We're very happy to welcome Antoine to the series. He might operate under the radar but maintains a busy schedule as a heavy contributer to the French scene. He co-heads the well-known Positive Education Festival in Saint-Etienne and the respected Worst Records label as one half of the Les Fils de Jacob crew. He also forms part of the Ultra Low Velocity project together with A Strange Wedding. His solo work enjoys releases on Comic Sans Records, Public Systems Recordings, as well as others. His diverse projects and disciplines can be felt in his selection for the series as they stray completely from any specific genre and can merely be described as elements of trance, dub, electronica, ambient with a psychedelic twist. Newtype Rhythms #152 - Special Guest: Despina

Ilinx is a collection of tracks resulting from sound explorations carried out between 2020 and 2024.
During these years, the compositions were influenced by theoretical, visual, and sonic research. These focused on altered states of consciousness (hypnosis, lucid dreaming, sensory deprivation), psychophysical phenomena (otoacoustic emission, phosphene), the role of mental projections in the process of reality-making (perception), and the role of the imaginary in politics (ideology, distraction, alternative). These pieces are infused with these questions and focus on the induction of psychic states, suggestion of imaginaries, and perceptive confusion.

@sheepshead-music is a DJ and the mind behind the Newtype Rhythms mix series on Inverted Audio, which doubles as a party series at Jupiter Disco and other NYC venues. He's also one of the curators of Unsound Festival, occuring annually in Krakow, Poland as well as organizing one-off events in other cities worldwide. A versatile DJ, his mix for us covers all the bases: from dreamy dub chords to downright rude bass.

"The mix was recorded at home on my Pioneer XDJ-RX; it was made during a period of meandering energies - as I had just gotten my first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine and anxiously awaiting the slow-but-steady incline towards more of my friends, family and community getting access to it as well.

The coalescence of tracks came together through periods of anxiety, but ultimately I wanted the mix to represent a cautious re-emergence towards the collective consciousness looking forward to the future of losing our communal shit on a dancefloor."

Spontaneous Affinity #036: Sheepshead

Second Ballet Mechanique re-issue from the Eevo Lute archives. Originally released in 1997, it was his second appearance on the legendary Eevo Lute imprint. The Borrenbergs 12 EP II marks Jeroen Borrenbergs return with three jams of 90s feeling electro and half-stepping techno that easily passed the test of time.

First track 'Where's The DJ (Pissbreak Mix)' counts over 13 minutes of gritty acid electro, making a halfway transformation into a moody two-step mover. The perfect two-in-one track gives you all the time to go for a toilet break while still being in the mix ;). On the b-side the emotive side of Borrenbergs returns to the surface, with 'Vinyl Voyage' being a spooky bleep jam and 'Diamond Cut' presenting his trademark bassline energizers. Fully re-mastered 2021 edition.
