound, delivering technoid-inspired drum & bass that is pushing forward with full force: intense, dark, and minimalist.
 
Section 63's futuristic, dark style has its roots in the breakbeat hardcore scene of the early '90s, heavily influenced by London’s pirate radio stations. As a co-founder of The Sect, he played a key role in shaping the techno-influenced drum & bass sound that dominated the 2000s. Today, the producer and DJ continues his musical journey as a solo artist, having established himself as a reliable creator of multi-layered, high-energy tracks, with releases on labels like Mute:8, Subtrakt, and VIA. With ‘Corrosive,’ he delivers a bold statement, perfectly capturing his vision of techstep.
 
The EP opens with ‘Obey,’ a driving track that generates an energetic vibe through relentless percussion and an intense atmosphere. The track transports listeners to a dystopian future where machines and humanity collide. ‘Synthetic’ follows with a minimalist, mechanical sound, crafted from distorted cymbals and synthetic elements, conjuring a cold, futuristic landscape reminiscent of a steel-built, high-tech metropolis. In ‘Corrosive,’ tension builds with an acid line and a psychedelic pattern, pulling the audience into a euphoric spiral–a journey of transformation and renewal. The final track, ‘Light Work,’ delivers a haunting, cinematic mood with eerie sound design and a driving bassline, creating a dark, cinematic atmosphere between hope and decay.
 
The EP immerses listeners in a futuristic sonic realm, where light and darkness seamlessly intertwine.

Born in Berlin, 'Dr Woe' began to produce his own tracks at younger ages and has expanded in recent years his music production skills. In 2016, the 'Insomnius Music' co-founder has released his debut 'The Insomnius EP' on his own label.

Since 2004 'Woe' is known for his driving, varied Drum & Bass Sets with which he takes the listener on a journey of rolling darkside Drum & Bass by deeper styles to tough Neurofunk. In his own Mix series 'The Rolling Woe Show', he has demonstrated for over one decade diversity with a guarantee for increased heart rate. Since 2018 he is running the Podcast and event series 'Keep Da Bass Rollin'. 'Dr Woe' already shared the stage with artists like: Allied, Audio, Cause 4 Concern, Counterstrike, Current Value, DJ Hidden, Fortitude, Phace, Rawtekk, Robyn Chaos, Skynet, Zombie Cats, and Giana Brotherz.

As a producer he also feels passionated with other genres like Hip Hop, Trip Hop or Ambient and produces busily tracks as one half of the duo 'Scary Woods' or solo as 'Moonshyna'. Even as event organizer is 'Dr Woe' active. He is a member of 'The Outrider Crew', with which he has presented several events. 'Woe' is also the grafic designer and one of the resident DJs of the Hamburg based 'Bass Forward The Revolution Crew'.

Insomnius Music is a Hamburg-based music label, founded by Violet Core and Dr Woe in 2016. The focus is on dark drum and bass, blending a diverse range of styles, including deep and heavy drum and bass as well as experimental soundscapes. All of these elements come together to create the unique and sleepless darkish label sound.

As DJs, music enthusiasts, and passionate record collectors, the founders have always aspired to create a music label as a platform for their own productions. With Insomnius Music, they have successfully realized this aspiration and have also created a space for other artists who share their creative vision.

The label is fully independent, values its originality and unique style, steering clear of the generic copy-and-paste approach that is often rampant in the music industry. By emphasizing individuality and quality, Insomnius Music stands out as a unique voice among its peers.

Growing up hooked to the bleeps and breaks of The Prodigy and London’s pirate radio stations, Blade and Virtua followed the development of Jungle to Drum &amp; Bass, eventually finding themselves drawn to the futuristic output of labels such as Underfire and Renegade Hardware – and in particular, the techno-edged Konflict sound.Meeting through friends in the late 1990s, they have been producing Drum &amp; Bass together ever since.
Their first release as The Sect came in 2003, but it was their debut EP on Offkey in 2006 that brought them to the attention of many of the scene’s most important players.A string of releases followed quickly on a host of other respected labels, including: Position Chrome, Freak, Obscene, Habit and Subsistenz and they have received support from DJs across the Drum &amp; Bass spectrum for their productions and remixes on labels as diverse as Cause 4 Concern Ltd, PRSPCT, Red Light, KSS Black and Utopia Music.
Despite the heavy production schedule, The Sect are as at home behind the decks as in the studio. Virtua has showcased his formidable turntablist skills at competitions and nights around the country and Blade has been DJing for nearly 20 years, playing regularly at events across the world, from the UK to Russia and New Zealand. They have established a reputation for high-energy DJ sets, combining tight mixing with cutting-edge dubs to move crowds wherever they play.
The Sect’s debut album ‘Fractured State’ was released on Subsistenz Recordings in December 2011.
