Love letter from DJ Chichi 💌

Today is a special day, Chichi brings us flowers and pralines. Everyone who’s heard her play will know what to expect: A variety of well chosen records, played in a fine mixture of vinyl and digital. Nothing less than an hour of deep diving into soundscapes and emotions. A connoisseur set - wrapped with love, with tracks by Dj Plead, Acidfinky, Miles Amillion, David Löhlein and others.

You can almost grasp the concentration seeing Chichi play, leaving a remarkable feeling of seriousness about the craft. That is also what she transports while talking. She feels deeply connected to the scene, being the reason why her and the xcuse:u events are demanding change without just opening another hedonistic space. Having organized the 8-to-the-floor-event at Alte Münze, hosting a show on Refuge Worlwide, having played at OXI, Mensch Meier and our beloved Kiek Beyond Festival, Chichi has become a crucial part of the scene.

In episode 12 of the Visionscast, DJ Chichi moves around through genres and moods, from groovy percussions and vocal samples over deep house to proggy and breaky sections, presenting her whole toolbox of electronic joy. This joy has also reached Visionskultur, which is why Chichi has not only played one of the legendary B2Bs with BBY G at Humboldthain Club for a Visionskultur Club Night or taken over the Nest floor at our festival, but has also evolved to being a very much appreciated and loved human being <3

Nico grew up in a small coastal town in Galicia in the late 80s. In 2008, he started to involve himself with deeper shades of electronic music and their profound sentimental atmospheres. His interest became an obsession, and within two years he began to play in clubs across the Spanish northwest.

According to the artist, he was influenced by a golden generation of local DJs who helped define and shape his sound in terms of dance music, along with a rounded love of legendary bands and artists from across the musical spectrum. His musical philosophy is that everyone has something to bring, so there is always something to learn.

In 2015, Nico moved to Barcelona, expanding his horizons both artistically and personally. He’s currently one of the residents of the renowned Nitsa Club, and together with the duo Binomi, is responsible for HIRU, a multi-venue party across the city designed as an ode to club culture.

Nico prefers not to pigeonhole himself into any particular style, but his sets are nothing short of hypnotic. When he plays, he looks for that peculiar sensory union with the dance floor that connects them without words, seeking to lead the night in the same direction together.

ARTEMIDES is the new Duo Project from renowned and versatile producer and electric violinist Seth Schwarz and his partner Lydgen, who is also a trained violinist and talented singer. While the sound foundation is set by the deep & wide melodic electronic groove and the passionate violin play of SETH, LYDGEN fulfills the sound scapes by adding on epic melodies and sweet improvisations with her angelic voice. They have been producing music together since they met several years ago and founded their own Label NASAJA in 2024, where they gonna release a collection of beautiful mostly melodic house tracks.

This week on the podcast, a mix from friend of the festival and celebrated Cartulis resident Junki Inoue. Born in Tokyo but living in London since 2012, Junki's been an avid record collector from an early-age. Few have bags as deep, something shown by this mix, which happens to be an hour section of his set from Dimensions 2022. It's testament to the timeless sound he's cultivated that you'd never tell.

Somewhere in the south of France hides a festive oasis that, isolated from the world, comes to life every single year under the warm June sun. Organized since 2016 by Melifera Records, the aim of La Vallée Électrique festival is to bring together a community of artists and cultural stakeholders. For a weekend, electronic music & projections enhance the song of cicadas and the dancers the movements of nature in perfect harmony. An intimate experience in the heart of La Drôme Provençale, bringing together more than 600 electronic music enthusiasts from all over Europe for a timeless moment of nature, music, and discovery.

The 2024 edition of this festival will take place from 14 to 16 June.

This year, the line-up includes exclusive encounters with Feral & Ntogn, figureheads of Italian label Hypnus, and German duo Dycide & MTRL, representing IO Records. Clarence Rise and Café de la Jungle will also be on board, alongside some of France's finest electronic talents: Hewan Aman, Tauceti, Sindh, and many more. Throughout the day, live music and exclusive performances will take centre stage, with two showcases from rdg tribe and Polën, featuring artists such as Timnah, F-On and Javier Salazar.

An immersive, eco-designed scenography frames the event, supported by interactive installations and creative workshops to create a seamless fusion between Human, nature and technology. The project is a dream world, a utopia.

This is what Shani and Heliopora, one of the organizers of the festival, said about the mix: 
“The aim of this podcast is to take you through the different vibes of the La Vallée Électrique 2024 festival. In fact, the tracklist on this recording represents the timetable. 3024: Otik, can you describe your mix in a single sentence?

"An ethereal and drum heavy journey between 160 and 170bpm, which includes old and new inspirations for my recent ‘Cloud Runner’ EP on 3024."

3024: What DJ inspires you at the moment / has inspired you throughout the years and why?

"I’ve actually talked about this recently, but I’ve always been in awe of Midland’s sets. The way he can read a crowd and create heart stopping moments on the spot with ease has really inspired me to become a better DJ."

3024: What are you working on / what have you got forthcoming?

"I’m currently finishing up two records for the same label, I can’t say who yet but I’m really happy with how they sound. The music focuses a bit more on the dance floor, 4x4 rhythms and sits within the 135-140pm range, which I haven’t experimented with for a while."

Starting a residency at Klubd in Nicosia at the age of 23, Alex affected the electronic scene in Cyprus. Since 2013, he has been a resident at the renowned Berlin underground daytime party, STAUB—a space recognized for its sense of community and diverse electronic music offerings. Alex’s career features performances at iconic venues such as Tresor, Gare Porto, and Kantine am Berghain.
Capparis Spinosa is the imprint he founded in 2017 to present his music, including exclusive collaborations and remixes. His releases on Claudio PRC’s label “12” and the consistently dancefloor-appropriate release on Maeve exemplify the artist’s commitment to expression over confinement. The Paludose Canter EP showcases his profound and emotive dancefloor expressions traveling across various moods.

For this week's episode of "Delayed with..." Alex Tomb created a peak-time techno journey that bursts with energy, driven by thumping kick drums and sharp percussion. If you need a companion for your next workout, this mix will do the trick.

Class 1990, @viels was born in a little city outside Milan (Italy). Early in his adolescence he discovered techno culture inspired by a book called “TECHNO“ by Christian Zingales. Having released his first Ep on Initial Berlin in 2015, Viels continued his musical path appearing with a track on the well respected dutch imprint Dynamic Reflection, followed by his debut ep “Distrophism” and contributing for the 10 years anniversary of the label, among some of the most recognised artists in the scene: Donato Dozzy, Mike Parker, Shifted, Oscar Mulero, Blawan, Ness, Jeroen Search and many more.

Co-owner with Francesco della Sala of “End Of Perception”, Viels just released also on label such Warm Up, Non Series, Mord, and Semantica Records.
At the moment he is resident of the Acquario party in Milano and an active part of the organization of it.

With an increasing interest and having performed in quality clubs like Tresor, Perron, Cassette, Schron and shared the booth with the likes of Oscar Mulero, Svreca and Dasha Rush to name a few, Viels is establishing himself as part of a new wave of djs and producers approaching the contemporary techno scene.

The time has come to reflect on some of the standout performances from this year’s remarkable Mostra Festival. There were some program adjustments, and new stages were added compared to last year. We had more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors around and inside the Castell De Montjuï. Thursday at the Hangar provided a perfect opening, a special day for all of us who cherish ambient, experimental, and obscure music. The Pati stage at the Castell De Montjuïc was a brilliant addition and hit the mark perfectly.

But let's start from the end with the festival's closing set, the grand finale. The Mostra crew meticulously planned the lineup, giving the honor of closing this magical extended weekend to one of their residents - Timnah. Given the high caliber of talent at Mostra, ending the festival on a high note was no simple task. Yet, what we witnessed (and what you will hear in this recording) was a masterful set from a DJ who truly knows her craft.

Following an impressive performance by Rrose, Timnah took the stage with a flawlessly curated techno set. 

In this musical laboratory, Timnah was an alchemist, deftly mixing familiar elements with a slightly more energetic twist than usual. For the first 30 minutes, she kept the base simmering at a low “fire,” allowing the atmosphere to build gradually before adding multiple layers of hypnotic, high-energy elements that electrified the dancefloor. 
The result was an exhilarating and dynamic performance, making it one of the most memorable highlights of this year’s Mostra Festival.

An independent, small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music which emerges as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial and rather impersonal offerings of other large events held in Barcelona.

Mostra's third edition took place between the 28th and 31st March. Aina Climent's two hours set opened the festival on the first day of performances at Hangar, a day dedicated to the more horizontal musical proposals and cutting-edge sounds within the four days festival celebrated.

Human Lessons #085 - Aina Climent @ Mostra 2024 [Human Lessons × Mostra]

In just three editions, Mostra Festival has achieved what many events aspire to but rarely reach – consistently bringing out the best in the artists who perform. Part of this success is due to perfectly matching the music to the specific time slots and settings. Following Sybil's meticulously timed and skillfully executed mix, the responsibility of closing the "day portion" at the Foso stage was assigned to one of Amsterdam's finest exports, Konduku. 

While many anticipated his signature polyrhythmic brain dance style, a great DJ knows how to read the moment and adapt accordingly. Konduku delivered a quirky, minimal techno set that had us bopping against Castell's walls the entire time. The set never lost its momentum, with unexpected synth stabs and a flurry of mid-high percussion adding a delightfully offbeat twist to the steady four-on-the-floor rhythm. 
It was a gloriously weird sunset, and that's a good thing.

Back in 2023 we were lucky enough to release an exceptional podcast from Timnah - our ears were hooked! We immediately felt the potential and knew that she would be the DJ to provide the perfect festival afternoon soundtrack to our beloved forest.

Fast forward to Sunday afternoon at Monument Festival 2024, and Timnah’s set completely surpassed our already high expectations. From the moment she started, it was clear this was going to be something special.

Starting slow and deep, setting the stage like the opening of an epic tale, Timnah’s set unfolded layer by layer, note by note like a cinematic sonic story told deep in the forest by a master storyteller, one that could have only been by Timnah herself.

Monument Festival 2024 : Timnah

This contribution is a very special one, as it marks a new chapter in The Observatory’s sound… 

We will always be a home for ambient and experimental sounds. But, moving forward, we will also be exploring our love for dance music, with a particular focus on the deep end.

To begin this new journey and warm things up, we are so happy to welcome back Timnah, who gifts us with a two-hour recording of her set at Omen Wapta, ADE’24. A mind-bending traversal through ambient, drone, and halftime experiments, exploring the liminal spaces between the listening room and the dance floor.

Timnah lives, works and feeds the cats in the Northwestern extremities of Switzerland. Brought up in her parents’ jazz clubs and deeply influenced by her brother’s love for dub and soundsystem culture, she started DJing just after the massively feared Millenium Bug had threatened to offset our relation to time and space. Dedicated to drawing her own map of late 20th century sonic landscapes, she spent the early 2000s exploring 90s electronics including breakbeat, triphop, ambient techno, drum&bass, house and jungle. After a short but sweet excursion into producing in the early 2010s, Timnah dedicated herself fully to spinning the wheels and transversing genres, gravitating towards her current signature sound that spans immersive sound baths and intergalactic carpet rides in half-time. Timnah is a member of Amenthia Recordings and a recent addition to the A Walking Contradiction Collective.

Basel’s Timnah joins our series with a long-anticipated recording from last year’s inaugural pe:rsona, an intimate gathering from the minds at Positive Education. Over the years Timnah has established a reputation for expansive and visionary selections without equal, lending her voice to the beloved Amentia and A Walking Contradiction collectives and leading audiences into captivating unknowns worldwide. Recorded live in the French countryside at the peak of summer, Timnah’s set smolders with delicate tension, lacing outward like tendrils upon shattering glass. An intense, inward-folding moment graciously shared. Thanks Timnah!

Sure Thing Mix 142: Timnah

Perpendicular Festival unravels as one continuous thread, bending and reforming across days and nights until the sense of time itself begins to dissolve. From Friday afternoon to the first pale hints of Monday light, the forest carries a constant flux of sound, shifting from floor-focused intensity to moments of near-weightless suspension. The turning point comes when the moon hovers over the DJ booth on the main stage and the current draws inward: La Cabaña, a wooden cabin hidden among the pines, becomes the gathering place for music at its most unguarded and exploratory. Here, reality softens, and performances take the shape of dreams.

It was in these hours between Friday and Saturday that STBL opened the portal. His set arrived quietly, almost imperceptibly, whispers in the air, static drifting like dust in moonlight. Slowly, harmonies began to shimmer and unfold, shadowed by pads that seemed to stretch toward some unreachable horizon. Beneath it all, a subtle rumble grew, reassuring, like company long imagined finally appearing at your side. Nothing felt rushed; each sound seemed to wait for the moment it was meant to reveal itself.  

The power of the set lies in its restraint, in the way it suspended time and quietly rewrote it in the minds of those present. A moment like this resists fading; it lingers, carried forward as a story that will be told again and again.

The fire at the center of the floor was more signal than warmth against the countryside chill. Sparks shot upward into the night as dancers circled around, bodies locked into the pulse spilling from the booth. Above Below Festival thrives on these elemental juxtapositions: a rural valley transformed into a site of intensity, a cocoon-like booth channeling waves of sound that felt larger than the space itself. With every kick drum, the edges of the night blurred, and for hours the crowd existed in a suspended orbit around light, heat, and rhythm.

It was here that Timesplitters, Jake and Pat, took hold. Their set drove forward on cavernous bass, but the force alone wasn’t what bound the floor; it was the shifting mid-range voices, synth lines and melodic sequences mutating like smoke from the fire, wrapping dancers in a narrative of tension and release. They approached the set less as selectors and more as authors, tracing the night with a balance of discipline and wildness. Despite their name, there was no split in time, only the sense of one continuous current, shared in firelight, smiles, and unbroken motion.

Delayed x Above Below: Timesplitters

"From stillness, motion grows. After hours suspended in ambient haze, pulse and movement return - deep, measured, and alive with detail. From layered harmonics to the weight of each kick, the set unfolds like a slow ignition: serious, immersive, and unrelenting in its drive. A live moment at Mostra that reminded everyone where the dancefloor begins."

As a Mostra resident since the first edition, Timnah (@timnah-sommerfeldt) has shown throughout the previous years a great versatility, adapting to any venue and time slot of the festival always brilliantly. After closing Mostra24 in a masterful way, the Swiss artist visited Mostra25 to do a hybrid set with Mario (@mario-7), who also joined Mostra with Varuna (@varuna4053) a couple of years ago in a performance of which we also keep very nice memories.
The hybrid DJ/live set of Timnah and Mario is a match made in heaven, linking top notch selector capabilities to swirling hardware techno aesthetics and flawless execution. Both hailing from Basel, their collab also entangles the two local labels Amenthia Recordings (@amenthia-recordings) and A Walking Contradiction (@awalkingcontradiction). Through their close collaboration with both labels and heaps of collective of studio time, their musical taste and approach have become deeply intertwined, resulting in long build-ups and transcendental sound sculptures.

Mostra (@mostrabcn) is an independent, small-scale festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music that emerged at the end of 2021 as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial, and impersonal offerings of other large events held in Barcelona. Mostra will celebrate its fourth edition from March 12 to 15, 2026.

HOCast #264 - Timnah & Mario (Hybrid) - Mostra 2025

Kyoto-based DJ and producer Yuddy Ash has been steadily finding his voice over the past few years. Following a series of online appearances and a collaboration with silkscreen. on GIFKIKKER, he now joins the Delayed with series with a mix that favors movement through restraint, using rhythm as a thread rather than a tool of impact.

Across sixty-one minutes, it unfolds with a steady pulse, subtle shifts, and a lightness in tone. It’s a late-night listen that moves from deep low-end flow to airy percussion. The transitions are soft, almost invisible, yet the direction remains clear, a quiet reminder that less can still move plenty.

Delayed with... Yuddy Ash

Every year, Alfonso, the artistic director of Mostra, hides a few cards up his sleeve, and this time one of them was DjSport. Closing the Friday program at Fabra i Coats is never random, it’s a statement, and by the time her halftime pulse began rolling through the space, we all knew why she was there. The groove was elastic, full of tension that never broke until she decided it should. Then came the shift: precision turning into pressure, tempo climbing until Fabra felt like a steam room. Just when it seemed ready to tip into chaos, she had her “hold my beer” moment, controlled detonation, a sudden swerve into broken, bass-heavy terrain that felt like opening a window mid-storm. From there on, it was cruise control, the kind that hums with energy yet never loses composure.

Mauritius-born and now based in Barcelona, DjSport carries that balance of warmth and unpredictability wherever she plays. Her debut at Mostra was the kind that makes you trust Alfonso’s instincts even more, those mysterious names on the poster that end up defining the memory.

Delayed x Mostra: DjSport

The idea of the breakbeat was born in the Bronx, but its evolution since then has been a transatlantic dialogue, a rhythmic exchange between continents that never really settled. In London, this language found its most elastic form, bending through jungle, drum & bass, and techno, mutating with each new generation of producers. The city remains a living organism, constantly reshaping itself through DJs, club nights, and collectives that resist repetition. Unknown Species, a London-based platform and event series that blends music and environmental awareness in support of endangered species, has carved out a corner for artists to explore that freedom. Its founder, Rado, better known as Naturalisten, is the musical mind behind this week’s edition of Delayed with.

This mix was recorded almost a year ago at Espacio Perpendicular in Madrid, during the first collaborative event between Unknown Species and the Perpen crew, alongside Delayed friends F-on, Fran Campos, Lynne, DB1, Felix K, Muted, Vrika, and Pillen. It’s a space where rhythm meets reflection, and Naturalisten rises fully to the occasion. The first half builds tension through shifting grooves and subtle rhythmic displacements, a controlled energy that feels alive and restless.

As the set unfolds, the edges blur. Synths stretch into stranger territories, textures become unmoored, and the intensity softens into something beautifully off-kilter, a reminder that unpredictability can be its own kind of balance. Naturalisten lets the music speak, and it speaks fluently, with groove, curiosity, and a quiet sense of purpose.
