Introducing Absira, the avant-garde project conceived by Marco Ragni and ABSIS. This recording is extracted from Espacio Perpendicular 24, marking their inaugural public performance amidst the enchanting Spanish forest. 
The live set, an entirely improvised feat, highlighted the potent fusion of their artistic energies.

Last year, we had the pleasure of hearing Qmico perform an incredible techno set at Annahme festival in Japan, surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Kochi, and bathed in the bright light of the hunter's full moon. A very profound, psychedelic experience. Listening to this mix over the past week has been a really special way of revisiting those memories. It's an honour to now welcome her to the series <3

We are happy to welcome Pleaser (former Fibre Optixx) to our 23rd Herbarium episode. With various influences he showcases a tribal yet housy but technoid selection. We were amazed by many interesting audio experiments throughout his well crafted journey.

Pleaser chose the plant Datura Stramonium for his mix, here is why:
Datura Stramonium is a psychoactive deliriant traditionally used in folk medicine and occult ritual. The drug induces a state of total confusion and disassociation, with users reporting not knowing where they are for days at a time. Join me on this long strange trip.

About Pleaser

Pleaser is the new musical project of  the Berlin based artist formerly known as Fibre Optixx. Born out of a desire to explore and abstract musical motifs from genres spanning from low slung chugged out disco or jacking machine music by way of Chicago and Detroit, to the gritty textural sounds of black metal, goth rock and hardcore. Under his Fibre Optixx moniker, he has released a number of EPs on KANN Records as well as a self release, and has a new album set to release towards the end of the year.

Herbarium No 23 - Pleaser - Datura Stramonium

In the past few months, we’ve found ourselves returning to a remarkable corner of the Spanish midlands, where music thrives in a unique and unpredictable way. Perpendicular Festival has become the place where artists embrace spontaneity, crafting moments that feel truly alive.

This time, we’re focusing on o.utlier, an Irishman based in London whose debut album Alaya on Appian Sounds left an unforgettable mark last year. A co-founder of Titrate Records and a resident DJ for Astral Industries, o.utlier has mastered the art of balancing a diverse range of sounds, from drone to intricate polyrhythmic techno. If you’re familiar with his work, you already have a sense of the musical journey he can take you on.

It was a bright Saturday afternoon when he took the stage, easing the crowd into the day with laid-back broken beats and serene atmospheres. There was an unspoken magic as the music slowly drew everyone in, almost imperceptibly. Beneath a canopy of shade, the crowd swayed, their movements guided by his subtle changes in tempo and tone. Before long, the energy began to build, smooth, natural, and unforced, until the atmosphere shifted into something more adventurous.
Suddenly, the set took a turn, diving into murkier territory. Darker tones emerged, with dub influences and intricate rhythms that seemed to challenge both body and mind. Over the course of nearly two and a half hours, o.utlier created a magnetic experience that felt both cerebral and visceral—a true journey through the unexpected.

This performance was a special one; it was a shared moment at a gathering of kindred spirits. Do you really need another reason to hit play? We think not.

Delayed with... o.utlier [Delayed x Perpendicular]

As the days grow shorter & the leaves begin to turn, we find ourselves looking inwards, preparing our minds for the beautiful yet harsh cold winter months ahead. There is a particular awareness of the present moment during these transitions from season to season, as cooler weather gently makes its way to the New York area. I certainly find myself seeking out music that is more introspective & comforting during these fall months, something to accompany a long walk through the woods or a drive through the morning fog. 

Dutch producer Tensen Park - the newest member of our Never Late family - presents us with an ethereal hour-long journey through some of his current favorites & musical influences. It is a mix crafted for these moments of seasonal transition. "I wanted to make it a bit of a trip" he said, "starting with some deeper, more emotional / human tracks then working towards some more playful / more energetic tracks." These 'futurebeats', as he describes this particular sound, consist of a blend of IDM, breakbeat, ambient & dub.  This style can be heard sprinkled throughout his ‘Jurassimo’ EP which was just released on our own record label, Never Late.  Tensen Park included two of his own tracks in the mix, in addition to a collection of tracks that he has been listening to for the past couple of months.

Delayed with... Tensen Park [Never Late x Delayed]

We’ve been on a roll lately at Delayed, with the caliber of mixes coming our way steadily raising the bar. Today, we’re thrilled to feature a mix from a familiar name: our friend Malte Schumann, known to many as Caldera, the German producer hailing from Brighton. His production work consistently brings a unique spark, and that same artistry comes through when he takes control of the decks. Some artists refuse to settle into a single genre, and when approached with skill, this can be one of their greatest strengths. Caldera’s set showcases just that, steering clear of predictability and embracing the freedom to explore.

What we have here is an expertly crafted mix, technically sharp and atmospherically rich, with a track selection that perfectly balances exploration and coherence. It’s a dynamic journey through the best facets of electronic music, with a strong lean towards groovy, tribal, off-kilter techno. Starting off on a mellow and organic note, the set gradually builds momentum, morphing almost imperceptibly until it’s carrying an irresistible energy. The transitions are seamless, the flow is natural, and every shift feels deliberate.
This one deserves a spot on your essential listening list. It reminds you how thoughtful curation can transform a set into something that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

Raúl unfolds a sonic continuum that absorbs us with subtlety, while at the same time revealing a powerful evocative and immersive capacity.

Each of his performances is the result of research that dates back to the early 90s and remains alive through his constant commitment to risk-taking. This dedication, combined with a technique refined over the years, is complemented by the passion and generosity that bring authenticity to his artistic vision, making each performance a sincere and vibrant expression, always in service of our enjoyment.

Serious Cut is the project of Raúl Zapata, a key figure in Spain's underground scene based in Valencia, with over 30 years of experience. His sets are characterized by exploring alternative and avant-garde styles of electronic music, always with a personal vision and an innovative approach.

Oslated Special Mix 058 - Serious Cut (Vinyl Session)

With today’s mix, we close the chapter on this year’s collaboration with Perpendicular Festival, where we teamed up to present some of the most inspiring and forward-thinking sets from artists like Eight Fold Way, 037, Javier Marimon, Sciama, and o.utlier. 
For the grand finale, we’ve saved something truly special: a live set from Valencia-based duo Pajaro Dune, composed of Jaime Romero (aka Estrato Aurora) and composer/pianist David Ortolà (aka d_o_ppelgaenger).
If you’ve followed Delayed, you’re likely already familiar with these two. Their partnership spans over two decades; in that time, they’ve refined a distinct musical dialogue. This particular set, performed on a Sunday around noon, struck the perfect tone for what followed. The interplay between broken, raw, and distorted 606 grooves, oscillating effortlessly from halftime to low-slung tempos around 100 BPM, paired with atmospheric synths, created a hypnotic and propulsive mood.
Romero and Ortolà have found a rare balance, where their sound feels both unbound and deeply rooted, ideal for those transitional, warm-up moments that shift a gathering into flow. This music makes you move like seaweed swaying beneath the surface in the dysphotic zone, where fleeting shafts of sunlight pierce the dark.
