For Patterns of Perception 112, we're very excited to welcome back @kondukukonduku - a truly stellar all-round talent and dear friend of our collective. 

Four whole years have passed since we last featured Konduku in our mix series. In this time, he has reached new creative heights, adding textures, shades and vibrancy to his distinctive sound - in the process finding homes for highly touted releases on the likes of @spaziodisponibile, Mantis (via @delsinrecords), @nousklaeraudio, @amenthia-recordings (with @aasudd) and most recently @djnobu_bitta's Bitta.

As a DJ, his creativity and skills are similarly vaunted, and see him regularly take the stage at key festivals, venues and events across Europe and Asia. 

Recorded live at Patterns of Perception @ OHM Berlin on Apr 21, 2023, Konduku's Patterns of Perception 112 is a showcase of his thrilling abilities behind the decks. Unpredictable yet totally engrossing, this set is a profound tale of tension and release. Tightly wound grooves and eerie psychedelia leading us unerringly to ecstasy. A fine balance of intuition, control and spirit from a visionary artist in full-flight.

Observatory 056 - Sungate [with F-ON & Hakk]

Jordi Aparicio and Joan Gila @joan-gila (@hoc-radio), both from Tarragona, are the duo behind @binomi. Both avid collectors of records, their search for sound brought them together in Barcelona more than a decade ago. We will be able to enjoy their more eclectic side at Perpen23 with a selection of tribal, psychadellic, synth and downtempo sounds. 
In this mix, we wanted to create a turning point by proposing sounds that are not so aligned with the festival lineup, a very personal and different selection of vinyl records to be able to step out and then step back into the deeper sounds. Music for aperitif time and to enjoy the sunhours in the woods.

Perpendicular 2023 - Binomi

Jo Johnson has been releasing music and organising events since the early 90s. She is a regular performer at Freerotation festival in the UK, and organises electronic music events with Bleep43 in London. Her debut solo album, Weaving, was released on Further Records in 2014 and has been described as a modern classic.  Her latest solo release, The Wave Ahead, came out earlier this year on Brooklyn-based label, Mysteries of the Deep. Jo also collaborates with pianist and composer, Hilary Robinson, and they have a live album, Session One, on 9128.live (a sub-label of A Strangely Isolated Place).

“It's been a pleasure to spend time listening to someone else’s music rather than my own! I've been writing and playing out much more this year, which has been amazing, but it's not left as much time for listening, so it's been refreshing and inspiring to delve into some of the great music that's been coming out recently. Makiko Iwaki aka “Menou” (for lives) and also “iwamaki” (for djsets) (@makiko-iwaki) is a Japanese Live actor / DJ, who started her career in 2015. Her Live set and DJing approach is a deep drone journey. She is conscious of creating a deep sound with an approach of layering sounds, and also enjoys giving an audience the subtle change in sound.

We are so thrilled to finally share this delicious mix recorded by the French/Polish DJ and producer ~ ina kacz. We met Ina last year in London during her visit and have immediately bonded over a few shared musical experiences, keeping in touch since. It feels so right to finally welcome her to the Introspective Electronics family. She recorded just over an hour of seamlessly flowing ambient textures weaved together with various shades of rhythm-driven experimental dance sounds for us  🤍

Ina’s music taste is refreshingly eclectic, yet she manages to keep her signature sound ~ combining deep atmospheres, breaks, tribalism and groove ~ well defined. A household name on her local Berlin scene, with DJ sets at Berghain and Tresor under her belt, Ina also tours around the globe, notably in Georgia, France, Portugal, or Colombia among other places. In 2022, she has released her first track ‘Sequoia’ as part of a compilation on the Colombian imprint ‘From A Lost Place’ 💫

This mix is the perfect example of challenging the frontiers between music for listening and dancing. Starting off patiently with droney ambient and glitchy downtempo, the mix picks up pace around its middle section to dive into heady, futuristic drum’n’bass weightlessness wrapped in soft, warm & fuzzy blankets of lush atmospherics. This one will take you places, we promise. Travel safe, friends!

With releases on labels such as Norite, Sungate and On Board Music, and with several more lined up on reputable techno labels, London-based Einerlei continues to hone his brain-bending, intricate sound. Fusing subtlety with a certain directness, he repeatedly - across a range of styles and influences - manages to capture and amplify unexpected atmospheric elements in his compositions. His DJ sets serve as a continuation of this philosophy, weaving a range of influences in a constant search for those unexpected twists and moments which unite a dancefloor.

In his mix for IO, Einerlei seeks to focus around an early dramatic transition, thereafter concentrating on finding a coherent balance between sincerity and playfulness with a mixture of quicker and slower blends being utilised to weave an eminently danceable tale.

It is a big honour to feature the very talented @syberkid for our ninth Herbarium Episode. With her organic and trippy sound, she makes the perfect match for our series.
The artist chose one of the oldest ferns for her mix, Pteridium Aquilinum. There are fossil records for this plant which are over 55 million years old.
It’s native in the U.K., the place where Sybil is based. She says '[it] looks so prehistoric & Jurassic, I love it.'

It is wonderful how Sybil integrates the mystic yet ancient vibe of this plant into her mix. It describes the complex form and the magic which comes with the age of its existence on earth very well. There are moments in which one can imagine to really communicate with this inspiring plant and feel the atmosphere around it in our forests.

It’s with great pride that we present the latest installment to the series. A selection of 10 succulent ambient tracks from Georgian producer HVL…

I stumbled upon this producer through one of our own 10TRAX (#017), as I was trying to get to know more about downtempo sounds… I was happy to find out that play after play, all of his tracks were amazing, due to their quality (obviously) but also thanks to their originality, seen as I hadn’t really heard anything like it before.  

His 10TRAX much like his productions is a perpetual and somewhat thrilling trip through the kilohertz. 

We would like to thank Gigi for his time and his amazing contribution!
