Some DJs treat genre boundaries like walls; others see them as doors. Craig Gonzalez belongs firmly to the latter camp. A staple of Detroit’s underground and a resident DJ at Paxahau’s Third Thursday monthly, he has long been drawn to what happens when techno’s linear propulsion collides with the restless syncopation of drum & bass. That liminal space, the “grey area” between the two, has become one of the most fertile playgrounds in electronic music over the past decade, and Gonzalez shows why. In this mix, recorded as the opening set on the Movement main stage, he handles tempo as a fluid variable, shifting gears without friction and letting polyrhythms function as the connective tissue. It’s the kind of approach that resists the obvious peak and instead builds a topology of groove, a groove that bends but doesn’t break, carrying dancers across time signatures almost without them noticing. 

And while opening a stage that would later host Deepchord, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Octave One, and Jeff Mills could be seen as a daunting warm-up role, Gonzalez treats it less as preparation and more as architecture. Across ninety minutes, he layers patterns with patience, calibrating intensity so that tension rises and releases without tipping into spectacle. The set moves like a conversation that shifts from whispers to declarations, never overstated but always persuasive. It’s a reminder that flow is not just sequencing but narrative logic, and that true mastery lies not in domination of a dancefloor but in shaping the conditions for everything that comes after.

There’s always that one set at Perpendicular that people talk about after. In 2024, it was Fhionbarra’s closer, a set that caught everyone's attention and ultimately became the reference point for the entire edition. Coming into this year, expectations were quietly building. The line-up mixed familiar crews with newer names from across Europe and beyond, with London showing up particularly strong. That blend is what makes Perpendicular tick: the local warmth, the international cross-pollination, and the sense that discovery is just as important as reunion.

This time, the slot was different. Instead of a final word, Fhionbarra was handed Saturday late afternoon, when the forest is still glowing with light and people are searching for a balance between motion and pause. He leaned into it with a set built on breaks and halftime, cut clean and calibrated for the hour. No force, no shortcuts, just patience, groove, and trust in the moment.

The effect was undeniable. The crowd didn’t need intensity, they needed direction, and he gave it to them. The floor moved easily, the heat started to fade, and suddenly the afternoon was marked by that rare kind of clarity when the right DJ meets the right context. Fhionbarra proved last year wasn’t a one-off, he can shape a moment on his own terms, no matter the slot.

Delayed x Perpendicular: Fhionbarra

Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

We all have core memories of special dancefloor moments. Audience fully hypnotised, beating as one, lost in the music. Pure instinct, and the wildest spirit within each one shining through. Some artists have an uncanny ability to channel that. And today we present 2 masters at making those moments happen, via Perpendicular Festival 2025. Part of the Ouroboros takeover on Friday night, their performance at the event was one for the books. 

Toé, one of the minds behind EWO collectif and the Ouroboros project, has been mesmerising audiences with some stellar performances. A testament to it was her set just a couple days ago on her home turf, when we witnessed her sorcery at the peak of it's powers. With music that taps into the most feral and primal, it's hard to explain the purity of the feelings she conveys with her mixes. One thing is for sure, Toé has an ability to get your inner animal manifest on the dancefloor. 

Vardae needs no introduction at this point. His releases on Samurai Music or Non Series have established him in that "timeless" space of music creators. One to blame for the expansion on half time and dnb sounds into new psychedelic territory. Vardae is at the very front of a movement that unites breaks, tribe, trancey sounds and techno energy into a new irresistible ritual. His live performance gets better every time, and he turned Ouroboros upside down a couple of days ago. 

Together, you can only imagine what these magicians summon with their sonic potions. And Perpendicular was the cauldron in which their perfect mix took shape. Impossible drum patterns, enchanting atmospheres and their particular flare for transcendental sounds. Combined, these two take their wizardry to the highest levels. 

We couldn't be happier to host these two beloved artists, friends and amazing creatives. Inspiring humans that we always wanted to have in our channel. Infinite gratitude to Melu, Cedric, and the Perpen team for letting us host this piece of musical history. This is HUGE.

The Continuum: Toé & Vardae - Perpendicular 2025

LEVL performed on the third day of #Mostra25 at the Vall d'Hebron Olympic Pavilion.

Forest Drive West, Felix K and DB1 are LEVL. Together, they explore the murky territory between drum & bass, techno and experimental electronics, crafting a distinctive sound that defies the boundaries of genre. The trio's collaboration began with DB1 and Forest Drive West putting out music through Berlin-based Felix K’s label Hidden Hawaii, which led to the formation of LEVL: a combination of each artist’s unique production approach that creates a cohesive and innovative sound. 

LEVL's debut release, “LEVL#1”, was issued in 2019 on Arcola, a sub-label of Warp Records, a bass- and breaks-heavy record showcasing their ability to blend ambient textures with complex rhythms. “LEVL#2”, on Felix K's Nullpunkt label, further explores the intersection of ambient, drum & bass and techno.

Beyond their recorded output, LEVL brings a strong energy to live performances, delivering an immersive and genre-bending musical experience. With meticulous attention to detail, the group pushes the boundaries of electronic music through soundscapes that challenge and captivate listeners.

As a Mostra resident since the first edition, Timnah (@timnah-sommerfeldt) has shown throughout the previous years a great versatility, adapting to any venue and time slot of the festival always brilliantly. After closing Mostra24 in a masterful way, the Swiss artist visited Mostra25 to do a hybrid set with Mario (@mario-7), who also joined Mostra with Varuna (@varuna4053) a couple of years ago in a performance of which we also keep very nice memories.
The hybrid DJ/live set of Timnah and Mario is a match made in heaven, linking top notch selector capabilities to swirling hardware techno aesthetics and flawless execution. Both hailing from Basel, their collab also entangles the two local labels Amenthia Recordings (@amenthia-recordings) and A Walking Contradiction (@awalkingcontradiction). Through their close collaboration with both labels and heaps of collective of studio time, their musical taste and approach have become deeply intertwined, resulting in long build-ups and transcendental sound sculptures.

Mostra (@mostrabcn) is an independent, small-scale festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music that emerged at the end of 2021 as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial, and impersonal offerings of other large events held in Barcelona. Mostra will celebrate its fourth edition from March 12 to 15, 2026.

Together with AtomTM he is SYNC. - a live techno project focused on improvisation and collaboration. Together with Yves De Mey he is Sendai, a forward looking experimental outfit with releases on Editions Mego, Archives Intérieures, Konstrukt and Stroboscopic Artefacts.

Some collaborations feel orchestrated. This one felt inevitable. Reeko and Mostra share a certain DNA - innovative, uncompromising, with an appetite for risk. One’s a festival, the other a force of nature, but both operate outside the usual margins. So when Reeko stepped into the cavernous Pavelló Olímpic on the final day of Mostra 2025, the match didn’t need explaining. After three days of sonic overstimulation, the crowd could’ve easily slipped into post-peak autopilot. Instead, something sparked.

Reeko played with the confidence of someone who doesn’t need to raise his voice to be heard. He didn’t grab attention, instead he tuned the room to his frequency. No spectacle, just sustained pressure. The kind that doesn’t shout, but hums somewhere in your bones. From the first mix, he had total control, not just over tempo, but over tension, perception, direction. It wasn’t peak-time euphoria. It was something colder, sharper, more elemental.

What happened on that floor wasn’t mystical, and it wasn’t romantic. It was human circuitry, bodies moving like they’d been rewired. A dance floor fully switched on. In a festival stacked with standout sets, this one kept floating to the surface in post-Mostra conversations. We’re proud to share this recording. It was special. Now it’s permanent.

Delayed x Mostra: Reeko

There was a meme circling the internet at some point saying, “People who show you new music are important.” Connecting with Axymt, a Lyon-based DJ and music aficionado, feels exactly like that. It is like meeting someone who speaks your dialect of obsession, where recommending a track is almost a form of autobiography. His work with atmós sphaîra, Monochrome, and the Ouroboros crew carries the rare consistency of someone who pulls from many corners yet curates with a firm sense of direction. You can sense the collector’s instinct in the way he folds tribal percussion into dub-leaning atmospheres and in the way groove becomes a kind of compass, guiding the set without ever feeling decorative.

For this edition of Delayed with, he eases into a slow-moving techno ritual that feels deceptively simple on the surface. The BPMs sit low enough to let the body loosen and the mind wander, yet the pulse keeps sliding forward with a subtle undertow. This is the zone we jokingly call seaweed techno, flexible and buoyant, shaped by tiny currents rather than grand gestures. Axymt sidesteps the temptation of drama and focuses on micro-movements inside the percussion, letting small mutations carry the narrative. The mix can open a room gently or guide you through a late-night drift. Whether you catch it in passing or sink fully into its grain, the reward is the same: a gentle nudge that the right groove finds you, not the other way around.

Close your eyes & imagine a scene unfolding in front of you - the air is cold & crisp, your breath barely visible in the darkness as you exhale, the warm air in your lungs condensing into clouds of fog as it leaves your body. Everything is quiet & the trees sit still around you, all of the sounds gently muffled, other than a faint warm rumble of sub frequencies, somewhere in the distance. You can’t quite pinpoint it but you follow the sound as your feet softly crunch down on frozen earth. As you get closer, you suddenly notice a mysteriously intriguing concrete structure start to appear in the forest. Lights glowing from windows partly shrouded in freshly fallen snow, resembling an abandoned bunker, eerie but peaceful. The music invites you towards it, so you open the door & step in. Immediately you’re enveloped by warm, humid air & hit with a full spectrum of sound, as if the opening of the door was the opening of a low pass filter. 

For this week’s Delayed with edition, we welcome Berlin-based artist Valentin Ginies with a special recording from this bunker in the woods. You may be familiar with Valentin already, as the man behind 11001 Records, or through the festival he organizes outside of Berlin, Third Eye Festival. Last December, he was lucky enough to play an all night long set at this mysterious venue, after the first big snowstorm of the year, with 1 meter of snow on the ground. Aptly named Concrete, the venue is as discreet as it gets, an intimate, minimalist space with no signage on the outside, tucked away in the mountains of a small village in the Japanese Alps called Hakuba, just outside the city of Nagano in Japan. The recording consists of the first 2 hours of his set, where he slowly & steadily drew people into the space, setting the tone for what was to come.

There are festivals you attend and festivals that rearrange something small but permanent inside you. Perpendicular belongs to the latter. After collaborating in the past from afar, 2025 was the first time we actually stepped into the pine-covered clearing that so many trusted friends had mythologized. The stories turned out to be accurate. Perpen is a wavelength, a temporary pocket of reality where strangers treat each other like long-lost cousins and music arrives without the burden of proving anything.

Medi became the custodian of the final night, a responsibility whispered about long before we reached the festival grounds. We met him in Valencia days earlier, sharing coffees and paellas, and the quiet confidence in his presence suggested the weight of experience rather than ego. His record bag ended up in our car on the drive to the woods, and resisting the urge to peek at those vinyls felt like an oath. Friends offered no clues about what he might play, which only deepened the suspense. Some artists close a floor. Medi was preparing to close a narrative.

When the cartridges were swapped, and the stylus touched down, fatigue evaporated like mist. Techno and electro braided, pulled along by those razor-sharp snares that sliced through the smoke like a metronome for the collective psyche. Each snap felt like a reminder that the night still had business to finish. Medi’s vinyl work was absurdly fluid, so intuitive it seemed the records were cueing themselves. Broken patterns teased hallucinations, basslines carried the tired bodies into borrowed energy. Then The Cure’s Forest appeared like a knowing smile from the universe, reminding us of where we were and how lucky we felt to be there. The dancefloor dissolved into laughter, hugs, disbelief, and eventually a gentle crawl toward La Cabaña for one final ambient delirium.

What lingers about this mix isn’t just the track selection or the execution, but the emotional climate it documents. You can hear the relief of a weekend well-lived, the gentle ache of goodbye, the kind of affection that only forms on a dancefloor surrounded by trees and dust and shared emotions. Perpen 2025 quietly rewired our sense of what a festival can feel like. Until the next pilgrimage, Medi’s recording remains the ember reminding us it wasn’t a dream.

Bwart23 - Live not in Vanity

Javi’s contribution to La Mostra’s biennial unfolded inside the Convent de Sant Agustí like a quiet act of urban archaeology. Tilect’s pairing of his sound design with Marta Lofi’s live visuals turned the cloister into a resonant chamber where Ciutat Vella’s streets reappeared as spectral traces. He approached the theme in the only way he knows: wander, listen, record, return to a quiet corner, and let the fragments dictate the form. The resulting piece bends the city into a dream logic of its own, where echoes slip into harmony and environmental debris reshapes itself into something strangely elegant.

There is a particular magic in Javi’s work, a way of treating everyday noise like soft clay. Years of diving into granular processes, pedals, and the raw geometry of sound have given him a language that feels both intimate and slightly extraterrestrial. The first time we heard him, at Mostra nearly four years ago, he and Alex as .apart made the city feel alive in a way that bordered on surreal, like Barcelona’s neighborhoods were whispering their stories directly into the PA. This new recording carries that same spark but with a deeper sense of curiosity. Close your eyes and you might imagine an alien craft touching down in Ciutat Vella and trying to negotiate with unbothered locals who answer confusion with a casual sax riff. The tension is playful rather than dramatic, a shimmering frequency that settles the body rather than startling it. These thirty-five minutes show an artist who keeps refining how memory becomes texture and how place becomes pulse. It’s a pure joy to include this one in the series, a quiet demonstration of how listening can tilt your sense of place in unexpected ways.
