"I recorded this mix last fall at a really low point. I needed to feel heat in my body and to try to transform my frustrations into something positive through the music. The set starts fully ecstatic and hectic with lots of deck fussin' and cuts, but it settles into what I jokingly call the "Spa Eris" sound. In like a lion and out like a lamb my Mom used to say. I wanted to end gently, not just 'cause I figured we all needed it, but also out of respect for the other players and programming that day, which was sprawling and magical."

Spend enough time at (or listening to) The Lot Radio, and chances are all you'll find Gabrielle Kwarteng. Even though she lives in Berlin now, the American DJ wears New York on her sleeve, repping for the station that helped make her name (she won a Mixcloud award for "Best Eclectic Show" pretty early on). Sure, you could call her sound eclectic—she jumps from house to Afrobeat to Jersey club and beyond—but it seems like "intuitive" might be a better word. She has the taste of someone raised by musical parents on a diverse diet of albums, of someone who eats, breathes and sleeps records.

Buoyed by her success in the US, Kwarteng moved to Berlin in 2019, not too long before the pandemic. Like so many other up-and-coming DJs, her momentum almost stalled as a result. But here we are in 2022 and Kwarteng is more successful than ever, with a string of upcoming festival dates highlighting her wide, transatlantic appeal. Her RA Podcast is equally welcoming, with a taste for house music that feels perfectly pitched between the classic and the new. You can hear an old soul, but she also has cutting-edge tracks from the likes of NIkki Nair, and a gutsy, fantastic edit of "Can You Feel It?" by Tom Carruthers. The mix also reflects her recently getting back in touch with her roots, featuring smatterings of East Coast club music and ballroom, all wrapped up with an exquisite finishing touch courtesy of a long Moodymann play-out.

Deeply embedded in London’s underground house and techno world, Josh exists not just as a DJ. With a versatile skill palette, Josh is also a producer and vocalist and the formidable frontman of infamous house and techno duo Paranoid London (made up of Gerardo Delgado and Quinn Whalley). Josh’s sound roams from deeply versatile DJ sets, to live vocal performances that are driving and entrancing in equal measure – a perfect fit for the sleazy, throwback era, acid house, and old school Chicago house Paranoid London produce so well. As fabric resident Josh has stunned and enthralled us on numerous occasions both at the club and elsewhere. In March we took Josh’s live project along with a troupe of Vogue Dancers to the English National Opera, a set proving he could captivate any venue you put in front of him. Plus stand out sets like his live show at last year's Birthday have solidified him as more than a regular fabric player - fabric family. 

But his creative endeavours don’t stop there. Josh is also one of the masterminds behind beloved London dance music brand and queer party Love Child. Love Child is a collective with a clear-cut aim and has established itself as one of the capital’s best-loved names for seriously good music, and equally good parties. For our 30-hour Birthday, Josh has enlisted Love Child for a Room takeover. Expect a very special showcase from this tight-knit and boundary pushing collective. More details on Room splits, and further special guests for the weekend’s proceedings are set to be revealed in the coming weeks. So, we suggest you keep your eyes locked on the fabric channels for updates. 

This latest recorded set builds and pumps steadily throughout, with warping beats that will gear you up to lose control in the throws of the EC1 dancefloor all over again.

As part of RA2122, our ongoing celebration of 21 years of club culture, we'll be featuring some of our favourite DJs from around the world, highlighting the parties or clubs most important to their lives in dance music. First up we have Tama Sumo and Lakuti, both residents at Berlin's Panorama Bar, the house-focused room upstairs at Berghain. Panorama Bar has played host to thousands—if not millions—of people's most formative dance floor experiences, with an unparalleled vibe, near-perfect sound and window blinds that have taken their own place in dance music mythology. 

The duo's mix highlights the style that Tama Sumo and Lakuti have brought to the club and represents its anything-goes energy, mixing tracks from iconoclasts like Hieroglyphic Being (including one of his best-ever tracks) in with old-school favorites from Reel By Real, Larry Heard and even Ministry, moving from house to industrial to disco without batting an eyelid. Tama Sumo and Lakuti's loose but impeccable flow ties together house music history with a deep love and knowledge of all genres and, perhaps most importantly, the desire and know-how to just make people dance. We couldn't be more thrilled to feature Tama Sumo and Lakuti for the first mix in our birthday series, and we hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.

This is a booth recording of Huck playing the headline slot of the September 2015 edition of Midwest Fresh held at MINT Gallery in Columbus, OH.  Midwest Fresh was a series of warehouse parties thrown by a changing cast of Columbus DJ's and promoters including Jed Fenton, Kevin Brugger, Tony Fairchild, Alexi Vlaar, Brian Cheng, Titonton Duvante and Mike Amerine.  It ran from August 2014 - October 2019.

This mix is shared publicly for the first time as part of a series of interviews paying tribute to Huck and his legacy.  The first edition of this multi-part tribute will be published December, 7 2022 at https://presstest.substack.com/.

Note: The sound can be a little hot in the beginning but things level out after a bit.

I remember playing this set with a high intensity fitness/ spin class in mind and now it's all yours for gym and cross trainer soundtracking :-)

Mixed live for PRIDE 2020 Sound Of New York livestream on The Lot Radio. Our virtual dance-a-thon was a fundraiser for The Okra Project, Black Trans Travel Fund, For the Gworls, Black Trans Femmes in the Arts, Trans Women of Color Survival Fund, G.L.I.T.S. Inc., New Alternatives and some of the streaming artists that needed financial assistance due to the nightlife economy being shut down. LGBTQ+ community from around the planet often travel to NYC specifically for Pride so we highlighted a wide assortment of local area talent to show the world a diverse appreciation of beats and expression. Collectively, it came together far easier than we thought especially during an unprecedented era therefore a tremendous thank you to @thelotradio for hosting everything, Good Room & Elsewhere for the live remote access and use of their DJ equipment, every single DJ and collective for their art of the mix and last but not least YOU for supporting not only your faves but also contributing to very important causes throughout the "party". Black Trans Lives Matter everyday. Without blind love for one another we simply fail to do more for our rights, our extended Q+ families and the next generation of free belief spirit.
