So excited to welcome BLNDR to the series, a long-awaited delight after observing the French producer develop his magnetic and kaleidoscopic sound over the years. BLNDR's mix is glimmering and atmospheric, reflective of the patient and meticulous nature inhabiting his work as both BLNDR and his more-recent Traevor alias. Voiced in a heartfelt tone and assembled with a poet's touch, this set is a soft yet spry landing to an intense season, breathing a new air, fluttering to a new rhythm, earnest to the very end. For our latest Podcast chapter, we are proud to welcome one of Czech Republic’s music scene’s most idiosyncratic personas ~ the producer, DJ and promoter ~ Dominik Knap aka Kletis 🌝

Hailing from the north-most part of the country, an area where breathtaking, dramatic nature and the remnants of industrial activity co-exist in harmony, Dominik’s music channels the deep and the melancholic and crosses boundaries between techno, ambient, drone and halftime drum & bass, coloured with influences from early dubstep and sometimes UK garage. He runs his own imprint DOLEC where he releases his own music alongside a select roster of Czech and international artists. His productions have also notably landed on the French label Accents Records and Secuencias Temporales out of Mexico. Apart from making and playing music, Kletis is a zealous event promoter, co-running a local event series Multiversum and the well-respected annual Shotgun Festival ⛰️🐾

Dominik recorded a mesmerising hybrid set for our Podcast Series, just shy of an hour, for you to dive deep into. A heady meddle of original productions, transfigured samples and found music gems, it oscillates between stillness and movement. In this journey, the drone-drenched soundscapes are the common denominator and the soil in which the percussive and tonal ideas germinate and where they grow from into their final forms. A perfect remedy for those long Autumn evenings lit by candle lights 🕯️✨

Welcome back to Altrove, the podcast where we explore the ever-evolving landscape of electronic music. For the first episode of 2025, I’m thrilled to share a mix that takes us on a different kind of exploration—one that transcends genres and reflects a spectrum of emotions and moods.

“The mix is an extract from my set at Ankali’s Half Weekender, held in collaboration with Transforma Festival. It was the tail end of summer, and I played on the ‘ambient’ stage, aiming to reflect the bittersweet essence of the season’s close — that lingering warmth, the gentle bliss, and the slow transition into a colder, starker chapter ahead.”

Kletis
DJ and producer coming from the top northern borders of the Czech Republic, living in the forest where it’s always raining. Transforming his life melancholy into sound—focusing mostly on deep music. Crossing boundaries between genres of techno, ambient, bass, and even halftime drum and bass.

Started with production in the early 2010s, highly influenced by the original sound of dubstep and UK garage. After a decade and a lot of singles and EPs released both digitally and physically across platforms and labels worldwide, comes the debut album Black Rainbow released on Kletis’s own imprint DOLEC. This album works as a compilation of various genres and different moods. Darkened half-tempos, steps, breakbeats, and even proper techno—packed with beautifully strange rhythmics and atmospheres.

Kletis is also a member of the Shotgun Festival crew, which organizes outdoor festivals, warehouse, and club parties. As a DJ, he focuses his selection on techno tools, the melodic/hypnotic side of techno, industrial atmospheres, and ambient tracks.

A long time coming, this new chapter in our Podcast Series comes from our dear friend and one of our favourite live artists, dan nicholls. We’d have a hard time counting exactly how many times we’ve seen them concoct their colourful sonic potions, effortlessly merging multi-layered depth with soft playfulness, oscillating between meditative horizontal sounds, spoken word and field recordings and high energy bass infected half & double time dance workouts. To witness an artist in pursuit of their genuine expression succeed in building a world of their own while being versatile and open is a beautiful thing to behold and we feel so lucky to be able to share this little peek into Dan’s workshop, in the form a live set recording from Brussels’ Brasserie Atlas ✨

dan nicholls is a producer and multi-instrumentalist exploring sounds at the crossroads of ambient, electronica, jazz and free improvisation. Over the years, Dan has moved on from a career in jazz, via electronic music, to a heartfelt embrace of rave culture and the feminist and queer theories which are all strongly present in the current iteration of their solo projects and collaborations. With a powerful grasp on world building with, through and beyond sound, they co-curate the London-based Free Movements - a multi-sensory event series hosting genre fluid experimental music performances crossing both acoustic and electronic realms 🔮

In the true spirit of their highly collaborative workflow ~ always in the process of making with and through people and other-than-human critters, culture & politics ~ this improvised recording features voices of tyroneisaacstewart, Lauren Kinsella, Juju Love, Moor Mother, Gillie Nicholls, Janet Blake and Palestinian activist whose words contribute in different ways to amplifying of marginalised ideas. And it seems that for every word, there is a sound to match, a little something that carries its weight, gives it a warm embrace and lets it slip in our ears with tenderness and gravity to be remembered through feeling. There’s only one way to know and that’s to press play and listen 🐚

Kosmic Skaut graces us with a truly stunning mix recorded with tender loving care for the 52nd chapter of our Podcast Series. The Prague via Brno based artist has been a kindred musical soul and a friend for a long time and we’re so happy to finally welcome him to our cozy lil family circle 🤍

Mikuláš aka Kosmic Skaut goes slow and steady behind the decks, interlocking psychedelic, acid-tinged and hypnotic sounds in his DJ sets spanning multitudes of ambient and dance music genres. For Mikuláš, music is all about collectivity and togetherness ~ a takeout from his early years as a boy scout. He materialises this spirit in projects including organising festival Michalský Výpad in Olomouc, co-running the notorious ÉTER collective in Brno and regurlarly putting on his Kosmic Care events at Ankali’s Planeta Za which he always ~ as an aspiring chef and baker ~ supplies with tasty homemade snacks. Once you try his pizzenka (the cute way to say pizza in Czech) and this delicious mix, there’s no coming back 🍕

In this chapter of our Podcast Series, we plunge head first into the deep end of ambient psychedelia as we take off on this phenomenal voyage through Kosmic Skaut’s wild and wonderful imagination. As we move through the mix, so it moves with us, allowing for softness to emerge in waves of amorphous drones melting into one another, layered with textures, field recordings and electro-acoustic instrumentation in the build up to the rhythmical crescendo that sees it conlcude 🌬️

Podcast Series 52 | Kosmic Skaut

We are so happy to kick our Podcast Series back into gear with a long anticipated recording from the UK-based duo Plantera called 'Cosmozoa' ~ based on theories of intergalactic spores transferring life to other planets 🌱

I met Lewis and Mason last year at the intimate Sonic Rites gathering, nestled in the wilds of the beautiful Welsh countryside. Smitten by their soothing afternoon set, I knew I needed to approach them and ask if they’d be keen to record a mix for the series ~ and they said yes 💍

So here it is, a magical musical offering born out of synergy between two close friends sharing deep understanding of and passion for music that touches the soul and soothes the mind. And what better time to dial
in this hour and a half journey than after the long weekend of Bank holiday frolics. Sit back, close your eyes and let it take you on a comic ride through soft edged ambient and downtempo psychedelia 💫

The guys also shared a little message for us too to accompany the mix: “Join us on this journey of cosmozoa; ejected into the ether from unknown coordinates, floating aimlessly through primordial dust until being grasped into the orbit of Plantera - gliding through the atmospheric haze before breaking out into blissful serenity, absorbing the sights and sounds of this unfamiliar world while sailing on it's winds"

We could not imagine a more fitting Podcast Series contribution to soundtrack the peak of our of summer than this lush dubby mix recorded by the New York via Chicago DJ & productress Eden Aurelius 🦋

Back in April last year, the inaugural record on the Glaswegian label co:clear lands in the crates at Phonica Records and it steals the show. It was the debut release by Eden Aurelius titled ‘Plateau’ with it’s soft-edged downtempo take on dub techno dancing through clouds of ambient textures and perfectly embodying that netherworld in between ambient and dance music that is the beating heart of Introspective Electronics. Feeling incredibly proud to share this new chapter in our Podcast Series, a profound and powerful mix from the dearest Lou Drago, an artist and human we deeply admire 🤍

Lou is the host of one of our favourite ambient shows @transience-archive which airs monthly on Berlin’s Cashmere Radio to provide listener with a much needed relief from anxiety and together with marum they host sonic-seances under the name @infinity-rug 🫧

Lou believes in the transformative potential of sound and the importance of deep listening. Whether that is listening to each other, our needs or to the sounds around us. In their sets they often explore the sonic landscapes of the in-between, where the listeners perspective dictates the experience, yet holds them in a warm embrace to invite a deep dialogue with the listening body-mind.

like many of us, my heart has been red with grief-rage witnessing the ever-escalating genocide in Gaza. this mix starts with an invocation for the liberation of the Palestinian people, a struggle that omits none of us if we wish to be truly free. 

the slowly evolving sound journey takes us through several realms and phases of introspection, ghosts of the past lingering in melodies they never heard. sonic energies condensing and expanding, offering spaciousness for contemplation and being with whatever arises.

meandering through earthly realms, through the riparian zone, swamps, and forests we meet with mournful spirits in her gut, casting our attention on the multiplicities of loss we are facing. yet in the shade there are angels, who remind us that we have been doing this for many, many lifetimes. ‘keep on’ they seem to whisper. 

eventually we arrive to the sunset inside, where the Grand River’s winds meet the horizon, guiding our gaze upward toward the night sky where the mysteries of the celestial bodies radiate, Lyra’s visions casting an empowerment spell for all those who listen. 

may we each grow ever surer of our paths, finding creative and yet unimaginable ways to continue our collective struggle for the liberation of all sentient entities, until we are all free.
